  1. Thanks for the update Supaman. Just a consideration - is there any way to keep the slower, shorter distance riders to the left, especially when the top end of the Open bunches approach the finish? Maybe a few marshals with loudhailers or so? I really don't need another visit to hospital after the race like last year.
  2. I hope the rider makes a speedy recovery This' date=' to me, is an interesting topic... I've been riding at Groenkloof 1 or 2 times a week since July. So I know the trails and bends pretty well by now. I'm not a pro; posted a 3h25 at the 94.7 and my best MTB time was 32mins a lap at the 24 hour. However, the 3 ruffest/hardest falls I've had so far happened in the last 2 weeks... Why??? Because I'm pushing the limits of my skills... Why??? Because I'd like to get better... If you don't try to go faster or ride out a steeper/ more technical hill, then you won't get better... You won't learn new skills... But sometimes you have all the skills, you know the track, you have been warned and still you buy some property... [/quote'] Good point and I agree that you have to ride harder or faster to get better. But within reason. For example, if you have just started riding then don't go try the blue route the first time. Master the green, then progress to the blue and only once you are comfortable riding the blue try the black. Don't ride the blu once and just because you didn't eat dirt think you are ready for the black routes. We all want to get better but got to do it progressively. You can't start the green and an hour late master the black routes. Progress gradually and only once you have mastered the level below move to the higher level. You don't go from Grade 8 to Matric. You have to go through grade 9, then grade 10, then grade 11 before you get to Matric. Only you will know once you have mastered the easier routes and are ready to push yourself on a harder route. But you have to be sensible about it as well. True, and I don't dispute that. Sometimes even if you have done the route a hundred times before then something can still go wrong.
  3. If there was even 1 person behind doing the route at normal speed and you are walking down it then that will end in pain! Often the routes do not have very good visibility due to the vegetation.
  4. Unfortunately!!!
  5. Oh. Thanks. If you don't ask' date=' no-one will tell you. [/quote'] what the idea is with the bike park, as it was with logwood, is to do the routes from the easiest (blues) without dabbing a foot, before progressing to the greens, and then to the black routes. hog, is that black trail after angle grinder open yet? Exactly my point Holy! Do the easiest first and when you are confident of being able to ride the more advanced routes then try them.
  6. Do you want to walk the Epic route before you ride it? Just don't ride a double black diamond trail if you not at the level yet. It is called common sense.
  7. That is not nice! Speedy recovery to the rider!
  8. Hey Cat-i, roadie bikes were made for rain as well! I love racing in the rain!
  9. It is not the most important but it is important enough!
  10. Sorry, did I let the cat out the bag? The one that you told me about in the email. Aaaah now I remember, that was in the same chain of mail where you told us about you smoking that funny stuff No, you are confused. It wasn't me smoking the funny stuff. Have you checked your iron levels again, they seem to be getting a bit low again and making you confused.
  11. Then come do a distance base training ride with Slave and I. I hear Trubie my also join.
  12. It is very tempting but I need more distance. Will you ride two full laps non-stop with me Hum Bird?
  13. Sorry, did I let the cat out the bag? The one that you told me about in the email.

    Breedtsnek?

Make it Sunday Nance. I am already committed to a ride with Slave on Saturday and you have put your name down for SBR on Saturday. So Sunday is the best option. Think of the great training for Sani2C - SBR on Sat and long Breedt's Nek Exploration on Sunday. Couldn't be better!!
  15. And be careful of the bump at the bottom of that descent on the righter. My rear wheel has bounced and locked up virtually everytime. The descent on the Cheetah Loop you can do at a good speed without any braking!
  16. No Os, you will need your brand new Downhill bike!
  17. Hum - Kieran has already offered a lift so there is the alternative. Cat-i - With the present attendance list there can be no ride, only a race! If I attended it would be even more of a race!
  18. I have other training objectives and want a proper training ride. SBR this Saturday just won't cut it. Come ride with Slave and I, Kid! I think Slave is also getting GO.
  19. Os, you think Slave is going to do Babbas on his hybrid with slicks?
  20. Recover quickly Lucky Lady! Why do they need a room? Get them a boxing ring.
  21. I agree with Slave on this one. As such I am riding with Slave on a longer ride.
  22. RIP Alan. He was a great rider and super person!
  23. Nice bikes.
