oh you grumble and mope excellently. yip they did! admittedly was watching on the sly. a 7 hr procrastinate, hey? See, I was sposed to do that. but I think the weight of my very unfinished thesis would've make me take much longer....and my team chickened out.

Thanks, you def got a smile out of this grumpy girl!
  5. I'm working and it's Saturday and there's rugby on and I havent been for a ride cos I'm working. Did I mention I was working? AND the HUB is dead dead dead quiet. who knew it was such a useless distraction on a weekend. How am I sposed to procrastinate. grumble. mope.
  6. Well I did my best... Tania (Raats) and I arrived in Joburg at 5:30. Got to the hotel at er 6:35. The thing started at 7:00. Im proud to say I went from scruffy mtn bike girl to less scruffy, elegant lady in 20 min. Tania took 5 min longer, but then she had to blow dry her hair... oh the trials and tribulations. Our escort nearly fell over because we were so quick!
  7. ANYWAY apart from this whole language thing.. was a very cool evening, was interesting to see the cream of SA cycling and meet a couple of them and a couple of race organisers. Everyone looked beautiful, well organised and the event was well run. Respect to all those who are on top of the pile.
  8. I'm pretty sure if you look back there is a huge thread on the pro's and con's of these 2...
  9. It all depends what you want to spend really... and whether you plan to ride in the rain. I agree with Ti's comments, but is that what you want? Also if you haven't tried you don't know any better and you will love your good pair of V's. You don't want to know how awesome a good set of discs are...it hurts your wallet. but you will still fork out.
  10. If it's for fun..how often are you planning to ride in the pouring rain?
  11. no worries, except I look very grumpy. . that's more like it! Fatty: I never claimed I didnt ride on the road I just choose mtn bike over road bike consistently.

  13. are these for real though?
  14. nice guys thanks, very sweet. The one day I'm at a conference and there are all these interesting threads. hah.
  15. ah honest avrons... just know EXACTLY what you want and if you don't know take someone who does. you can def get some good deals.
  16. still got it and rode it for IMANA. Was awesome to get back on a fullsus! when i first got it, i loved it pedals up hills beautifully descends well, not too heavy, it was 12.5 kg fully built. rode it pretty hard all over England and France, er, on the downhill trails. Perhaps I was a little hard on it. It is sposed to be a mellow XC bike. They just really have to sort out that stupid spring and bottle prob...
  17. would assume so since he has just got the bike... the water bottle thing is SOO true. it is ridiculous. I had a IDX 1 2004. ooh the bottle cage irritated me, never mind that I ME AS in 52 kg, broke the leaf spring that holds the nonsense at the bottom in place 4 times. honestly.
  18. Did you get set up on it properly? That would be the most sensible thing to do. The bars are really a personal choice. U should try both out. I like them flat, although Ive enjoyed risers. Only thing is u cant put bar ends on risers. It just is not done. They should be your shoulder width ideally yes, but wider or narrower gives you different handling. A wider bar allows you to feel more stable on the bike while narrower bars are more responsive and twitchy (plus u can fit btw trees!)
  19. minty I agree. and my friends take LOADS of abuse from me. but as u said they know me and I get as good as I give.
  20. delightful now that one I could stare at for ages.
  21. have you ever lived with them? I have. You are right they do have access to information but why would they look for it? If they are comfortable and their lives are "full and happy" why change that. and that applies across the globe to all people. A lovely example is right here in the Cape. When we had our power failures? People were forced to think about energy and energy saving. Until there is some kind of motivation people won't do anything. ever met a Canadian? talk about patriotism! but its a good kind I guess.
  22. I thought that this morning too!
