  1. BTW - did you happen to get any pics of me? I don't have many (I know, I'm too ugly hey) but if you did manage to get one of me talking rubbish as normal it would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Thanks for those pics. I was really sad to have to leave the Tour early - would have loved to stay until the end. I personally feel that it is a great event with a huge future and wish 180 well with the next one. Hopefully I will be there for the whole tour next time.
  3. Ok Slowpoke - I take a vitamin supplement, not for general health but to make sure that I don't get sick and to ensure all my vitamin and mineral levels are at an optimum, is this acceptable. My thoughs are that, seeing a person puts in so much time and effort into their training, can they afford to take the chance that their vitamin or mineral levels might be low.
  4. I just feel like stirring the pot a bit and also getting everybody to think a bit? When is a drug a drug? There are many (and I mean MANY) pills/medicines/supplements that anybody can buy that are not illegal according to the laws of the country, but according to drug free sport etc are illegal for use in sport because they could be performance enhancing / a masking agent / or bad for a sports person?s health. Define performance enhancing ? If one eats plenty of pasta compared to one?s, say normal, meals of steak and one gets better because of it, is this performance enhancing? Can the vitamins one takes be considered performance enhancing? My mutli-vit pack certainly helps me? Then one says, no it?s ok because it?s not bad for ones health. But taking too many vitamins can be bad for ones health, damage the kidneys etc. In my opinion it?s a very thin line between drugs (good) and DRUGS (BAD). People in SA going to jail for selling ?sports? drugs??? I don?t see it happening (obviously if it?s a schedule 2697363 or whatever drug needing a special licence which he/she doesn?t have then there could be a problem,, but I don?t think any of the discussions on this forum covered this sort of thing). So let me quickly take my EPO, use disprin to thin the blood, 10 regmakers to give me the caffine, some stroids to give me the muscle, stop for a leak to get rid of the coffee, go slowly up the hill cause my muscle is now too heavy???? Not saying anyone is right, or anyone is wrong, you define your line of what is right and wrong. AAAAARRRGHHHHH, just choked on my vitamins, must be bad for my health.
  5. ? Would that be the DVD of the development of the Rush? If yes I've seen it and it is a briliant bit of film. played no part in my acquisition of a Rush though since I already had mine for about a monthbefore I? saw that. Don't know the exact details, a friend of mine from Jhb told me about it and ha said he will send it to me when he can. Or else I will have to visit Cape Cycle Systems soon
  6. Go Go Go GoLefty!! Cannondale rules. I am just wating for my Cannondale DVD to get to me. I believe once you have seen Cannondale's testing and develoment procedures you will never think of riding another make of bike. Not that I would anyway.
  7. Not a new idea, there are already some in existance, and I am already looking at one in the Western Cape like that. Hopefully for sometime 2007. Should be great fun.
  8. As I mentioned - the exact format is being worked on - so we don't know at this stage. Depends on costings, number of entries expected, etc etc
  9. Hi guys, there will be a tour!! But the exact format etc is being worked on. We have have been brought in to assist in the orgainsation, but only since the end of last week so we are trying to get it all together as quickly as possible. We will keep you informed.
  10. Ride like sh&t from the gun and blow, go to the camp site and get drunk A little more seriously though, common sense, you got it, use it. The trick in these things is to ride as much as possible without worrying too much about speed. Get in a good few hours to start with remebering to drink and eat. Have a reasonable stop arounf supper time and then enjoy the evening and night riding. I would suggest ride until 10 or 11 in the evenin and hen get some sleep. Then stat again fairly earl in the mroning. Basically enjoy it, remember to eat and drink and have fun. That's my 2c worth
  11. Remember if you finish on the podium you have to stay for the prize-giving, but then we have pushed the prize-giving forward. It is now 15 to 30 minutes after the Masters finish - so nobody should have to stay too long. I was also planning to ride after Worcester, but I have to stay to be available for admin queries, problems etc. But I will get some training in somehow.
  12. Gavin Schmavin - the short one who can ride fast Won't be riding, but will pay a visit. Got some strange league thingy to work at in Worcester on Saturday

    Commute

Now that I have started training again, I am riding home (and obviously back the next mrning) 2 evenings per week. At the moment I only have a Mtb (road bike out on loan to a needy cyclist), but almost prefer to commute on the Mtb. If I hear something big coming up behind on a busy road, I can just hop off the road onto the gravel or pavement, hopefully out of harms way. I work in Maitland and live in Marina da Gama and really enjoy the longer route over Constantia Nek and Suikerbossie. Gives me 50km. Once a bit fitter I will start going over Chappies which will add another 20km. The fat Falcon is going to flying again soon

    Databasis

I think something like this is a very good idea and maybe either the Hub or Falcon Sports or both of us shold look at it. Admin???? One problem though, I know that Cannondale's serial numbers are stamped onto the bottom of the BB, BUT this is then painted over and the only way of checking this number is to scrape the paint off (and I'm not doing that to my babies). But maybe detailed descriptions and pictures cold be stored. Who else thinks this is a good idea.
  15. Eish, so much reading, but thanks fatcyclist, I like it.
  16. Holy Smoke it was cold this morning? Go dressed, stepped outside and reversed. No way was I riding in below zero temp. Went for a run instead - much warmer. So who braved it this morning? There was ice all over the Falcons van - it doesn't like that .
  17. He he, if a sponsor comes through I've got something in store for a Mtb and Road race next year. But not saying anything more yet. smileys/smiley2.gif And don't push me for it, still a LOT of work and planning to be done smileys/smiley17.gif
  18. I am planning to be there - should be a good hard one and good training (believe me, I need it). Sorry thinman, going to do the stupid solo thing. I need to keep the pressure off me at the moment, even though you also want to have fun. Why don't you also do the solo thing? I certainly won't be riding all the time - I ride as I feel. Or maybe, do 1 lap, rest for 7 hours with beer in hand and then do the last lapsmileys/smiley36.gif. See you all there.
