  1. When he goes, no one catches him. For now at least. He only got beaten once in cross in the last few years, that was by Toon and he was having a serious off day after training block. The only guy he has struggled to beat was Nino Shurt, but he has that sorted now and I predict he will take Gold at the 2020 mtb,. The fact that he can switch disciplines (and win) makes him exceptional. But I think he still has his feet on the ground, works exceptionally hard, and knows how to enjoy life,.
  2. This whole season he has been racing with the Elites, generally top 10, top 5 and a few podiums, a really amazing achievement. Compare to all the Americans who come across to race in Europe, Top 20 if they are lucky. I have really been enjoying the Trinity Racin channel on the tube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCliNmKIxM3T2c4pU8ffv1Vg He won the junior PR as well, bronze at the U23 road worlds last year, I think we can expect to see a lot of him in the future. Tough and talented.
  3. He is doing PR ... as is Wout.
  4. I actually fancy his teammate more that him.
  5. BIG UP Tom!
  6. I see the Pilots Assoc. are getting vocal about getting some managers who can manage in, and at least one pilot on the board. Doubt any Comrades are listening though. They should make their point stronger.
  7. Facts are still being gathered and whilst it seems that it could have been pilot error something else could have happened.. ie There was a fairly rapid ascent then a sharp descent just before impact .. what happened there? surely such an experienced and IMC rated pilot finding himself in clouds would have ascended and then asked for emergency IMC clearance / help whatever, but looks like something happened that cause that last rapid descent. Look at the speed - altitude plot here https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n72ex#23a8271e
  8. Apparently the auto pilot disengages at below something like 60 Knots
  9. Give it 'stick' Have you seen Pilot Yellow's channel? https://www.youtube.com/user/mischagelb Perhaps you can twist The Boss's arm to relocate to BC..
  10. The Blanco take was/is that hovering with no vis is all but impossible .... But having said that if the weather is closing in on you in a heli its sure is going to be a lot easier to do a precautionary landing than in a fixed wing, Prior to that it seems there was a lot of ATC interaction
  11. Are those the same mountains that took Hansie?
  12. update: I see this has caused quite a reaction on the tweeter, with the likes of Katy Chompton and Geoff Kabuska frothing at the mouth,...and using language they normally don't. And then there is righteous and random lynch mob letting forth as well. As a fan, I will be happy to see her back racing, I want to believe it was some mistake or accident. Apparently held a press conference today to tell all, trying to find it.
  13. news just in is that Denise 'the beast' Betsema is to race again this weekend, she was given a 6 months suspension .. https://www.cxmagazine.com/denise-betsema-race-2020-zonnebeke-6-month-steroid-suspension-uci
  14. The Blanco did a segment on it.... When they declared the emergency, ATC asked if they would dump fuel, they said no (which should have been over the ocean at a recommended altitude) they just decided to do it anyway on downwind at 2000 ft AGL and finals to reduce landing weight ... what a F up.
  15. Emphatic denial is often a sign of guilt, but I think here it just took a while for the facts to filter up, Iran is not exactly an open society.
  16. So Iran has fessed up to shooting it down ... what a tragedy.
  17. Pilots are trained to Aviate - Navigate - Communicate when things start going south, so making a mayday call is last on the of priorities, Whatever happened, they had their hands full and what you say could be true, their comms equipment got taken out as well.
  18. Iran is quite within its rights not to hand them over, but they have invite Ukraine, Canada and even the NTSB from the USA apparently. They will not be able to hide or conceal any info. ADS-B stopped abruptly minutes before impact - not a good sign!
  19. "Canadian universities are mourning more than a dozen faculty and students who died when Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 flight crashed in Iran on 8 January." https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00048-x
  20. Horizontal stab or wing?
  21. Look at this engine cowling, something came flying out of it at high speed, before or during the impact?
  22. Wing & fueslage Looks like the port wing, engine mounting
  23. scorched fueslage skin
  24. tail seemed to escape the fire note the pitot tubes
  25. Looks like part of the wing structure that intersects the fuselage. on the LHS which is also scorched
