I really enjoyed the race and the climbs. The last 25km of the 50km route flowed brilliantly and it was head down and climbing! I didn?t notice the scenery, but I heard some places were awesome. The start was great with the 5 groups and I think it worked really good. Some other organizer can take note of this format. The only thing that I can complain about is those idiots that think they are beter than the rest of us and they are allowed to ride past everyone that had to stop and push in at the front. I see a cunning resemblance between them and those taxi?s driving past in the yellow lane. A$$holes! The finish was as if the organizers had only wanted to make the entry fee out of the mountain bikers and didn?t try to provide some entertainment for a day out. It was as if: ?We have your money, you did the ride, now leave?. Next time I want a beer! And a seat to sit and drink my beer! Then they wonder why there is always so little people left for the prize giving Overall, great route and climbs, sh*tty after-race.

Just a quick word of thank you to Anton and his team at Cycle House in PTA north. I can recommend them to absolutely anyone.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I bought my first real decent M.T.B. from them about 4 mounts ago and since then I have only left the shop with a smile. These dudes give you the best price first time and there is no need to negotiate for a beter price. Service is excellent! They are always willing to help without pestering you while browsing the shop. I got my bike back from its second service today and they replaced a bearing on the back somewhere. Instead of charging me for a service they only charged me for the bearing as they said they scanned the bike and they didn?t have to do much. How great is that? R180 and I am out of there. Brilliant! The shop is nowhere as nice as those chain stores, but the price and service is the best and that?s all I want. Where can I find a fox shop in PTA or JHB? I tried google and the fox site without any luck.

Good Luck with the search. You will get allot of different ideas but here is my 2cents. Like you I only recently started with M.T.B.?ing. I was in the market for the same budget as you but couldn?t find anything I liked here on the hub, junkmail or gumtree after about a month of waiting and searching. I then bought a new bike. I bought a silverback as I found it the best value for money I could find. You get beter components on the bike and when I asked the hubbers for their opinion most of them recommended that I pick the Silverback above a Merida or Felt. I would recommend going for the Phoenix (or Nabraska if you want to spend a little bit more). Remember to keep in mind what ?cbrunsdon? said about the extras that you will have to get. All the little things add up and it does become a bit expensive.

Really Really Nice! Is it new or 2nd hand? I was looking at the TFS 500 but the hubbers recommended that I get a 2nd had one for the same price as the TFS 500.
