  1. At the start of a race? Surely there must have been plenty of witnesses.
  2. Reminds me of the time when Rubens had to move over whilst leading and Shumi was booed by the fans for the next few races
  3. Awesome.
  4. My vote goes original.
  5. Check to see if you have been allocated for a review (audit). Although they say two weeks, the notice of assessment is normally immediate. If there is no review, you must contact SARS to find out what is happening. It should take this long
  6. I have many similar stories. What happens there is scary. The good news is that if your objection is allowed, it should take less than a week to pay out. They'll tell you 21 days, but generally it is around a week.
  7. I'd hate to tell you this, but SARS suspends that 60 day turnaround time from 15 Dec to 15 Jan each year. So, it could take upwards of 3 months this time of the year. Also, that is 60 working days. That means, that if they don't attend to the objection for 15 Dec, there is a good chance you going to wait till next year. It also depends on what you are objecting to. Non-Technical stuff, below a certain value is reviewed by a single person and therefore they might just do it over the festive season. Technical stuff is referred to a committee. These committees don't sit over the festive season.
  8. That's a typical day for me. You want to laugh. SARS audit makes an incorrect assessment on a client and refunds client R1m. Client sends a letter informing them of mistake and pays SARS R1m back. SARS responds by saying a letter is not an acceptable means of communication and that client must lodge objection. SARS forwards R1m back to client. Client then objects, and transfers the R1m back to SARS. SARS disallows objection because client took longer than 30 days to lodge objection. R1m has gone back to client. The client wants to give SARS R1m and SARS won't take it. Client has now given up and has kept the money
  9. It's the law
  10. They do. Regulations 186 & 187 of the National traffic act requires certain reflectors on bikes.
  11. Saw one today. Riser bars were facing downwards. If they cannot get the handlebars right, what about the rest of the build.
  12. Awesome pic. One of the best feelings in life when a child, especially your own, sleeps on you
  13. Nope, I started this thread because I thought it was strange that Makro would sell Cannondale. I had no idea what specs the bikes had so had no idea whether they were cheap or not.
  14. My brother had a Yamaha dealership back then. And you guys took away the rights when you found he was selling Grey products. I still laughed at him and told him it was his own fault
  15. As a Grey import, none of the parts will have any sort of warranty from the local agents. That means Makro will carry the full burden of the warranty. Makro has no cycle mechanics, that means if a small part breaks, they can't send it to an agent for repairs, they'll replace the whole bike.
  16. The tick box for Capital Gain is under "foreign income" if you mark it yes, the CGT container should be opening.
  17. Maybe a scam. Nothing on the Makro website about Cannondale
  18. Just received an sms from Makro advertising Cannondale bikes. That means we can no longer use the term "makro" specials anymore. I just hope their staff don't assemble the Cannondales the way they assemble the Raleighs and Totems. Biking enthusiasts - Coming soon, Cannondale Trail 7 mountain bike @R3999 & Trail 5 @R4499 only @Makro. never to be repeated, don't miss out. Stop to opt out
  19. I am in the tax game. I have been told on countless occasions that someone will return my call in 2 days. I have never had SARS return a call. If they do phone you at all, you will be very lucky. I have also never had a resolution for any escalation and have never had a response to any of the complaints that were lodged. I have lodged complaints on complaints, without success.
  20. Finally, someone who is pedantic as I when it comes to bike looks. Seriously though, I'm pretty sure revised wheels are on the way.
  21. Your escalation means nothing. That escalation goes to a team leader that won't even read the mail because he/she has 1000s of others.
  22. Real product. My neighbour has been trying to secure an SA agency for them, but with no success.
  23. You do realize that before their so called "modernisation" the SARS client charter stated that a taxpayer must be helped within 15mins and that for most part, they met their target. I yearn for those old days. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to work with them
  24. This is something we are seeing more and more. I have a client with a R500k refund that must be manually approved by SARS because their bank account is suddenly invalid. They won't approve it until this verification is done. But, the same client has been receiving VAT refunds into the same account. They got one on Wednesday. How on earth does SARS do things
  25. I get audited every year. They normally raise an assessment, simply because the auditors don't always understand the tax law. I normally have to object. This process normally takes 6 months or so. This year, they accepted the supporting docs and my refund was paid in two weeks. A record for me.
