  1. How do the other clubs better manage their groups?
  2. And the Kaffenback is a lovely looking frame! Slowbee.....don't be slow.
  3. Didn't have time to find perhaps a more appropriate topic for this, but it relates to cycling safety, so here goes..... Thanks are due to the oke on a superbike on Sat 24 Feb, on Cedar Ave, Fourways. As I sat at the front of the traffic waiting for the red to change, the biker and I shared a little visual joke about racing away from the line. Anyway when the lights changed, he put his bike directly in front of the car-driver who tried to jump the traffic and turn right in front of us both; a move which would have put the car 'pretty close' to me as I pedalled away from the newly green light to cross the junction had the biker not stopped the car. Not only did he block the car, and rev the **** out of his bike to alert the driver, but he clearly exposed himself to greater risk than he needed to. Thanks dude. I don't think I lacked visibility (1030, loud jersey, headlight on full, positioned stationary at the front of the traffic waiting for the red to change etc). Just another car driver who was in a 'hurry' and saw a chance to try and avoid waiting until the junction cleared. The positive in this? Perhaps making 'positive contact' with fellow road users can benefit you, rather than 'only' flipping the bird at the inevitable carelessness we're exposed to.
  4. Something seems fishy about this.......
  5. I'm sure Patch believes you could have a very bright rear light with a saddle bag.......petrol and a match?!
  6. I have an X, and for a confirmed roadie, it has put a smile on my face when going off-road (however tame the off-road actually is). Even out on the road, although more sluggish (I used components I had so no trimming of weight was considered) it's still fun and would make a great commuter. Also liked the look of the Escapade, but fate didn't allow me to go that route. Maybe sometime?
  7. I make no claim of gold standard, but if you insist........
  8. Tyre labels are misaligned against valves; valve length mismatched; RD not in smallest sprocket; and....someone crashed it into a guitar stand!
  9. Imagine....The Anatomic Munga 2018. R1M sponsorship for a winner takes all 1st prize?! Without putting you on the spot, and if I am, feel free to duck it, but hypothetically, do you reckon Anatomic could get greater than R1M advertising benefit from a R1M sponsorship? The answer might help give perspective to the difficulty in getting a R1M sponsor?
  10. Or use a small pedestal fan to blow air on your clothes - also dries quite quickly.
  11. Came in late, but how many Hubbers are riding? And what are their real-world names?
  12. The details of this incident are less interesting, ie the rights and wrongs of it all, than the fervour which the incident has incited. I wonder what it is that revs people up, when their journey is delayed by 2 minutes or so and they have to exercise a bit of consideration for a fellow road user? (And you can substitute bicycle, car, taxi, truck etc wherever you wish). Human are such strange organisms...
  13. Still not snapped up that Hubber on the transfer list?
  14. Sedibeng?
  15. Jeez, my commission points must be sky-high by now!
  16. Someone, not me, was looking for hi-viz yellow tops in JHB. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/160804-please-apply-visibility-on-the-road/?p=3225921
  17. You sure? The weardirect.co.za site only shows 4 cycling items. Your 'old' site showed lots more. Or is it me?
  18. Anatomic do. Or I'm sure PPA will have a stand at the 947 Expo this weekend, for their hi-viz tops.
  19. I'm not going to get into this, particularly as I was aiming my posts as discussional. Happy bike fitting.
  20. You make a fair point, particularly with regard to road to TT positions, although those are quite small changes relative to 6cm, as well as moving away from a grossly 'bad' saddle height. I suppose I look at it this way; if one wasn't sore in the old position, presumably because one had adapted to that bad position, then there would be little reason to expedite the change to avoid potential injury from the status quo. Any change from that position, be it small or large, in terms of cms, or a more aggressive position would likely need a period of adaption, so time, take it easy, keep the distance down etc, and on-going review. (If one wanted to apply basic experimental design, one wouldn't change anything else at the same time eg other activities etc, but life is too short!). EmJayZA's comments about more power & going longer (both changes as well), sore quads, suggest to me, that adaption to a large change may have been flawed (but how would I know?!). So maybe the positional change could have been adapted to more slowly in terms of time/effort etc, or maybe the positional change could have happened more slowly? Or maybe neither were the 'problem' and the increase in running mileage was the issue?? In my case, which obviously influences my thinking, I know I adapt v slowly to change, so if my road bike position changes, by less than 5mm, I get knee and ITB issues. If I move between 2 bikes with differing set-ups infrequently enough, I get knee and ITB issues. An aggressive position, for me, needs lots of back stretching, to avoid messing with my SI, pelvis, hammie, quad, ITB, knee chain. But I know mates who can adapt at the drop of a hat!
  21. I'm sure it's just the angle of the photo, but that saddle tilt looks suspect...... Anyway, my view is that a 6cm saddle lift, all at once, is risky. Better doing it in increments, or if all-at-once really had to be done (and why?), then one should take it very easy and not revel in the newly available power. FYI a cycling link on cycling and knee pain and bike position.....http://www.kneeclinic.info/knee_sports_injuries_cycling.php
  22. Such a drastic change in saddle height, probably would have been better introduced either gradually over time, or if done all at once, then take it very easy to let your body adapt. That's a lot for your body to get used to....as it's telling you.
  23. Google has revealed the secret of her success.......
