  1. Tell me that you did NOT use that foil !!!!
  2. Spokeshaves! did someone mention spokeshaves? I have a fettish about spokeshaves but don't own a single one. Want wooden ones not steel but will take steel too.
  3. Did you by any chance grind them on a wheel first. Chisel edges go brittle if overheated. Blade metal must never go blue even just a small spot if they do you re grind and you stay light on the pressure and keep moving the blade from side to side. I have the same chisels (can't get them anymore) and do not have that problem. No such thing as a TOO sharp chisel.
  4. When I do cut outs on kitchen tops I use a hand circular saw on the straights and only do the corners with a jigsaw I rub a good coating of silicon on the cut surfaces. I never use the clamps that come with the sink but make sure the mating surfaces are clean and cleaned with acetone. Put down a generous bead of silicon - wait 10 min and place sink. Put cut out on top of sink and then 3 to 4 cement blocks on top. Leave to cure for 24 HOURS. I have never had a sink pop up.
  5. "I obviously don't need a top dollar job as I am selling this so it just needs to look good." Replace it with a good quality top like Formica. It will cost a bit more - add R1k on to your selling price (that's not how much more it will cost). It will look better and last longer and the buyer won't sit with a crappy top. Think if you were buying the place. Just do it !!
  6. So does that give you license to run down someone else's bread and butter?
  7. So what are you sparky - an electrician - re-wirer - or a draadtrekker?
  8. Die draad tussen Naafland en die Plataarders moet eintlik verweider word want julle is op dieselfde paadjie.
  9. Werk nie op 'n spil pos nie.
  10. As dit maar al was !! Vir sommige is daar geen hoop nie of sal ek hulp sê.
  11. Contact GoReefers in Vioolsdrif or Noordoewer. I have taken in some sheets but it was with 4 tons of melamine sheets. It is a processed material.
  12. So you are ready to go again !!
  13. 2.4m x 44mm x 69mm R358
  14. No I did not buy any I will get it rough at that rare wood place.
  15. So the other day I buy some prime American Cherry at a company that sells rare woods and pay about R34k per cube (rough) and that was einas. 10 x 1.8m planks R3k. Then last week I go to a warehouse that sell builders material and looked at some Meranti - need some to repair a window frame. Nearly had a stroke on the spot. Meranti off the shelf - yes it was PAR but that softish stuff not the hard red one. When I converted the price it worked out to R39 000 per cube. . Am I missing something - am I getting old or am I just plain nuts?
  16. Not so in fact - household use is larger than agriculture and industry and by a large margin. City of Cape Town web page sets it all out for the WC area.
  17. The Steenbras Dam was built before your grandfather was in the army - how long ago is that. No more dams can be built in the WC. They are going to raise the Clanwilliam Dam by 10m or more but don't know if it will help us.
  18. Now ride down !!
  19. Gives slipstreaming a whole new meaning. Would slipstream all day long and never go to the front - who would blame me?
  20. They are ornamental and not for drinking - rather fragile and will not survive moisture either from drinking or washing.
  21. Oooh! that seat post clamp !!
  22. Why don't you answer that yourself? Or can't you?
  23. Why is this even being discussed? All it shows is bias. And to all the whippersnappers - those under 60 - come ride with me.
