  1. Also rode SASSC on a 32x17 (29r) but felt a 32x18 would have been more appropriate.
  2. I've done the 12hr for the last two years. Excellent course and venue but the thunderstorms at around 19:30 play havoc.
  3. Was looking at the Leaf as opposed to the Whisper.
  4. I've been looking at that as well. But I think I'll wait for the new IXS Trail RS
  5. IIRC, Marnitz changed bikes. Was initially on a tandem with his boet who got injured and withdrew.
  6. You have to justify it somehow Missed you at Red Barn this morning, It was almost like a Mankele reunion.
  7. Damn good price, even if you convert it coil, it shouldn't cost more than another 1.5k extra.
  8. Hairy, On-One had their fat bike as a rolling chassis on special offer a while back. If I'm not mistaken, excl UK vat it was around GBP420. I've taken Crusher's Surly Moonlander for a quick ride and I must say I'm pretty impressed. I'm thinking of getting some wide rims (Rabbit Hole 50mm) for my Karate Monkey and running a 29*3" tyre upfront with a normal 2.4-2.5" in the rear.
  9. You guys don't mince words, do you.
  10. Swazi Frontier Imana Wild Ride should be added.
  11. I bought a sleeve (is that the right word?) of pods for our trip down to Mankele as my mate took his Pixie with. We never got to use any of my pods so I now sit these pods at home. Do I now go and buy a R2k machine just to use R58's worth of coffee?
  12. Great post, heal up soon.
  13. Running 48*18 Still need to buy a half link chain and do away with the tensioner.
  14. What an awesome event. Highly recommended for those that enjoy trail riding. 3 stages with 2 runs on each stage with the best time for each stage added together to give your overall time. Yesterday morning's stage was in my opinion the best, with Saturday's 2nd stage, the toughest. Well done to Mark Meyer, Jaco Lubbe and Jason Geldenhuys for finishing 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Only 13 seconds separated the first 2 positions.

    New AM bike advice

Why not look at Pyga? They are going to be bringing out a 140mm travel 650b (if it's not already out).
  16. I'd hate to go and buy a dedicated mapping GPS for the race. I wonder if a GPS mapping program on an Android phone (or iPhone for that matter) would be able to receive a .tcx / .gpx file and interpret the markers.
  17. I read that earlier on bookface. So it would appear taking the above at face value that either a certain model or a couple thereof from the Budnitz range are rip-offs of Black Sheep Bikes. How many models does Budnitz produce?
  18. I've learnt from Adventure Racing, never assume the person you are following knows where they are going.
  19. Ordered a Superstar singlespeed hub earlier for a new wheelset.
  20. I see 2 of my 3 bikes are not listed: Surly - Karate Monkey (SS) Titus - El Guapo (AM) the listed one is: OnOne - Scandal (XC)
  21. Just ordered some Hubs off Superstar Components.
  22. Thanks for the great updates.
  23. I need to find the youtube vid of one of the trails called the Triple D.
