  1. 2.3 kg is a massive difference no matter how much you weigh. The OP would not repeat his 3:10 Argus carrying an extra 2.3 kg. Both bikes are full sus so will be more comfortable than your HT anyway. For the same money go for the lighter bike every time if both are dual suss. And don't stress about wheel size.
  2. Write him off after a good tar and feathering! (Secretly dreaming of, dare I say it, that Momsen 29er)
  3. They have wind at the Argus? Wasn't much last year...
  4. F@k jou! EK RY MY FIETS! F@k jou! EK RY MY VROU!
  5. I was enjoying that one...
  6. There was an American MTB legend (not so great cause I don't remember his name) who claimed it was a fashion disaster and this crusade was adopted by some of the stranger hub denizens with nothing better to do. Burry uses bar ends on a riser but its a semi riser so that doesn't count so its actually use them on a completely flat or almost or.... DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!
  7. Hmmmm... I love ridding with my maxi pads, helps me use my biceps when climbing, makes my Zaskar HT more comfy and as for my balls, still swinging.
  8. Recumbents have seats which you sit in and carry your entire weight. Regular bicycles have saddles which you ride on and which support your weight.
  9. My IT tech explained that my network wasn't working because: The mice bits the effernet cable. It took a while for me to understand that this had nothing to do with computer mice or bits/bytes but rodents.
  10. Last year was 81 from 450 finishers so... around 17%.
  11. Crater Cruise is a fast race. I wonder what % will do a sub 3 for the Barberton 48 km on the 28th?
  12. +1 Cyclemeter app is great. Plastic beg and camelbak and off you go.
  13. You ride with Clive and Ryan? Will give them regards.
  14. I am not rated nationally at all but if you truly are as good as you think you are than it will be a pleasure to learn from you. It would also be a pity for you to not apply that genius to life, cycling and forum posting. My statement about working hard holds true. They must be doing something right, those fools with their 100k bikes or they would not be able to afford them. You wouldn't say no to the bike or the money. Not all roadies are gay. Not all dualie 29er riders are gay. Not everyone minds being called gay or a racer, these terms are not a derogatory as you seem to think. You don't need a steel ss to be cool(ok maybe you do). You come up to Tzaneen in May to ride our local event, the Magoebaskloof challenge, it is a road and mtb event so bring both, and afterwards I will bring my chess board. I quit competing after playing at university level so I am in for a beating as I have pointed out, I like competing.
  15. I see you are as free with your opinion here as in giving advice as to what bike to purchase. And just as misinformed. I am Ray from Tzaneen and I am a farmer mr. Holmes. I ride both MTB and road and don't define myself by what bike I am on, I am a cyclist and you should probably change your name to stabinthedarkmaterialsexpertidiot. I ride a carbon Raleigh which I enjoy and an alu GT HT. What I would like to do though is play a game of chess with you. Unless you play like you reason which would then be a waste of time.
  16. I am not loving telling you anything. I never said you were a little man with a small penis or bipolar or a bully or atwit or any other personal insult other than I find your opinion to be drivel. That's my opinion. I am not trying to change your or any one else mind, that is my point. Do whatever YOU want. But you post online about how uncool others are for doing what pleases them. You are entitled to your opinion, you deserve it, and as no one is paying me too I shall no longer discuss this with you.
  17. And if you do you might become one
  18. Depends who you have over after she behaves...
  19. The only way the average joe could be forced out is if the entry fee and transport to events becomes prohibitive. No one is forced to observe any kind of status or care what others think about them or their bikes. If someone works hard enough and is passionate enough about his gear to be able to afford a high end bike than why should he not enjoy it? And if he insecure enough to define himself by his bike and looks down on the guy with an entry level machine then that, truly, is his own problem. I have been called a racer boy when I am neither racer nor boy, just someone who likes competing, at my own level, likes good bikes and is tired of Internet warriors on soap boxes babbling on about how cool everything used to be when it was all chilled man. Go out. Ride your bike. Compete, don't compete. Ja, whatever. But don't think your fart smells like lavender just because your bike is cheap or you hate the fact that timed rides are called races or that someone may get a kick out of beating you.
  20. Thanks, I was waiting for your permission.
  21. Ja whatever. You must be right.
  22. Why do you assume that people are not enjoying themselves at "races"? Are you enjoying yourself? If you think racing is nothing more than a mindless pi$$ing contest fine but many of us love racing no matter our level of competition. What TNT has been trying to tell you is this country and sport is big enough to accommodate both my big self, with my big truck, and you whatever it is you feel like doing today. Why do advocate changing the why our sport progresses? Make your own events and stop deriding anyone who doesn't conform to your utopia as someone with an inferiority complex. I race, however poorly. I love myself and my bike and have enough "rides" of my own to listen to your self righteous drivel on yours.
  23. I do. And when I want to muck about in the mountains I do that to.
