  1. I could be completely off the mark here but i believe the strikers here in Western Cape seem to be less violent and actually more educated than other provinces. Can the organisers not approach the represented unoins and ask for a respite from striking on the day? i really honestly think they would abide to it. I believe these people have every reason to strike. i mean earning R100 per day is nuts for working in that heat the whole day. look, most of the strikes are during the week and is pretty quiet on the weekends when most of them spend time at home so hopefully nothing will come about.
  2. Can it not be sent off for a x-ray instead of being sanded?

  11. Nedbank Announces Termination of Team 360Life Sponsorship on November 9, 2012 in Local News http://www.bicycling.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/joberg2c8.jpgFileNedbank has decided to terminate its sponsorship of Team 360Life. In making this announcement, Nedbank is by no means withdrawing from cycling in South Africa but has rather decided to continue efforts and investment into other aspects of the sport, particularly youth development and events which benefit our clients, staff and communities. Nedbank currently has a significant involvement in cycling in South Africa, which includes a variety of developmental cycling initiatives as well as participating in a wide range of events, including Nedbank Tour de Tuli, Sani2C and the Cycle Tour. There will be no change to our level of support of these events. Nedbank’s decision was made all the more difficult given the immediate impact it has on riders Kevin Evans and James Reid who have represented Team 360Life and their sport commendably. This decision is in no way a reflection on either rider, but purely a consequence of recent events. Nedbank will continue to remunerate Kevin and James to the end of their contract periods, to ensure that they are not financially impacted by this decision. Kevin Evans said in a statement “It is sad to part ways with Nedbank who have been such faithful and fantastic sponsors and have offered so much support to my career and to the sport of cycling, including nurturing young world class talent. I realise how hard this decision has been for Nedbank but will continue to support them in their contribution to the development of cycling as well as their participation in a number of events in the cycling calendar.” We wish Kevin and James the very best for the future and take this opportunity to also thank those who supported Team 360Life. David George is no longer contracted with Nedbank following the release of his press statement and Nedbank will donate the balance of his contractual earnings to the South African Institute of Drug-Free Sport.
  12. +1 Tysons in the house
  13. At least you trying to give it a go Chris, good on you. i still maintain that there needs to be a sentence handed down for these cheats. Every type of steriod should have a penalty, from a min of 3 months to say 6months jail term. Once this is thrown in, i am pretty sure athletes would think twice. Can you imagine spending 3 months in jail in SA?
  14. Sweet! why dont you covert the drive train to a fixie?
  15. So end result should be ivory coloured frame and mud gaurds with matt blue flowers, couple new cables, chain, front basket, restored carrier, same colour blue rims(not sure where im getting this yet) and fatter white wall tyres.
  16. Seem like we on this topic of stripper and projects. got into a project of restoring an old bicycle for my wife. Been using remove all on the frame. even though it does strip the paint it is still a huge job of getting the final patches of paint off. my fingers are fricken sore from sanding. im also using the rust removal for handle bars and mud gaurds etc. heres a few pics of what i have done so far. finished the fork today and painted the flower with stencil.
  17. if im not in London that week, i can always do the photography probono?
  18. unfortunately i will never go back to them. once bitten twice bitten...
  19. Ok, so i just came back from the Doc for some blood tests. I posed the question to her about HGH. Pretty much as I was expecting, there is no good news with this "drug". A person my age 37 i wont get any taller and my body structure has grown to a point where it cant anymore. So taking the HGH will firstly cause a mass buildup as the body does not get taller, the only other way is outwards. so you pickup alot of muscle mass which obviously makes a person heavier, not good for a cyclist. The other thing is increased blood pressure and the heart also grows but not in a good way. Stroke and heart failure is a given. According to her its not a natural growth hormone...duh but it has much more negatives than positives, otherwise everybody would be on it.
  20. Please dont say that. My wife is German, and i have photographed Jens many times. It would truely be a very sad dark day in our house should he be proven to take a banned substance. im pretty sure my wife would not stop crying for days.
  21. Wow, this spud would have been fired on the spot and put back in his crib if he worked for me.
  22. So who is going to prescribe HGH for me?
  23. Hi all. My wife is big time into old school bikes. She already has one that we bought a few months ago. However when we were by my folks last week, i was talking to my dad in the garage and a old bike of my moms caught my eye resting on the rafters. its a old step through she used to ride about 25 years ago. So i took it home, stripped it down and am now in the process of getting it fixed up. so here are some questions. 1. where can i get coloured old school rims and white wall tyres? 2. where can i get a 6 speed chain from? so in general where can i get old school parts from in the cape town area?
  24. Should be on demand some time this week. normally takes 2 days or so.
