  1. Not much more detail.... https://m.wheels24.co.za/Motorsport/watch-iconic-kyalami-9-hours-race-returns-to-world-motorsport-calendar-in-2019-20180728
  2. Now we are talking.
  3. I've always said that Brabham is one of those mythical racing teams that needs to be resurrected with a supercar
  4. Why is a bike from Germany exempt from duties?
  5. Have them replaced under warranty and don't, under any circumstance cover the cost of a rebuild or nipples or whatever they want to rip you with. Their warranty conditions mean nothing as they are less than six months old and therefore the CPA kicks in. They must cover all costs.
  6. When I read this thread, I got all excited. I thought Johan Bornman was back. Then I realised that it an 8 year old thread
  7. Invader was a Checkers in house brand. The same bike was sold under a few different names, none of which I remember. It is pretty entry level, but if it was my bike, I would try to restore it, just for the heck of it.
  8. Something slightly off topic. If you see someone not being truthful of his product. Is it alright to call him out? Buyers do have a right to know, but you also don't want to trash someones ad when he might just be innocently ignorant. I try not to comment as I generally give the benefit of the doubt. But when somebody advertises a road bike as a 2015 model and it has a quill headset (which was discontinued in the late 90s), I have to chip in.

    Who remembers?

    Didn't he die recently
  10. It is plain wrong to have a German car in this colour. Only Lotus, Aston Martin and Bentley can get away with it.
  11. I'm thinking back to the days where you could find a random piece of Bush and play around on the footpaths. Nowdays all these bush areas have been turned into shopping centres or townhouse complexes.
  12. I think it's a travesty that people have to pay to ride their bikes.
  13. Contrary to popular belief, it's the legs that count, not the bike. I'm sure you'll keep up.
  14. Second hand is likely to get you more value for money, however, for the inexperienced, it could end up costing you a fortune if you buy an unsuitable or worn out bike (if you don't know what you are buying) I suggest getting a new bike from a reputable bike shop. It will have a warranty, the bike will be properly set up and the shop will give proper advice.
  15. If it shipped directly from Canyon to you, you will get it VAT free in their country and will only pay SA import VAT. Ship it to your parents first and you will lose the VAT free status in that country and end up paying VAT in both countries. In order to enjoy VAT free status in that country, the supplier must be in control of the export and must ship directly to you.
  16. They ran out of marketing tools. They've been riding on the weight thing for years, then it was stiffness, then aero. What else could they do. So disc brakes it is.
  17. Every time you remove the bottle or put it back it is going to hit your frame. With time you are going to have a badly scuffed down tube.
  18. That is just scratching the surface of the stuff that goes on at SARS. I could write a book about the crap these people get up to.
  19. You have to go in to a branch for this and it should have been approved there and then. I suggest you phone SARS. There may be a manual release required and unless you request this, they will never pay your refund
  20. Its called the free market system. It's not unique to the cycle industry. Think of the corner grocer when supermarkets started to appear. One guy had the foresight to set up a big mega store, you can't blame him because the smaller shops never had the same idea. It is up to those small shops to offer customers something different to the mega stores. It's a business thing, something better than the mega stores, something to bring the clients back.
  21. 5 and a half years on, I still have mine. I have looked after it really well and the frame still looks brand new. I cannot bring myself to replace it. I would like to keep it for a while to come. Would love to upgrade it to Super Record. But, 105 will have to do for now.
  22. Your total assessment for the year would have brought these into account, unless SARS was unhappy with your supporting documents and disallowed these credits. Your total debt or refund would have brought these credits into account.
  23. I was looking for a hanger for a Fuji and the dealer in PE told me that the brand was no longer available. The importers had stopped bringing them in. If Cycle lab still has them, then maybe there is a new importer or maybe old unsold stock. Perhaps confirm with them
