  1. Also consider the fact that it's quite hard for a rider to ride up to all of his teammates and have a chat in a bunch of 200 guys traveling at 50km/h - If they aren't sitting close to where you are in that big group it takes considerable effort simply just to reach them.
  2. Haven't read the whole thread, but the radio ban is a dumb idea. 14 Teams echoed this in the petition yesterday, and anyone else who has ever raced with radios in a big bunch of 180 riders will agree. Consider the following situation: A team's rider has a jersey to defend. All the guys are racing in a bunch of 180 riders. The rider defending the jersey punctures/crashes somewhere in the bunch but none of his teammates see this. How does he let his team know that he needs teammates to help him back? Dunno about you, but I would not want a GC contender to be taken out of contention because of an unimely mechanical incident or crash that could have easily been rectified by quick communication.
  3. Saw on Doug Ryder's twitter that Burry won U23 ahead of Matthys Beukes and Mariske Strauss won junior women. Not sure of the rest unfortunately.
  4. Most boring TDF? I'm guessing you did not watch the 2002 TDF then.
  5. At student tour? No TT equipment was allowed to keep it fair.

She's from Owen's Nashua ladies team Not sure who won the drinking contest last night. The tour was a lot of fun - as always.
  7. Shaun-nick Bester maintains the lead today after finishing 8th on the stage. One stage to go for him to be the overall winner. Let's hope they can pull this off.

  9. No TT's, so the boys have a very good chance of maintaining the lead in this tour. Good luck!!!
  10. Looks like some nice time gaps. Van Zyl 44 seconds ahead of 4th place on GC if I read the results right. Are there any time trials in this tour? Battling a bit with my internet connection, so couldn't manage to get on to the UCI calender to check the stages.
  11. Hulle het op supercycling gese dit was n nuwe reel vir die Giro om dit te toets. Het nie veel van die stages gesien nie so kan nie se of hulle wel gehad nie?? On Super Cycling they said the French national championships will be raced without radio's (Marc Madiot pushed the decision to have it tested at their national championships). Race radio's were definitely allowed at the Giro this year, although I think Di Luca raced without one. For interest sake, Bouyges Telecom (now Bbox Telecom) raced Grand Prix de Plumelec without radio's last year as a test, and still managed to take the victory via Thomas Voeckler.
  12. Daar was radio's by die Giro.
  13. They are separated already. All the amateurs are racing here and our only pro is playing in the US somewhere. Carla Swart? Don't forget about Arien...
  14. In my opinion it might actually be a good idea if you think about it in this way - What is the difference between a 27 year old working full-time, and a 32 year old working full-time? Physically not much in my opinion, and yet one guy has to race elites, and the other gets to race in an age group that is much easier. Is this fair? Keep in mind the ages of Evans, Menchov, Di Luca, Sastre, Leipheimer, Basso, etc. All are older than 30, which might serve as proof that 30 is not some kind of physical turning point. Just my opinion.
  15. Looks like Christie is putting it in the gutter!
  16. This is just classic! Really made me laugh.
  17. Apparently it's not televised in the US either. Phen2009-05-06 10:32:11
  18. Just for interest sake, at Active Worx you pay from R1500p.m. upwards for a training program, so R900p.m. isn't that bad. Although I know of quite a few coaches less expensive than R900p.m.
