Not many people know that she raced a BMW touring car in SA in the 90s. I saw her in PE in the pits. If I remember, she crashed and broke her leg at one of the races.

Spending a weekend in Bloem. There are two things I noticed. 1.the number of white Hilux bakkies on the road. 2. The number of cyclists training on the N1. Are these guys crazy? Not only is it illegal, but bloody dangerous. By the way, Bloem is a lovely place. Wish we could have spent more time here.

I'm a cyclist, but also a motorist. If I see cyclists riding 2+ abrest on the road, I will also be mad. Its illegal, it holds up other road users and shows the entitlement of those cyclists that they own the road. Even dirt roads are public roads and the rules apply there too. I am not sure of the circumstances that lead to the comments in the OPs link, but I wonder how angry the guy would have been if the support vehicle had moved over and the cyclists moved into single file. (maybe they did and he is just being an idiot)

If there is one thing that I have taken away from this whole thing. If you have R60k to spend on a bike, go and get something new. You will get a pretty decent bike at that price new and there will be a warranty to cover all this crap.

Keep an eye on the classified. These come up from time to time. Is the bike not insured?

Corona knocked me for a 6. I was extremely ill and weak. About 2 weeks after recovery I started to develop chest pains. Was tested for blood clots and came back negative. Was fatigued for about 2 months after and struggled to do anything that remotely resembled exercise. I'm fine now except for problems with my eyes. Blurry when tired and often itchy. I've been researching this and recent studies are showing that Covid can affect your eyes (not the blurriness, only the itching)

It depends on what you want to do with it. For trips around the neighbourhood, it will do the job well. It will handle the odd off-road excursion, but if you want to do regular off road rides, look at something else. Someone already asked a question on this bike on Bikehub and those that had bought the bike didn't have much good to say.

It would depend on the age of the bike, but a full carbon with Ultegra sounds like a pretty good deal at R8k.

Aston Martin will not put their name behind a losing team. They did that with DTM and quickly withdrew when their cars were uncompetitive. I think AM is a brilliant move for Vettel and I think this is just the start for good things for the team. It's just sad that Perez will have to be sacrificed (although there is talk of a move to Haas). Stroll won't let his son go and Lance seems to have the edge of late over Perez.

Advice from a non-pro. Get a bike (in the right size), get a helmet and ride. You will figure out your preferences as you go along.

Never heard of Apex. Is this brand available in SA or are you planing to import yourself or is it a Game/Makro/Hypermarket brand? Personally, I would go with a more mainstream brand like Titan, Momesen, Axis etc.

A SA brand I forgot about. Volcan. At one point they were claiming to be Swiss and still have a cross as part of their logo.

I thought the same thing. After 20 odd years of cycling l, I have never replaced either.

There are some bikes that have their roots in SA. Silverback, Swift, Trek(the founder is South African), Pearl and one or two others.
