  1. Jip, I saw. Looking forward to this season. Just wish there were a couple of more Xterra on the calendar
  2. Jip, that Pierre Pienaar dude is one luck man
  3. Rudy project Photochromic. They are brilliant. Only issue is that they fog up a bit, but you will get that with any glasses just to a varing extent
  4. I usually use about 2 X 750 bottles, stop for a coke at 2 water points, one bar midway and one gel for the last 20km. Sometimes I drink more, sometimes less depending on how hot it is. For instance last year at Nissan Van Gaalens I almost drank 6L, but at Hazeldean this year I had about 1L
  5. My wife is 1.50m (short) and we got her a Cannondale Trail SL in a size Small. I see they do make a size smaller (Petite). Here is a link to the bike we got and my wife loves it. http://www.cannondale.com/zaf/2011/bikes/womens/womens-hardtail/womens-hardtail-trail/2011-trail-sl-womens-3
  6. I have the same problem. My brother-in-law is looking to get into the sport as well, but we cant seem to find a place where we can rent a decent bike for a week or two for him. We are in PTA. I know Groenies does rent out some bikes but at R90 + R25 a shot its does get a bit pricey Anyone have some ideas?
  7. They have a very nice range. Just note that it is http://www.bikejerseys.com/ (with the 's') Do you know if you have to order one size bigger as well (like with cycling-jersey.net), or will normal SA sizes apply?
  8. Don’t want to sound like a weight weenie, but what weight did the build come out to? My money is saved up and I have to decide between the EMD and the Air9. Decisions, decisions.... BTW, it looks awsome!
  9. Do they have a website? Sounds like a good adventure
  10. This must be the most beautiful machine I have ever seen! (Sorry if this has been posted before)
  11. 2 very friendly clubs are Epic in Centurion and Singletrack in PTA east. Both have groups for beginners
  12. I will make sure to do this ride when I go to Swadini again. How do I get to this 'Mariepskop'?
  13. Anyone else did the Kinetic Adventure race yesterday? I found it a lot harder than the previous one at Amasingwe (which is a good thing). We lost plenty of time looking for CP05 on the cycle leg. Its the one that said ‘Dam Wall’. We eventually found it at the other dam wall (LOL), but other than that all went well. After that we got stuck behind some riders on the singletrack section so we took it easy from there. All-and-all, I really enjoyed it. Its a lekker event to do. I just battled a bit seeing that I did the Nissan Hazeldean Marathon the day before. The legs had other plans for a Sunday morning in the chilly weather
  14. Thanks for the info gents. I'll pop Graham a mail.
  15. I just need some info on those mountings that you fit to the handlebar of you bike where you can pin a map. Does anyone know where I can get one of them? I saw some peeps use them at the Kinetic adventure races and it will make my life much easier. What are they called?
  16. Thanks Tumbleweed. I found a image and the code on the bikewear site. Order is placed and I think my wife will be ecstatic!
  17. My wife is looking at getting a pair of Rudy Projects. I know the name is the Rydon Crystal Pink. So to be sure I order the right pair from my LBS I want to take a pic and the code with, but I can not find a image & code on the web. I get the images of the plain Crystal Rydon’s, but not the pink one. Does anyone maybe have a link where I can view the image or so?
  18. You know the weight of the EMD compared to the AIR 9 (not the carbon)? I like the paintwork of the EMD but the brushed silver on the AIR 9 looks great as well
  19. I see that Momsen is launching a AL529 in the next two months as well. ZTR Crest rims, XT/SLX groupo with a Reba fork. An I think it will be in you price range if I take a look at how well their other bikes are priced
  20. I totally agree. After the congestion and the field sorted itself out, the run was excellent!
  21. Yesterday I did the Trail run at Groenkloof and the organization was terrible What was the difference between the R90 for the race and paying R25 anytime other time. Even though I entered online, I still stood in a que for 30 min. I got a number and that is it. Not even pins to pin the number with. With road events I can see what justifies the cost, but they are still cheaper than the trail running event. I am going to give the rest of the series a skip. The event yesterday was really a great example of bad organisation and I did not get my moneys worth. I want to make the following points: • With all the people entering online, how can they not have expected the amount of people that will be picking up there numbers, seeing that there are limited places to do it prior to the event? • How can there not be one water table. The reserve had numerous tar road were vehicles could access the route? I know you have to take your own water, but still. What do I pay for? • Why wasn’t there people assisting the runners at the back of the number pick up que. I saw numerous people that didn’t know which que they had to be in because it was just a huge bunch. • Why only one table for drinks afterwards? That is just ridiculous! You had to que for 30 to 45 min to get your (already entered online) number now you have to que for a quick drink afterwards as well! • Why isn’t there a max amount of runners allowed? For the first 4km yesterday it was a constant stop-go-stop-go. The trail could handle that huge amount of runners. I was there to run, not hike Apart from all the negatives, the trail itself was brilliant. But as mentioned above, it doesn’t justify the costs. I can do it on my own without a number for R25 I know you pay for the vibe and the experience, but what if the experience was horrible due to the reasons above?
  22. I have only had one issue that was ummmhh, an issue. But Jo-Ann sorted the problem quickly. Other than that I have received every issue on time without any hassles. It a great magazine and the Barceló’s voucher is a great incentive for subscribing
  23. Jip, same here. We renewed ours Easter weekend and haven’t received it yet. We got hold of them one on the phone and the excuse was that they didn’t have a postal address for us (they should just read the application form I completed ). Now we cant get hold of there helpdesk again. We are heading to KNP the 16th of June. Now I wonder how will I get in? Hopefully they have an organized system where they can look up according to your ID or something?
  24. Sorry, should have been a bit more specific. In live PTA East (Equestria)
  25. I just spoke to a oke here at work, and he recommended swimming in the Rietvlei dam. Anyone else use this dam for training? I know its a nature reserve but people do fish there so I am inclined to think I will be allowed to swim there. What do you think?
