Even when dry Sabie makes other events feel like kiddies rides (Barberton excluded!)

I got mine for 9k but it was a 2011 frame from warranty stock. Not sure what they cost but rig it up with new105, a set of Ea90 slx and Zipp finishing kit and you will have an awesome race bike.

Hey Nic, my wife finished 16 in her cat at the 94.7 on her new CAAD so money well spent! Hijack on: blew my savings on a Flash, just couldn't help myself. Poorer now but faster... Hijack off. (sorry Rouxtjie)

I ride a CAAD10 Rouxtjie, it's an awesome machine. I built up a 2011 frame which I got new and it is exactly the same as the 2012 and 2013 but for the paint jobs. I just bought my wife the 2014 bike and it has internal routing on the rear brake cable but is otherwise identical. Buy the one with the nicest paint or the one you get the best deal on. You can't go wrong!

The Easton's are fantastic. My wife races them, very light and stiff with ceramic bearings but if you are heavier look at the EA90 sl which are heavier and stronger or the AC 420 Aero 3 which I used at 92 kg no problem.

It's academic, not about bragging. If you were trying a sub three on a hangover your question would be much more pertinent than 3:30 or 4:00 which are manageable even if you are not feeling great. I would never race for time after drinking but a few beers before a scenic marathon would probably work.

You without booze will be much, much faster than you with booze. I gave up dop and my times improved drastically. All depends on how fast you are and how fast you want to be.

It comes with shimano RS11 which will need an upgrade. Any bike he buys will have to have the wheels changed to something with 32 or 36 spokes. A LBS can build 32 spoke Alex or DT Swiss rims on 105 hubs for a heavier rider. Other than that the CAAD is the way to go. Stiff, light and very strong.

For sure, I saved hard for the flash and traded my Silverback (which I loved!).
