  1. RIP to both riders...

  3. Yeah, saw it... Still, need to watch the Bike Radar video on it.
  4. I take my hat off to those commuting to Stellies in the mornings. My friend and I went for a Stellies Coffee loop this morning and left 06:20 from Bellville on our way to Polka Drive. The traffic was insane in-and-around Stellenbosch. So morning rides to Stellies in the week is definitely out for us. EDIT: Still lucky to be on a bike rather than in a car.
  5. Saw you this morning at Wellington Rd (Boland Way & Lubbe St) robots. Gave a wave in the bakkie, but saw you were in cycling mode.
  6. A regular viewer of his channel. Good content with beautiful video quality.
  7. What gear ratios do you run 'Dale?
  8. Sien jou op die pad.
  9. +1 Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they wear better than an Ikon on the rear? If you ride road a lot too.
  12. Hay, I got Ultegra pedals with the bike, but do not have road shoes (for now). When I got money in the bank again, I will invest in a pair. Thanks.
  13. Guess I am officially a roadie now.
  14. Wow, what a ride Velouria! I take my hat off for you.
  15. My unit is in for 7 working days (1 week) now. So 5 weeks remaining...
  16. Luckily my winter training is not an issue. I have an awesome group that I will be joining for the winter month to keep my fitness top notch. Exactly, I really love my cycling, but sometimes the running is easier to squeeze in. But I am grateful for living in a relatively safe neighbourhood so sometimes I do night rides in my area. Also, the other plus point of running is a few of my friends don't cycle and runs. So now I can join them from time-to-time for a session to catch up. I would really like to do the Xterra next year. I would just need to work on my swimming because I cannot swim to save my life...
  17. During my finals exams, I stayed in my cleats while writing. Every teacher looked at me strangely when walking through the tables. I did not mind, my MTB shoes are comfy and don't want to carry my school shoes with.
  18. Thanks Andrew, you hit the nail on the head with your reply. I started to follow a training plan on FitTrack. A 10-week running plan (beginner) and give it a go. I want to do running as a cross-training with my cycling. So nothing competitively or such. Might want to do a park run or two once a month. And hopefully, on my easy jogging days, my dad can join me for the session. Would be a good thing so that my dad can get his exercise in.
  19. Thanks for the reply Ed-Zulu. You got a good point. Strangely I don't struggle to run far (well, 6km - moderately far for me) and my pace is not that slow too. So in terms of running, I can complete each run without blowing out to stop and catch my breath. It is just my calves that are killing me afterwards. But I will start a little bit easier this week. Will do 2km each day, rather than my normal +4km runs. EDIT: I stretch after each run too.
  20. Started running recently (not that it new to me, I was a long distance runner in school, although not competitively but for the fitness and fun). I did 22.3km last week in total, but one thing I notice that I am struggling with calve pain in both legs. Only after the runs, I can feel it. Not sure if it is my shoes that are the problem or just that I am not used to running again. I will say I am relevantly fit but mainly focus on cycling. But thought I might try running for a few weeks. I quite enjoy it and would like to mix it with my cycling. But yeah, the pain is not nice. Feeling better today (took off today) and sprayed some Deep Heat on my calves. Will see how I feel tomorrow.
  21. Nope, if you add that you have some pretty decent climbing and downhills to enjoy.
