  1. It's like a canker, i kid you not! Starts small and inconspicuous and then soon your friends cant stop staring at it, your girlfriend is... I digress, sorry.
  2. Dang that's pretty! My raleigh has a long way to go before she is that sexy (on her way though).
  3. I ride both too so contributions made to these threads are made in jest. Anybody who takes these too seriously deserves the heart burn they will eventually develop. It's almost the same as: "can I put bar ends on riser bars". Of course you can, do whatever you want! No way, it looks silly! Besides, only flat bars are for racing. Burry does it, kinda, well, sorta because it's only a shallow riser which isn't really a riser. OMG, keeps me in stitches for hours on end.
  4. My GT FS would never forgive me if I change my name! And the wife wouldn't speak to me either if she truly knew how I felt about the tar. It's my dirty little secret. I tell everyone I bought the bike for training only...
  5. It's all lies. Ever since I traded my dirt bike for something slick and carbon I can feel the nastiness swelling inside me. It's like a canker and the worst of it all is - I like it hahahahahaha....
  6. Thank you. I have spoken with them on the phone and it hasn't helped. Hopeful Sean will sort me out.
  7. They manage to deliver my bills, each and every one. Being a farmer I have a PO Box and my local post office assures me they have never received a Tread mag for me. While we are in dream land perhaps my Ibis Mojo (which I may have won after all) is also waiting with my magazines. Probably not!
  8. I have also had quick and prompt replies to all my queries, I just have never received a magazine. Not one. I don't even want my money back any more.
  9. Tread Magazine. Started a subscription last year hoping to win that awesome Ibis Mojo. Didn't win and well, that's OK, but I never got a magazine. Not one. It's almost seven months later. I phoned, sent emails, phoned again, sent more emails, and again and keep hearing: "Sorry!" "It's on its way" "will start a new subscription" "don't know what happened". Still no mag. Not a one. Only bills Okay, money down the drain. I will just have to be happy with ride...
  10. I feel way too insecure descending on flats. I like the feeling of being locked onto my bike, knowing that my feet wont slip off. If your clipless pedals are set up right you should never have a problem getting out. Try another type of pedal. I find crank brothers pedals the best personally as I NEVER have a problem unclipping. If only they would make a set that last a little longer...
  11. I am with you on the banana peels. Something is going to be happy I left it there.
  12. +1 on the Lobo. Just perfect to carry the my and my missus's tools, tubeless repair and what nots.
  13. I am never going to win but these "big races" do offer me a chance to hang with a lot of cool MTB dudes and gals, take me on tracks and trails I wouldn't otherwise get to and are a lot of fun. Luckily I have enough money to take my family (who are also all riding) on a great weekend. See you all in the gate!
  14. would it be inappropriate to post this pic on this thread? Is that Gasping and his Chevy? Wow, I have to admit I pictured him differently.
  15. screw that. life is extremes. right' date=' wrong. black, white. fat, thin. love, hate. short, tall. shimano, campy. compromise is death.[/quote'] Yes, you're right... no... hold on a sec... maybe not... got to say, perhaps I am ambivalent on this... we have a saying here at the paper: the editor's indecision is final That's an extreme point of view holy. You should try to be a little more, let's see, opposite of extreme? marginal? slight? SRAM?

  17. My aluminium full suspension bike weighs two kg less than my alu hardtail and that weight difference is mainly in the fork and wheels. A good quality fork will weigh much less than a cheap one but where you can take a lot of weight off is the wheels. But light, strong wheels cost a small fortune
  18. Try doing those jumps on a rigid fork. Of course there is nothing wrong with a rigid fork until you try to jump with one. Or descend Mapoepallankal mountains on one. Or slam through a really rocky river crossing. Or... Coming to think of it, I glad my fox fork believes the hype
  19. Nothing annoys me more than a bike that shifts when its not supposed to and wont shift when I need it to. A cheap drive train and shifters can work well when set up right but they just don't seem to stay that way for very long. And once you have tried a decent fork it is very hard to go back to riding an el cheapo one.
  20. How about this: "Here for your daily stress relieve of these to poor to afford a motorcycle people..." Bet you a few bikes on this forum cost more than some on that one
  21. Almost rather get hit by his two ton truck than have to speak to him. Ghey?
  22. I want to ride my HT... I do... I really do... it's pure and makes me feel young and strong and... Sod it. Riding a HT is just plain stupid. Timed myself on climbs and I am marginally faster on my HT. Things is I am MUUUUCH faster downhill on my Dual Sus. More than makes up for the gain uphill. As to weight: my dual weighs a few kg less than most cheaper HT and only 1 kg heavier than my expensive HT. As to age of rider: well, lots of younger folk actually ride DS bikes, like Burry Stander, Kevin Evans, every single downhill racer, lot's of the 4X crowd, all mountain riders. Yes, they cost more but not that much more. A well specced carbon GT, Scott or Merida HT will set you back 20 - 30 k. You can buy a carbon Scott Spark 30 for 29 k. Or a GT Sensor. Or a Giant Anthem. Thing is, you will have to spend around 20 k or more to get a well specced DS. They do need more maintenance but I have found that most of the maintenance on my bike involves the fork and that would be the case on my HT too. My LBS charges about R200 to service and lube my suspension every few months. I can live with that.
  23. Nah, that thread is just a pi$$ing contest. Awesome for those riding and watching.
