  1. You ride with Clive and Ryan? Will give them regards.
  2. I am not rated nationally at all but if you truly are as good as you think you are than it will be a pleasure to learn from you. It would also be a pity for you to not apply that genius to life, cycling and forum posting. My statement about working hard holds true. They must be doing something right, those fools with their 100k bikes or they would not be able to afford them. You wouldn't say no to the bike or the money. Not all roadies are gay. Not all dualie 29er riders are gay. Not everyone minds being called gay or a racer, these terms are not a derogatory as you seem to think. You don't need a steel ss to be cool(ok maybe you do). You come up to Tzaneen in May to ride our local event, the Magoebaskloof challenge, it is a road and mtb event so bring both, and afterwards I will bring my chess board. I quit competing after playing at university level so I am in for a beating as I have pointed out, I like competing.
  3. I see you are as free with your opinion here as in giving advice as to what bike to purchase. And just as misinformed. I am Ray from Tzaneen and I am a farmer mr. Holmes. I ride both MTB and road and don't define myself by what bike I am on, I am a cyclist and you should probably change your name to stabinthedarkmaterialsexpertidiot. I ride a carbon Raleigh which I enjoy and an alu GT HT. What I would like to do though is play a game of chess with you. Unless you play like you reason which would then be a waste of time.
  4. I am not loving telling you anything. I never said you were a little man with a small penis or bipolar or a bully or atwit or any other personal insult other than I find your opinion to be drivel. That's my opinion. I am not trying to change your or any one else mind, that is my point. Do whatever YOU want. But you post online about how uncool others are for doing what pleases them. You are entitled to your opinion, you deserve it, and as no one is paying me too I shall no longer discuss this with you.
  5. And if you do you might become one
  6. Depends who you have over after she behaves...
  7. The only way the average joe could be forced out is if the entry fee and transport to events becomes prohibitive. No one is forced to observe any kind of status or care what others think about them or their bikes. If someone works hard enough and is passionate enough about his gear to be able to afford a high end bike than why should he not enjoy it? And if he insecure enough to define himself by his bike and looks down on the guy with an entry level machine then that, truly, is his own problem. I have been called a racer boy when I am neither racer nor boy, just someone who likes competing, at my own level, likes good bikes and is tired of Internet warriors on soap boxes babbling on about how cool everything used to be when it was all chilled man. Go out. Ride your bike. Compete, don't compete. Ja, whatever. But don't think your fart smells like lavender just because your bike is cheap or you hate the fact that timed rides are called races or that someone may get a kick out of beating you.
  8. Thanks, I was waiting for your permission.
  9. Ja whatever. You must be right.
  10. Why do you assume that people are not enjoying themselves at "races"? Are you enjoying yourself? If you think racing is nothing more than a mindless pi$$ing contest fine but many of us love racing no matter our level of competition. What TNT has been trying to tell you is this country and sport is big enough to accommodate both my big self, with my big truck, and you whatever it is you feel like doing today. Why do advocate changing the why our sport progresses? Make your own events and stop deriding anyone who doesn't conform to your utopia as someone with an inferiority complex. I race, however poorly. I love myself and my bike and have enough "rides" of my own to listen to your self righteous drivel on yours.
  11. I do. And when I want to muck about in the mountains I do that to.
  12. Meh, I ride for fun all the time. But when I pay to go to an event I want to race, even if I lose. It is fun to compete and try harder than before and to beat the fat guy in denim shorts. Nobody says you hippie lot have to take it seriously. Lots of people ride the argus with no time in mind, join them at the back if you like, but why complain about those who like bling and want to try for a pb? And I can tell the difference between deore and xtr, an air fox or sid and a oil coil shock. If you can't then, by all means, ride that game special you have been dreaming about...
  13. 26" Zaskar HT and it IS my dream bike.
  14. Better for racing than your mud bike though....
  15. Road riding is normally about racing. That's what the sport entails, so of course it's a pissing contest. If you don't like it or aren't fast enough then by all means, find another discipline. But smugness is self serving and those roadies who have angered you really don't care. It's amazing that road riders don't rant and rave about MTB. There are no "MTB riders suck" threads or lengthy monologues by magazine editors about how MTB riders venturing onto the road aren't embracing the spirit of the sport. I have news for you, most roadies, myself included, are MTB riders too, embracing both competitive and social aspects of the sport. You are not better, not magically cool and somehow superior, but, by all means, if it makes you feel better to think so then go for it. Ray Will not buy tread again.
  16. I dunno, looks pretty real to me... anyway, it's on the web and the Hub, must be real.
  17. I read somewhere on cycling news that he isn't. Waiting for his hearing and then going to concentrate on next years tour.
  18. Pretty much like me. Have to keep going to though, or those working for me may be out stealing bikes instead. Nothing like hungry kids and an angry wife to motivate a man.
  19. You have to catch us first...
  20. Anyway, this is a win win situation. The world ends. Proof that God exists. Fantastic! Nothing scares me more than Nihilism. Not even hellfire The world doesn't end. Fantastic! I get to continue my so far pretty awesome life. See you all on the mountains.
  21. That race is worth going to hell for
  22. I use the Recon Gold on my zaskar and I can find no fault with it yet. I use to ride a fox r32 on my full suss and I can honestly see no difference. Will it last? Time will tell.
  23. We Shimano types are like fixie mtb riders - we do it because we LIKE the pain We also eat stew, grow beards and don't shave our legs...
