  1. So I know that alot of you guys struggle with chronic sport injuries. Here is a unique opportunity, should you be interested. The Lyno Method is focussed on finding and eliminating the cause of spontaneous and recurring injuries in athletes i.e. Piriformis Syndrome, ITB syndrome, runner’s knee, shin splints, chronic muscle tears, Achilles Tendinitis etc.: The method was developed over a period of 12 years by physiotherapist and Runner’s World columnist, Benita de Witt. She has been using this technique over the years on numerous professional international athletes with huge success. She presented the method at the First International Fascia Conference held at Harvard Medical School in 2007 and has published a paper on this method in the British Journal of Bodyworks and Movement Therapy in 2009. Benita de Witt is coming to Pretoria, and will be presenting a workshop on Friday the 22nd of October at the Hazeldean centrum in Pretoria East. (Intercare medical centre) The workshop will teach athleates in all sports the following: 1. How to determine the cause of the injury 2. What you need to do to fix the injury 3. How to prevent re-currance of the injury if you are interested, you can contact my wife at ivdmerwe81@hotmail.com / simply leave me a PM. More info available at: lynosport.co.za Workshop is from 17h00 - 20h00 the Friday. Cost: R450
  2. Since when do 20 year old girls cook and clean? NOT A CHANCE BOET!!!
  3. My favourite flower...And my wifes favourite flower...
  4. I DNF'd on my first race..And it was only 20km's... So well done.
  5. Just a bit of a highjack... My wifes Polar's battery went flat. She was told to send it in to Polar which will take 2 weeks to replace. It took me 4 minutes te replace the battery which cost me R7 at dischem. I noticed polar charges R50 for a simmilar battery. In my opinion they are a bunch of sharks. The end.
  6. I can see my house from here...Ok, dis nie so erg nie!!!
  7. May I share my story? My wife got a flat at the Nissan Cullinan race. Dude stopped to help her. My wife said the second he started, she knew she was in trouble. To make a long story short - he ruined a presta tube by totally unscrewing that little thingy on top of the valve and thus dropped the valve core into the tube. He tried bombing it. But is soon as he took the bomb off the tube deflated. DUH!!! The best part was however that he managed to put in one of his tubes into her bikes rim. How he did it, only he will know: His tube had a schreader valve! Took him 25minutes!
  8. Just on 8,9 and 10 speeds - I read in a magazine that the new Shimano 10 speed XTR can only run with the new Shimano 10 Speed XTR chain... I bet in the future we will start seeing more of this... Once you buy it, you are stuck with it!
  9. Nope. It is the size of your wifes right arm bicep that matters - if she is right handed of course! That is the muscle she will use when she grabs you by the throat because you accidently bumped over her nighstand and broke her R600 bottle of facial cream... Or so I have been told.
  10. I find this thread amusing. Really. It's like being in a public toilet standing at the urinal checking out the guy next to you's schlong! Not that Pookie and Co will know what that means.
  11. But here is the thing - it doesn't matter what you use, you have to put tension on the chain - so your chain has to be in the drivetrain AND you have to have tension on the chain when measuring.
  12. Hokaai boys. you are assuming the chain/cassette is worn and needs to be replaced I had a slipping chain. I stuck my bike on the prep stand and turned the crank over. I noticed the chain slipped in the same place all the time. I found a single bent tooth on the chainring. Another slip - The power link was kaput. Kept on catching on the cassette between cogs. Another slip caused by some small damage on the cassette. Took a small file and sorted it one time. Some slippage caused by a dirty/worn derailer cable/housing once. Replaced cables and housing. Also overhauled the derailer just for ****s and giggles. And cleaned the shifter Point is - A slipping drivetrain needs to be investigated by you BEFORE you take it to the LBS. That way you know when the are selling you BS. I have used the same chain from January 2010. It's still good. Granted, I clean and lube my chain/drivetrain often.
  13. Johan, don't know if anyone ever asked you this before but: (Mtb wheels) 1. If money was not a problem and you could build a wheelset, what rims, spokes, hubs etc would you use? 2. And for an entry level? ie. cheapest VALUE FOR MONEY wheelset? 3. Lastly, what criteria do you use when building a wheel? ie cost, weight, bearings etc. I know Burry Stander once said that he looks at bearings first and then weight! I hate it when paople ask "what is the best?"
  14. 10 million whatevers - Uhm, I weigh more than the bike so I don't know. Sorry! The frame weighs 1.56. The fork weighs 1.36 And that is the only weights I know.
  15. Manitou R7. Had it for a year now - does exactly what I want it to. Lighter than the Fox that came with the bike and just as good. Came with a nice manual so I can service it myself.
  16. Not completely done...but almost.
2. John Smit - Goed, jy het nou jou 100 games. Boggerof nou. 3. Jannie Du Plessis - Hoeveel keer hoor jy sy naam in 'n game? Net as hy beseer is. 4. Habanna - Eerder Aplon vir Habanna! 5. JP Pietersen - Sy broek was silwerskoon vandag en laas naweek. Useless 6. 8. Frans Steyn - OVER RATED!!! 10. P divvie!!!
  18. Just wating to get build!
  19. 30.06km/h in 1994. No it is not a typo! 30.06km/h! Not impressed? Ok, would you be if I told you I was in st.9? Still not impressed? Ok, how about if I tell you that was my average speed over 400m. Still not impressed? Ok, what if I told you I was wearing running spikes...
  20. Wannabee, I sent you a PM as I am going through the same thing... But in the meantime I found a partial sollution: A wireless power monitor meter from Comminica for R500. Going there tomorrow to check it out.
  21. You know, it cuts both ways. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is being in a RACE an then having slower folk in front of you on a singletrack? It does not help to fight each other. The sollution lies with the organisers. Two races I will never do again: 1. The Lionman 2. The lost city Why? A partial sollution is to have a seeding system like in the Nissan series. It keeps the racers and the riders apart to a good extent. Neither one of the above races have that and there were 500 cyclists in the 50km race of the lost city!
  22. So between my wife and I. neither of us is a morning person and thus we arrived in the parking lot of the Lost city MTB race on Sunday at 07:36. We got geared up and had a mad rush to the blue houses and were in the starting 50km pen by 07:48. Which meant we were flipping close to the back end. Anyway, the race started and stright away I started working my way through the traffic as quikly as I could. At around about 10km, I caught up to a group that contained about 4 gents and 2 ladies. These would be the ladies that finshed 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 - not 100% sure. After one exists the first tunnel underneath the road, a group of us missed the left turnoff. We kept going straight. We were about 7 that were standing around trying to figure out where to now, when the 2 ladies and there male "groupies" came blitzing past. I shouted at them that we were all on the wrong route but they either did not hear me or just plain ignored me. I decided to track back all the way untill I find the right route again. Which I did. I lost a huge chunk of time and places but I kept my head down and the pistons pumping. At around 35km I caught one of the ladies that was in the group I caught at 10km's...AGAIN... Now, I know that they did not stop and turn around when I shouted at them so I have no idea where they rejoined the race. I also know that the rules state that one must rejoin the race in the same place one has left it. This lady finshed top 3... The question is: What would you do? Would you inform race officials or not? Fact is - she and others, cheated. I am sure it was not their intention...But that is why we have rules. And rules are rules. But what would you have done? Would you have gone back? And Would you have informed the officials?
  23. No thanks - I'm married. Besides, your not even my type.
Bitter min. Hier in GP is daar omtrent elke naweek erens 'n race. Vrystaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!
