  1. AlanD do you have a table-saw? (google biscuit joiner)
  2. No quick fix on this one. Best would be to take the door apart. Suspect the wood twisted after construction and it's just a butt joint. You need to get a biscuit or small tenon in there. Even if you manage to pull them together there is no glue that is going to hold that. Was the wood well seasoned?
  3. Keep on keeping on. My prayers are with you.
  4. Eish hectic !! Sterkte Barry my prayers are with/for you.
  5. Anything that is flavoured isn't beer. Went into a number of shops yesterday to look at craft beers and found that at least half of the craft beers are from overseas which is a pity and I was wondering if many of the local craft beers can still call themselves craft beers as most of them are made in micro-breweries. What would you call a craft beer? To me you can't call yourself a craft beer producer when your output is more than 5000 bottles per month - then you are a micro-brewer. (similar debate as to what is home-made)
  6. Capricorn - The Glen trail saboteur Please inform - who what where why ??
  7. Spoiler alert! Only open Sat and Sun in Dec and not on the 25th.
  8. WOW !! What a difference the rain made !! I was there at about midday today and hardly a soul in sight - so go NOW Not hot at all. Be aware boulders IS bi-directional Level 5 closed level 4 open. Cobra ride-able
  9. I would go tomorrow as early as possible - this bit of rain would have made a huge difference to the trails. Tokai will swallow a large amount of riders but I suspect some of the trails might not hold up when it dries up and by the end of the weekend plenty of repairs might need to done. BIG APPEAL to all - DO NOT lock up those rear wheels. Brake before the corners and remember to feather those brakes.
  10. Rode it yesterday and very ride-able (enjoyed it thoroughly) - just a schlepp to get to the entrance because of thick long grass. It has a new temp entrance. Does need some traffic - take care though.
  11. Tooooo busy riding to take pics. But man was it fun! Some great sections. Some sections are going to bite some people though - Mamba will as it is smooth - fast - great jumps and corners but if you get too eager the allien vegetation will swallow you. Please take it easy on the brakes - we desperately need some rain on the trails.
  12. Call Timber Tool in Maitland - talk to Graham
  13. Maktec is good as long as you are the only one using it. Tool prices are just way over the top - and they charge because we pay. Sometimes I think Ryobi is best because if it breaks you just throw it away and buy another. Buy three or four Ryobies for the price of any other.
  14. Did the rain get to your head??
  15. Nope! (You could put a layer of glass fiber over it)
  16. Don't bother guys - she's mine !!
  17. To those who would like to know more about PVA on MDF I'm back home in a week and a half at present doing a job in the Namibian desert near Aussenkehr. Connectivity hardly intermittent.
  18. Superglue will eventually fail - epoxy is the only way to go. You could try a product called "Sticks like sh.. ". Yes that is what it is called just finish the last word.
  19. MDF cuts and finishes beautifully For cutting I use a blade with many teeth best with smaller tips a thin kerf blade also gives better results. What kind of finish do you want. Use only what we call chipboard screws (not plasterboard screws) and pre-drill with a drill bit at least 80% the thickness of the shank and at least 75% the depth of the screw. Stay at least 40 to 50mm away from a corner with screws. If you are going to use glue the an extra helping on the edge please - sucks in like crazy. Be sure to give it a light sanding before applying finish. If you are going to paint it with PVA let me know and maybe call me and I will tell you how to get a crazy smooth finish.
  20. Hairy - before using a steam iron and a wet cloth just take some water and a sosati stick . Dip stick (back end) in water and transfer the drop on the end onto the mark (just the mark). Keep that mark wet (not damp) for 10min or more when the water dries later on you will find that the indented mark will rise up. Can repeat. Then use the iron and wet cloth method. Yellowwood - pine - oregan - just get used to the marks. I have words written on some pine desks from ball point pen on single sheet paper.
  21. New bike - take it back to the store and tell them to sort it out. There should hardly be any difference. (Make of brakes?) Just remember rear brakes always take longer to stop a bike - there is science behind it. But there should be no difference in the operation of the front and rear brakes.
  22. Lotus I would use Tung oil for outdoor furniture - more waterproof and more hard-wearing. It must be real tung oil though - many products named tung oil with only a squidion of oil.
  23. Once you have applied Woodoc you are basically stuck with it as nothing will stick to it and a bugger to remove (almost impossible).. Glatex 8 is about the best option for wooden kitchen tops.
  24. Router - just round over the sharp edges.
  25. And if infected with wood borer.
