  1. Now that's a good idea. Without sounding anal, is a red light more/less effective for this? the reason I ask is I have plenty of cheapie red jobs that I could use, but v few white ones.....
  2. I recollect there used to be 'The Hub' cycling kit. Not sure how official it was etc. When the I-team tried for a sub-3 947 a couple of years ago, we looked at Hub tops but there weren't any available at such short notice. I'd think there's definitely a gap that needs to be filled?
  3. So BikeHub branded Anatomic-produced cycling kit can't be too far down the pipeline?? Just-in-time for 947.......
  4. Exceptionally generous offer Andrew - many thanks. Nice to see a brand back itself - well done! I'll give you a shout via PM, if I'm able to take you up on the offer of a 30% discount. I'm in the process of preparing for a move to the UK later this year so I may be desperate for 30% off of a down-stuffed, goretex, lycra onsie! A Scottish winter is not for sissy-cyclists!
  5. CTCT 2018, fully weather-proofed courtesy of Zwift.....
  6. Has anyone else experienced the gripper strips on bib shorts coming off after very little use? I bought a pair of bibs a while ago and the strips starting coming off. (Sadly I never got round to taking them back....not helped by lots of weight loss around that time so now they wouldn't fit anyway!)
  7. Isn't it amazing, despite how rationale and zen one might be in general, that when you get clipped, how animal one becomes?! Years ago, a driver hooked my front QR in the rear wheel arch of their car and dragged me upright fortunately for a few metres until I wrestled myself free. Suffice to say my sprint to catch them at the next robot was world-class as was my inability to contain my ranting.....shamefully so perhaps.
  8. Each to their own. At least you're drinking beer, and from Scotland nogal!
  9. Well, GrahamS2 suggested the beer would be stale. You replied with comments related to barrel storage time and a high IBU. So my reply to you, was based on the bacteriostatic effect of hops and their partial benefits in imparting a longer microbial stability. Staling, in the context of beer, most commonly refers to oxidative staling. Hops don't afford a significant functional benefit in this regard, beyond masking oxidative taste products. Oxidative aromatics, such as trans 2-nonenal, aren't readily masked by iso-alpha acids or other non-BU hop aromatics. So what's my point/s: 1. High BUs don't functionally afford extended flavour stability. But they can mask the taste of oxidative products. 2. High BUs will impart an extent of microbial stability, although this is restricted to Acetobacter metabolites, rather than those from Lactobillus. 3. If you're not a beer-staling advocate, maybe you've made your mind up already? Or maybe you're not an effective taster for oxidative by-products?
  10. I think that was a Mexican ball, or wall?
  11. Microbial stability and flavour stability aren't the same thing.....
  12. The ones from Ryder, via CWC, look a bit neater perhaps? http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/ryder-seatpost-clamp-water-bottle
  13. Topeak do a clamp-on cage mount. Don't know if the size matches the seat tube ext dia? https://www.topeak.com/global/en/products/Bottle-Cages/332-cagemount
  14. Ah, true. Well in which case, perhaps cutting yourself some slack, and enjoying whatever your body offers you in the interim, is the best solve on offer? Good luck.
  15. I'm not that kind of Doctor, but perhaps question what 'changed' between no-cramps and cramps? eg diet, supplements, training program, new mattress, pillows, new car etc etc. List them all, however absurd they may appear, and then systematically go through the list and query whether each line item has any significance or otherwise to create a list of hot-items and then change back and re-assess.
  16. Without wishing to open a can of worms, can I ask what the rationale was in increasing the cut-off from 11 to 12 hours?
  17. Probably discussed at length elsewhere, but erosion of standards and sense of expectation permeates many other aspects of modern society, why should an iconic ultra-marathon be any different? Answer: cos it's an iconic ultra-marathon, that's why!
  18. Well hopefully the organisers are making the most of the data available to them and creating some evidence-based hypotheses, rather than doing some cosmetic changes to redress the 10 min through the start 'issue', which may have no basis...
  19. Fair point, and I agree with you (and I'll never run a Comrades!). Just looking for logic, and predicted benefits, based on this year's data, of moving the halfway mats backwards.
  20. Re DNFs, any idea of how many dropped out during the race, vs those who 'finished' but outside the cut-off time? And/or the numbers for those who missed the halfway cut-off vs the final cut-off?
  21. Sweet looking dogs. And as a bonus, they come fully SEAL trained too!
  22. Sounds like it, but maybe the SA version put a little more emphasis on heat? Pavements can get bubbly hot for poochie paws and many a vet will have been presented with burnt pads from apologestic owners, and they obviously can't sweat so need some consideration in avoiding over-heating eg running out of the heat of the day, carrying a water bottle for your pooch, wetting their head and neck etc.
  23. I seem to remember a Runners World article a few years ago on running with dogs (possibly where Stretch's diagram comes from?). maybe it's Google-able? When I used to run, mainly on sand roads, my GSP loved to lead the way. He was 3-4 yrs at the time. Still have v fond memories of the palaver when trying to get his harness on and those early morning runs watching the sun coming up together. Miss that pooch and our times together...
  24. What's the expression? "Sex between a man and woman can be a great thing. The trick is getting between the right man and woman..."
