  1. What damage are we talking about? Is it a cracked frame or just some scratches.
  2. Don't cycle in the dunes or beach trails. Cycling in sand is the worst. You will hate it.
  3. True, but now you have to pay postage for 2 items.
  4. My first new bike as an adult was an Avalanche. Good value for money and it got me into the sport. Avalanche has a good spectrum in the value end of the market. All it needs now is a value full suspension.
  5. Inviting Bike Hub to debate another person's selling price is a pretty low blow.
  6. If you are not a serious mountain biker, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference between 100 and 120mm (I know I wouldn't) I say save the R5k and get last year's model.
  7. I've seen some pretty cool things on the road. Two that stick out: A pig giving birth (at first I thought a car had hit her). A horse, a donkey and a camel running down the road together. 3 very unlikely friends
  8. Bianchi certainly knows how to make good looking bikes. Just too scare to even think about the pricing
  9. Something simple which can be easily missed. Is that lever that open and closes the brakes for wheel removal in the closed postion?
  10. You are over analysing this. Just get on your bike and ride. You don't need an eBike to keep up. Give it a month or two and you will be where you were 8 years ago.
  11. Better late than never I suppose
  12. I'm going to join in and say don't do it.
  13. It costs nothing to lay a charge and have him prosecuted (assuming there is enough evidence for the state to use) Laying a civil claim against against him will cost though. The people who were scammed must lay charges.
  14. You really don't need anything expensive. MTB tyre pressures are so low, so a cheap pump from Makro will do the trick. Pumps with a big volume are a must. I bought mine at Makro 20 years ago. It was a nice fat pump (therefore the volume). I lost it once and then a few months later found it on the side of the road. It had obviously been ridden over by a few cars. But it still works and I still use it.
  15. Firstly, you need to determine what size bike you ride. Your options run from a small to a large. Once you have that, then you can start narrowing options. For R15k, you will find a pretty decent, full carbon bike.
  16. R2500 to R3000
  17. My neighbour sold his car and rides his bike everywhere and doesn't wear a helmet. He has a child seat on his bike and rides his granddaughter all over the place. She doesn't wear a helmet and it really bugs me. She doesn't have a chance if he falls. I gave him a helmet for her and lectured him about the importance of wearing one. I really hope she wears it.
  18. Completely off topic, but it is so good to see someone else bringing a new sedan to the market. I just wish there was a bigger range and a cheaper model on offer.
  19. I've seen them advertised on the Hub for about R1000, but personally, I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred Rand. Not sure if someone actually paid R1k for them. They are pretty old, maybe 15 to 20 years. You cannot get spokes for them. But they seem to be pretty tough.
  20. I suppose this would depend on the insurer. There is a note in my policy that states that they have the right to repair where they feel fit and they have no obligation against future values or warrantees.
  21. If you are going to drop R180k on a bike, then you should get something that you really want. If Colnago is the bike you wanted, then hang on for your order to arrive. It will be worth the wait. Don't buy a bike now just for the sake of it.
  22. I am still a rim brake advocate, but I have come to realise that you cannot argue with progression. So, as much as it pains me to say this, I would go disc.
  23. I am in PE. There are one or two guys doing carbon work around here.
  24. I am seriously pedantic and don't like a scratched frame. I am considering a respray too. Just a few too many nicks and scratches. But I only paid R1k with a shock. So I think it was a bargain.
  25. Thanks guys, I found a video on YouTube where a guy used some kind of metal putty. I am not convinced this will work. Pratley metal putty is too brittle for this. I may give the epoxy a try. I also know of a guy that lives in my suburb that does carbon repairs (mostly automotive), I could ask him as well.
