  1. I'll drive it down for you, if you pay S&T back and forth
  2. So did ISN sign him for his projected future performances, like Grand Tour wins, or for being Chris Froome, the name and the champion that he is and the media and public attention he will bring to the team? I wish his agent was still on The Hub.
  3. Apparently hit by a car https://www.velonews.com/news/vn-news-ticker-tom-pidcock-lucky-after-being-hit-by-car-driver-in-training-marc-soler-back-in-action-at-tour-de-suisse/
  4. I think he lives in Andorra now - so goes out for training rides solo. Much like Willie Wallie documents in his vlog.
  5. I don't think he is faking bad performance, 2 mins down on the ITT yesterday! My heart goes out to him for trying, but it doesn't look like its going to be happening *sniff* Hope I am wrong.
  6. Wasn't the deal breaker was that his agent wanted assurances Chris would go into the races as the team leader / protected rider? Dave quite rightly stepped away from that. I think if his requirements for contract renewal were more modest he could have spent his twilight years there, as a road captain etc. though probably for much less. As much as I would like to see his return to top form and take #5, I would be pleasantly surprised if it happened. Also as much money as Mr Israel Startup has, I doubt he can provide the level of support Chris got at Sky/ Ineos.
  7. Well the Kiwi GB had his chance ... yes he fell short on several occasions but he was there, or thereabouts as is oft said, and showed great sportsmanship. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. It wasn't the only team to falter: TSF, Astana The Latin flavoured guys in Ineos were superb, all the way. One for the books.
  8. I don't think anyone has the team to beat Ineos right now. As Egan said, its the team that is wearing the maglia rosa right now. btw the Inoes riders this race are all romance language speakers (if I am not mistaken) ie no Anglo-saxons. Interesting ...
  9. It seems there is quite a lot of noise to cancel the show - from within Japan. I'm happy to see Alan line up, I think perhaps him and Ash are the only ones will will see feature, perhaps top ten or five, medals maybe, just maybe if Lady Luck is in town.
  10. What fun is that if it doesn't look like a proper chain saw? Nothing to it either way except the dB's I once saw some French nutters juggling REAL chain saws in a circus tent on Clapham Common. I tried that at home, it did not end well. ps (edit) its called a bar. Chain is the 'blade'
  11. Esta es para todos ustedes This one is for all of you Questa è per tutti voi
  12. Sprinters dropping like flies before the mountains.
  13. Have you had a spin up Kallenbach Drive that leads into the Steepways Lane, Linksfield Ridge? https://www.google.com/maps/@-26.1686511,28.0929598,17z
  14. I thought it was lekka kiff
  15. https://twitter.com/Eganbernal/status/1395428386156290053?s=20
  16. That was some proper bike racing in a beautiful part of Italy. Egan rode wisely, and what a team.
  17. Probably a Pro Cyclocross contract is the next best thing, though would have to relocate to Belguim. Brexit probably a spanner in the works in this regard though.
  18. Yes they have been quiet successful in that, converting funding into Olympic medals, and it's been via the track. A lot if not all successful road cyclists have come via that route as well. They actually go around to schools and find talented prospects, and put them into the system. XCO, limited potential medals and seems to be a fringe sport there in the UK, but there is a junior on his way up, Charlie Aldridge, if you can call (or dare to call) a Scot a a Brit. https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/gbcyclingteam/article/20190830-gb-cyclingteam-news-Charlie-Aldridge-crowned-2019-cross-country-world-champion-0 Also compare to Switzerland, where apparently mtb / xco is a main stream school sport, which explains a lot.
  19. Thanks I stand corrected, Slav vs Romance is a non-trivial. Talking Hungary, in the U23 Blanke Kate Vas (young CX & road star recently signed to Spez Works road team) took another 3rd. I've also wondered and pondered as to why almost no UK Mens XCO, at least since I've been a fan, and what I think, as mentioned before, its more of a cultural thing: generally the lads are more into downhill and pedaling is scoffed at. Although there has been notable slopestyle/freestyle Brits ... but XCO demands a very high level of fitness, and sacrifices of time, time that could be spent at The Pub. Pidders doesn't drink, so there we have it.
  20. I think he set the terms of that Ineos contract I am sure it provides for some mtb / XCO action, after all he brought that wrench with him from the Trinity CX team. Probably not any downhill though lol. Also a good move from Team Ineos if they did facilitate this, to allow him to have fun basically. Remains to be seen if he will do any CX though, perhaps dip in and out like Wout did. Olympics: The Brits men would get a spot if that Hungarian guy finished higher than 20 something, which did happen. Not sure is Tom is auto selected but maybe he still has to be chosen by the British sports selection team however it would be a travesty if he was not there.
  21. Probably, although his Wiki lists only starts his extensive and impressive list of results in 2015, and mtb from 2019. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Pidcock But I am sure he was knocking around on an mtb around Leeds right from the get-go. One word - incredible!
  22. Which is why Tom probably went into CX first, that is more established there than XCO
  23. I think the reference was to Mens XC - been few and far between from the UK at the elite level for the past while. The lads tend to go for Downhill, they don't like pedaling and more time for the pub.
  24. Although the Brits are celebrating, and rightly so, Tom is not your typical Brit. He doesn't drink.
