  1. I had my fall for the year at Cullinan thank you very much. Crashed hard on the Diamond dump downhill. I posted photos in the Diamond rush thread somewhere. Broke my new Helmet. Iesh. But I still managed to finish 4th in the 40km. About the youngish guy that did the faceplant: Me and Thys and a couple of other okes got lost/missed a marker. We lost some time (About 2/3 minutes) trying to find the route again. Anyway, we caught up with some of the guys that passed us while we were playing hide and seek. And one of these was the faceplant kid. It was on a slight incline. he looked tired and he tried to hang onto the wheel in front of him. Just before we got to the rocky section, I passed him. I think he tried to hard to match the pace. I heard him crash behind me but could not afford to look around. The crash sounded bad, but I heard no groans comming from him so I thought he was ok...Iesh. Mr de Jongh, If you had juice left for Babba's on Sunday...Damn!
  2. Well I cracked my new Bell Sweep on the Minedump downhill. How's that?
  3. The place where all ALU bikes go? Welding points!!! Hope you can get her fixed.
  4. I like the Maguras. They are reliable, good stopping power and offer good control. So why do I want to upgrade? Well, the Strokers on the wifes bike are k@k - so I'd like to give her the Maguras and upgrade mine. But what would be considered a good upgrade???
  5. Nee, hy LYK net so oud...
  6. Ek wens Lance wil nou maar net uit die kas uit klim en admit hy dope...net sodat die topics met rus kan kom...
  7. My leg after the op in Aug '08. Oh I love my wife for being a sports physio - even though I know they are HIGHLY underpaid! I tore my ligaments right out oh the meniscus. Both of them. The doc had to use a piece of my hamstring to keep my legs together. (My right hammie is now a bit smaller than my left one...)
  8. I am a firm believer that quality beats quantity hands down.
  9. Friday 45km road ride Saturday 120min road ride Sunday 120min road ride - with some insane windy conditions!
  10. Ek hou nie van Bakkies nie. Het nog nooit nie, sal ook nie. Maar... Miskien is bakkies in die span vir 'n "ander" doel. Jy sien, ek speel eerder saam Bakkies as TEEN bakkies...
  11. Monday 30min cardio thing 60min gym work (legs only) Tuesday 60min gym work (upper body) Wednesday REST. REST. zzz...zzz Thursday 30min run (Still have to measure how far...) 60min intervals on the IDT
  12. I know you already ordered your bike, but I just want to comment on the weight thing. I weigh about 85kg' and ride the GT Zaskar Pro. Trust me, the frame can handle it!!! But one thing is for sure - the Zaskar is a raceing machine and thu harder and more unforgiving. But I have done longer races on it without any discomfort. But then again, what work for me, might not work for you.
  13. It is so funny how we as humans chose to defend the honour of people we don't even know! If you support LA or AC and someone disses them, you are ready to kick ass and take names!!! LIKE THEY CARE??? (You van add lance as a friend on facebook and then tell him how you called another dude that you don't even know a "poepol" just because he called your facebook friend a "pansy") Co'mon, grow up...Or at least try... I support Lance...But if het gets his ass handed to him - so be it. If you don't like him - I couldn't care less...But to go into idiot mode over it...INSANE!
  14. I remember this kid in the Virgin Active gym in Kby - he was 14...and using Deca... I'd rather just let them use the roids. Nothing you say or do will change their minds. If they wanna use it, LET THEM!!! If enough people die, maybe then it will sink in how dangerous that sh!t can be...It always has to go to the extreme before it sinks in!!!
  15. Hey Stewie, last week I tried soemthing new on the rowing machine...My tong het op die grond gesleep - en dit was net 10min!
  16. My next race will be the 3rd Nissan series race...And since dirt-rider called me a...a...a roadie, I decided to take on the full marathon as a once-off. I have done only 2 other marathon races - both this year: 70km @ babbas (12th) and the 75km @ Suikerbosrand (5th) So, just for fun. Lets compare training notes and see what the result will be on the 24th: (Rider weight 86kg) Saturday 50min run. (Dunno how far...) - morning 30min indoor bike TT - afternoon Sunday 50min leg strength training in the gym using weights etc. 60min endurance ride on the trainer @ 80/90rpm Monday 30min stretch 60min interval thing Tuesday 60min upper body weigh training 30min core Wednesday 30min run 60min interval tongue on the floor type thing. Thursday REST Friday 120min op die spin fiets in die gym. MIND NUMBING. Seker maar "sielkundige" oorlog... Saturday 45km opdie pad fiets. So teen 90%. Heerlik koud buite. Sondag 30km TT padlangs. (oggend) 30km survival. (middag)
  17. And to think he teached himself...
  18. So you think I am letting the grass grow underneath my wheels? WW, I am an old man...I needed the rest...Hehehehehe.
  19. I'd rather have grass sucked into my cassette than getting sucked into a singlespeed myself.
  20. So, this ALWAYS happens to me...While doing the FAST&FLIPPING COLD, I again got some grass Stuck in the cassette. So much so, that the bottom 3 gears were rendered useless. The Chain kept skipping in those gears as it was not able to "fit" between the cogs anymore. So I was sitting on on someone's backwheel, minding my own business and I noticed his cassette was "grass free". The difference only being that my jockey wheels were the bling KCNC one's and he had the "plastic stuff." So the question is: Are the KCNC jockey wheels getting more grass in my cassette or am I just unlucky in that way?
  21. JB, my wife did 5km's during Saterdays race at Walkerville. The chain/broke/came loose directly at the powerlink...Whish I had more info but I don't so although slim, it does happen!
  22. It is time for a short story since a lot of people are getting mugged with knifes... About 4 years ago, I was the victim of a "farm attack". It was a friend's parents place and I looked after the pets while they were away. So one day, I arrived on the farm, unlocked the front door and stepped inside. I saw a cupboard door open accross the halway. I walked across to it to go and close it. The f**ker was hiding behind an adjacent wall and as I stepped passed him, him came after me with a steak knife. Dunno why he chose a steak knive as there where big ass knives in the kitchen. Lickilly as he moved, he brushed against a painting hanging on the wall. This made me turn around... He stabbed me through the left hand as I tried to keep him off me...I landed I right hook (on instinct mainly) right on his jaw und knocked him the hell out. He went down like a ton of bricks... I didn't hang around to get his number...I just ran outa' the house, into the bakkie and sped off... When the police arrived they found the knocked out guy still knocked out...He couldn't speak because he had a dislocated/broken? jaw. f**ker. My right hand was cut from the "vuishou" and my left hand lost all feelling in the middle finger. I can still smell his stink ass to this day... Point of this story is: Don't try and be hero. I later found out he had some friends waiting in the kitchen. They had guns...I was lucky... You can outrun a knife. But you can't outrun a bullet.
  23. DAMN! I live in PTA east "almost" next door to Single Track. And like WW said, Bennie is really a good guy. Hannes as well. I have had my bike there for a shock service and recently some new wheel bearings. Never had problems. I'd like to hear their side of the story as well. This is bad...But then again, it could have happened anywhere...
  24. Ai dude, sorry to here that. I try and avoid PTA CBD as much as I can. I avoid "car gaurds" as far as possible. Net omdat van daai manne nie 'n "car gaurd" se gat werd is nie! When I get close to where I should be and am about to park, I pack the GPS away. I also switch off my phone so that I won't get distracted by stupid phone calls. Oh, and I try to look mean and pissed off...That helps too...
