I agree, well sort of... Singletrack does cause congestion, unless the race is carefully planned. If the organisers give the field enough time to spread and "sort themselves out" this shouldn't be a problem. I think that nowadays race organisers get this right more often than not. It's also quite peculiar how congestion becomes less of an issue the fitter you get...

Which shop?

Cycling, especially MTB'ing, has grown massively and our own retailers (LBS') are now screwing us over. It's always funny to me how you phone every cycling shop in the city and everyone will give you exactly the same price on the same product. The LBS' do it to themselves. If the tax on tax on tax that you pay when you import isn't even a barrier anymore then you know how wrong they've got it and how badly we are being screwed over.

It doesn't make sense that a reputable company like Polar would release something that doesn't work. But it also doesn't make sense that no one here can get this "technology" to work. So, either we're all idiots or Polar screwed up. Will struggle again with it tonight... hope for the best...

Smaller races like the ones you did are usually less organised than the bigger races like Lion Man, Argus mtb, MTN series, Nissan series, etc. The more people organise races the more they learn about avoiding congestion, properly marking the course, etc. checkout www.mtbseries.co.za First race is in June. Should be pretty well orgainsed...

As far as I know the IT 1 is a downhill bike. If that is what you are going to do, it looks like a good bike.

I got my new Polar CS300 and it's pretty cool, except for this Sonic Link thing! I am struggling to connect, the software only says that there's no answer from the CS300. It doesn't even begin to transfer. Do I need a Polar microphone??? I assumed that any mic would work. If there's anyone that got this to work, please help! Thanks!!
