  1. A real question I've always wandered about. Do Vegans wear leather shoes? Belts? Leather seats in their cars? Wallets, handbags?
  2. That's amazing. Well done
  3. Gummi, where did you buy the Sk007? I'm going to be in the market for one soon methinks That's the SK013 though, isn't it?
  4. Any actual info on this? Like distance etc?
  5. Hahaha that's funny
  6. Sounds like you have varnish on the deck. I would sand it off and use a sealer rather. It is easier in the long run to touch up a sealer as it doesn't sit on the wood like a varnish, but rather it penetrates a bit. When it comes time to touch up, you won't need to remove the old coat like varnish
  7. Good point. Typing too quickly and not thinking things through correctly
  8. The density of Finnish pine is 370 – 550 kg/m3, spruce 300 – 470 kg/m3 and birch 590 – 740 kg/m3. Those are pretty soft woods. Bear in mind wood's tensile strength increases as it's density increases. Wood is also 20 times stronger along the grain than across it, so that needs to be taken onto account too.
  9. Not necessarily. Wood and other natural products are very strong. Ever seen a tree with a monster branch or trunk at a crazy angle and weight? Could you imagine steel holding up those weights at those angles with no extra support? Here is a fun fact for you. If you set a steel based structure and wood based structure on fire and managed to extinguish the flames soon enough , you could actually continue to use the wood building. The steel building would collapse when the temperatures reached 800 degrees or something (the steel would melt). The wood beams on the other hand would only be burning on the surface. So, in theory, you could clean off the blackened surface of the wood and the inside would still be ok. Obviously it is difficult to actually be able to put out the fire, but still.
  10. What would you consider the right price? Sorry for the questions, just not sure of what these could go for.
  11. What is Carbonite? Specs are as follows: Asus FX753V i7 7700 (7th Gen) 16G RAM 1TB hard drive Intel GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card 17 inch screen Has warranty till end June 2018 with Incredible connection
  12. A bit off topic here, but does anyone know where I can sell a gaming laptop? Other than Gumtree of course, too many scammers and time wasters there TIA
  13. Impact drivers are the bomb, but I seriously hate that noise. GRRRRRRRR GRRRRRRRR
  14. Good plan. And as Grebel says above, use that cash for a cordless drill. Far more useful in the long run
  15. Nailers are useful for light work, such as trims, "skirtings" on bedside pedestal etc. I have seen plenty guys use them for carcasses for kitchens and BIC. I am personally not a fan of that, but it makes sense in that the strength of those units actually come, by and large, from being attached to each other and the wall. The downside of that is the nails hiding shelves in place are a weak point and once those start moving, then it is a problem. Reading through your post again, I'd offer this advise. If you go the nails route, ensure you use good quality runners on the drawers. This helps prevent the load on the joints being too high. Also, don't forget to allow for the nail to be seated slightly below the surface of the material. Don't use a 32mm nail on facings like melamine as it will punch through the other side We use screws to assemble all our carcasses. It takes longer, but is far stronger that way. The downside is if staff don't measure or aim straight, then screws can cause splitting if they put them in too close to the edges of the board. For light work around the factory, we use Brad nails, F15 and F32. Hope this helps
