I ride a CAAD with a carbon fork, no worries at all. Friends on Super Sixes ride them hard, never seen one fail. That said, if my fork ever failed like that I would never ride the brand again.

Good luck! I'll be using all 20 of my gears in Barberton, there is close to 2300 m ascent over the 75 so choose a climbing ratio. Not much flat at all so you should be good for the descents too.

See you at Barberton for the 75 km. I'll be on a 26 ds but last year did it on a 26 ht. both will do fine there as its not technical but has a wee bit of climbing (2300 m)!

Roadies here in Hermanus have greeted me on my MTB. Almost without fail. MTBers? Only half so far.

BB 30 is great , stiff and light. Spring for a FSA or SRAM crank and you won't regret it. I put a SRAM force crank on my cannondale and I'm very happy with the weight and responsiveness of the system.

I feel the same way, just thought that Dream would make a nice companion for my CAAD!

Hey Dangle, what gave you got against him other than that he was anti Lance? That's the main reason most of his haters hate. Calling him a whiner and all, is because if the Lance angle. Same reason many are anti Contador. Seriously, what's he done wrong?

That's how I feel about my 26" bike... Not too big, not to small. Never went about my rides thinking "wish I had bigger wheels" until someone told me I needed them.

The other side of the coin: of all the bikes I have sold I miss my hard tail 26" Zaskar the most. Single track feedback and line choice are what made the bike fun to ride. I sold it because back problems over longer 80 km + rides forced me to move to a full suss. For me full suss bikes are like riding a couch, unresponsive and bendy, and so I enjoy tight, twitchy, full suss bikes like the merida 99 which allow me to emulate my hard tail when climbing, on district and tar roads, on tight single track and are still capable enough of bombing down any descents I encounter here in Tzaneen which has more mountains than most. You can keep your boingy boingy Trances and PYGAs and give me tight and fast and fun any day. No, I am not ever going to win a marathon but I sure like trying, just like most of the DH crowd aren't Minaar but they still buy the big hit bikes and consider it "real" MTB.

I use look on the road and XT off. Everything lasts better than candys.

Riding without lots if coffee is like having sex by yourself. Just not quite satisfying.

If only we could somehow fit bar ends to Eldrons drop bars...
