  1. Just a rookie question: Why would SRAM be the norm on the Zula?
  2. Does anyone know what wheels those are? They don?t say in the review. They look awesome!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  3. I really don?t know about clubs in CT ( I am in GP), but I am sure that your L.B.S. will be able to assist. Regarding the bike. I don?t think you will get a dual suspension for your budget, but a hardtail is an excellent way to start out. Just remember that the most import thing to look for is fit. Once again your L.B.S. will get the best fit for you. In my opinion Silverback offers great value for money (I ride one myself) but for your budget you will be able to get an excellent Secondhand bike. I know its awesome to get a new bike, but most of the secondhand bikes here on the hub are still in an almost new condition. Just some pointers: The frame is the most important (you can upgrade around it) so make sure it fits you Doesn?t matter what people tell you, shimano and sram are both great! Get HYDRAULIC Brakes The fork is another very import part of the bike, so get the best you can afford. The most of all RIDE RIDE RIDE. The more time in the saddle, the better M.T.B.?ing gets!
  4. You have picked the best sport EVER! Firstly I would suggest going to your local bike store. Chat to them and they will point you in the right direction. When you have your bike, you should join a club. You will get great tips from all the other in the club (and on the hub).
  5. Van Gaalens: The best singletrack in the area and a bit of a challenging climb up to the ?Griekse Kerk?. Its a nice spot to take the family with seeing that its a cheese farm, you can have a picnics there and there is a restaurant as well www.vangaalen.co.za/ Teak Place: Some great winding singletrack, a short lung bursting climb or two and a spot to have coffee as well. There is a floating bridge and Dawie the garden gnome has been seen once or twice before. Its in the cradle of human kind, so you can make an outing of it for the family www.teakplace.co.za/ Groenkloof Its a small game reserve in the heart of PTA. The terrain has a bit of everything. Singletrack, rocky descents, some climbing (at onion hill) and right next to Groenkloof is Fountains where you can do some XC riding. I personally use Fountains as a bit of pudding after a ride. You can have a picnic at Groenkloof, go on horse ride, hike and rent some bicycles for those in the family that only tags along once in a while http://www.tshwane.gov.za/groenkloof.cfm
  6. My Top 3 in the GP/NW area: Van Gaalens Teak Place Groenkloof
  7. MTB or Road?
  8. I have the MULE and its a works great but I really do think that the LOBO is better. I don?t use all the available space in the MULE and sometimes it just feels to big/overkill. If you want to carry a spare tube, multi tool, puncture kit, some basic first aid, enough fluids for a 3-4hr trip and space for a jacket, the LOBO is perfect
  9. Jip, leaving at 13:00! I just hope there isnt any traffic jams on the N4 like when I went down for the Barberton race. Drive safe peeps! Grondpad2010-02-26 02:26:14
  10. My sisters got her boyfriend a subscription for his birthday last year. He still hasn?t received a copy of the magazine. After numerous complaints they did give him an apology pack, but still no magazine
  11. I went to Dischem Olympus yesterday(in PTA East). It seems like they are out of wasp gels except for the Caffeine free ones.
  12. Will there be daily TV coverage/highlights of the event like last year?
  13. I didn?t notice the scenery. I was to tired to look anywhere else than my front tire
  14. My first ride with them was on the 6th of Feb. What distance did you do? I really enjoyed it and found the pace much higher than with my club. I think I can learn allot from these okes and will defiantly go there again. Very nice route (accept for the gun shots) and the distance is always helpful. We aimed for 60km but ended around 75km.
  15. I bought the C2 Gel Flow yesterday at Cyclelab and fitted it to my bike. I haven?t taken it out for a test ride yet, but I hope it was the correct choice. The shop assistant recommended the C2 for my price range. It 255g and it is under the off-road section on the Selle Italia site. How does the C2 compare to the SLR range? This is the one I got:
  16. We must have cycled together allot on route. At the start I was just left from those pics. I think I stood on you left. I cycled allot with that dude on the Yeti with the Anglo jersey in one of those pics. Great Race!
  17. Anyone know who took photos? I didn?t see photographers on route. Maybe they already left by the time I finished
  18. What a mess! I changed my entry from the 45km to the 75km. When I went to pick UP my number they couldn?t find me on the system so they just gave me a new number. According to the results, my 45km is a DNF and my 75km number is in the No Data Chip section. The time is out with about 20 minutes as well. Just a bit of bad luck. Probably my own fault/stupidity. Next time I will make sure to enter the correct distance form the start.
  19. I have the Rudy Project Exowind with Photochromatic lenses. I can really recommend Rudy Project. They are absolutely brilliant!
