    Congrats Sara

Thanks everyone, the race report is in the "racing" forum. Argus mtb challenge reports. Was a good day out on the bike, loved it. and Jellytot? I improved my time of last year by 11 minutes and last year Ellane beat me by 1 this year and put 7 min into her. Thanks, you rock. SARA2007-03-05 23:01:27
  2. Van? it'ts beautiful, like Cape Town, except the mountains have snow, the beach is stony and the water waaaay colder than Clifton. It also has the highest number of rainy days in the world, the highest suicide rate and biggest drug problem. Loads of asians, cheap good sushi, cool people again, north shore trails, skiing in the winter, reasonable cost of living (much more than Whistler), hmm crime? not too bad, at least you don't get killed for your cellphone. In Whistler I didn't have a door key, the land lady asked if I wanted one. Why? just in case I wanted to lock the boys out. Whistler is an hour's drive away. You can go for the weekend easy, or the day...and the drive there is stunning. oh you gotta ride Squamish as well...and climb "the chief"-a climbers heaven.
  3. Well ,well, well. A Whistler thread. Stand up, stretch, flex fingers and let's begin. So yes I've been. Went for a ski season, 5 months of crazy fast downhill, frikkin expensive beer, expensive cost of living generally and more men than I knew what to do with. . tragic. It helped with the expensive beer part. Sorry boys, although if you want a few girls to get you going I still have a few mates there. Then the snow started melting got myself a trail map, a crazy downhill guy/guide/chef (seriously!) and started crossing off the trails. The place rocks there is so much crazy/beautiful/ technical trail and that's before you hit the bike park. So much you ride everyday till you fall over and your legs just kick weakly. Everything from rooty stuff to slick rock to crazy drops, mossy smooth trails, north shore (ahhh do "a river runs through it", "kill me thrill me"--my favourite). People are awesome so friendly, SO helpful and interested, chilled out and they love the SA accent. Oh wait maybe that was a line . If you go be prepared to fall in love, there is so much wide open space, the mtns are breathtaking and the town is so cool, it's a bubble world of unreality. The number of times I just stopped and thought that dying would be OK right now cos I'm living the dream....me, my bike, my trail, the bears. The one decision I will never be sure of in my life is when I got on the bus to Vancouver and my flight out. dumbass. oh well. just go. hmm as I recall there was some beer that was a tad cheaper, does the job but YUCK. I think it came in litre plastic bottles.... oh the bike park? rode it one day. nearly killed myself (something about a 6 inch travel bike and full body armour makes you feel invincible) and decided it was best to stick to the knarly trails for free. Need any help with bikes go to Evolution in the town. Tyler Morland works there but talk to the chick she's very cool. I could go on...anything else? can scratch about for some pics I guess..
  4. Hey DR, glad the family aren't hurt, strength to you and your family. I hope you can recover from such an awful experience speedily. What comes around goes around.
  5. Ah MD! First rule of thumb do not get rid of old stuff before new stuff is in sticky little hand. ah well I hear one legged pedalling is very good for developing a smooth pedal stroke. ever tried it? actually quite scary when you do, you realise how much more power you could be getting out!
  6. wow. perhaps some new fancy enhanced technology. or you reckon they just forgot?

    Dry needling

I had dry needling about 6 months ago. I had a hectic knee inflammation and there were all sorts of knots and nonsense going on im my leg. my physio stuck the longest, nastiest needles into my knee and thigh, I refused to look but the sadist insisted on showing me how long they were afterwards. Also got the current thing, this made me sweat, especially when he walked out the room saying "Just shout if you need me" Here I am left with my enormous fear of needles and well needles stuck in me. but it worked. Did a few sessions and my leg never felt so good and my knee healed quickly.
  8. There is a group that rides from Claremont @ 5:00. I joing them in Wynberg, and we pick up one or two people who live in Bergvliet and Tokai as we go down Main Road. We go via Fish Hoek, Hout Bay and back over the Nek. Usually home by 7:00. Now that's interesting. would require me being up rather early but doable.
  9. yes, BC you and TitusTi. Rare and valued indeed.
  10. Why thank you! And did you get anything? If not, maybe I can help you out later? Would you? I waited at home for 3 hrs this morning. Nothing. I considered standing in the street naked, but decided no one would see me and it wouldn't help. So rode my bike hard for 3 hours. Home again, still nothing. There must be a problem somewhere. Oh wait I know. No boyfriend to be guilted into the V day nonsense. Bugger.
  11. Happy valentines day guys. Too two of my favourite sh*t talkers. You are precious.
  12. well, it lasted for 2 weeks in Morzine.

  14. OOHHH really? wanna come play with the Swiss?
  15. chatted to Jan this morning he seems to think so. I thought leaving at 8 was a bit ambitious if we want to ride in the afternoon. u coming through early tomoro morning?
  16. Staying at Jan's place, hooray a house and everything. Got quite a posse going too, 8, methinks. and thanks Velouria, need all that good stuff for both!
  17. Of Jeannie and Andre?
  18. just spoke to Jan, Saturday night is going to be out of hand, apparently. Andre is afraid. Im due for another big night anyway. Mints u should definitely try swing by.
  19. Flown with my bike loads of times with them. Had it in a sturdy bike box a few times, then I got slack and just wheeled it on. I find smiling sweetly and chatting up the guy who takes your bike works wonders. but international? I always fly with a hard case and there are tears everytime I see it again.
