  1. All so it can be that that Van der Poel and Van Aert have just exceptional power from ridding cyclo cross from a very young age, must be one of the hardest cycling disciplines, also think Marianne Vos. In any sport you some times get outstanding athletes that is above the rest, Greg Minnaar, Nino, Danie Gerber, I can name a long list. Van der Poel and Van Aert was from a young age far above the rest in every age group. they complete. Dopers is average or just above average and become the best due to doping. Think of a South African mountain biker that was all ways outside the top 20 in world cup races and then suddenly one day he was up in top 3 or 4 and then got caught doping.
  2. The cobbled classics are raced over a combination of asphalt and cobblestones, frequently on tight and winding rural lanes. Some of the cobbled classics are mainly flat, such as Paris-Roubaix and Scheldeprijs, but others include a barrage of short and sharp hills, such as the Tour of Flanders and E3 Harelbeke. They are traditionally won by powerful riders who are expert bike-handlers on the cobbles, such as Fabian Cancellara or Tom Boonen. The Ardennes classics are hilly races that all take place in the Ardennes region of Belgium and the Netherlands. They have as much as 4,500m of vertical ascent and a race-deciding climb close to the finish. There are three Ardennes classics, all of which take place within the space of a week in April: Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. They are usually won by pure climbers, such as Alejandro Valverde or Joaquim Rodriguez, or riders who can power their way up short and sharp climbs, such as Philippe Gilbert or Simon Gerrans. The most notable race not to fit into any of the above categories is Milan-San Remo, which contains late climbs but is usually seen as a Classic for sprinters such as Mark Cavendish, who won the race in 2009. Another exception is Strade Bianche in Italy, which takes place over a combination of asphalt and gravel and includes a decisive late climb.
  3. The climbs was short power climbs, not 10 km mountain climbs that favour the climbers Not many pure climbers ride the one day spring classics, They will target the autumn one day races that favour them.
  4. MVDP also did less road racing than Wout as he also did MTB racing. Not possible to compare them by their careers.
  5. I live in the UK and the MERIDA Rear Derailleur Hanger DH-053 is freely available here, even on Amazone and ebay. The DH-053 hanger is used on a lot of merida models, the merida agents in South African must have stock. r2 bikes have stock, price is 7 euros but I see they quote 29 euros DHL courier cost to SA.
  6. External companies quoted me between R 10 000.00 and R 12 000.00 per bike box if send by plane. Shipping is cheaper, but take about 2 months plus, depend how long it take the shipping company to fill the container.
  7. I moved to the UK in January. I booked with KLM and paid for an extra 23kg for me and 23kg for my wife. Packed a road bike and 2 x MTB’s in the 2 boxes I made from hardboard cable ties and duck tape to KLM bike box dimensions. The boxes cost me less than R 200 to make and all three bikes arrived in the UK with no damaged.
  8. Bleeding Sram brakes easy.

  14. With a single support leg, with the rotation option, I can also add a tilt option and height adjustment option with adding the tool racks as ChrisF suggest will make it the ultimate work stand.
  15. Thank you for the advice, I like the idea of the pipe concrete in to to floor and then a single support in the centre that fit in to the pipe. It stand permanent at same place, but I will still be able to move it out of way if necessary.
  16. I am going to change te support legs to a flat 6mm steel base plate design that have a slightly v bend in centre to add stiffness and the sides of the support base will then be only 6mm high from the floor. Will all so chamfer the edge so the tripping will then not be an issue.
  17. I have built this prototype work stand to repair and service mountain bikes. I can strip the whole bike to only the frame, when the bike is on the stand, the handlebars can be supported when removing the fork, the fork can be supported when removing the handlebars with the stem to remove the fork. Pedals left or right side can be locked to remove the pedals or to lock the crank arm to toque Sram crank arm bolt. The Bike do not hang on the seat post or swivel around while working on the bike, no clamping to carbon top tube, bike is secure and sturdy, can apply the necessary force to remove screw in BB while bike is on the stand. The stand use two types of base supports for different types of frames, but the base support can be change in a few seconds. The attachment to support the bars, fork and lock pedals is quick to fit or remove and can be adjust. The stand can be fold close or open a few seconds to store.
