  1. There was a guy from EL selling fake Cannondales. He was kicked off the Hub. You might find him on Gumtree
  2. My area of expertise..............
  3. Hey..............I work for SARS and i am a nice guy
  4. They have a TV show named after them (or are they named after the TV show), they can do as they please.
  5. Taken from Pinarello (the original) website Genuine Pinarello Dealers – Put a face to the name 4 Rules to detect a False Pinarello The success of a brand inevitably leads to the birth of counterfeiters, a common phenomenon in the fashion world, however, in the bicycle sector, a dangerous decision for the purchaser/rider. 1. Counterfeiters usually hide behind E-COMMERCE PLATFORMS AND ONLINE AUCTIONS sites. 2. The counterfeiters often pretend to be contractors OR official manufacturers/factories for Pinarello, the OEM Factory. Recall that CICLI PINARELLO SPA head office and production facility that DO NOT SELL FRAMES ONLINE 3. The counterfeiters do not offer an OFFICIAL PINARELLO WARRANTY, a one and only document recognized by Pinarello. Cicli Pinarello grants a 2-year warranty. You can extend the warranty to 3 years registering the serial number in our website within 10 days of purchase. This procedure will grant you at the same time that the frame is original. 4. If you decide to buy a used Pinarello via the INTERNET, and it is not possible to visit the seller, it is crucial you request the PINARELLO SERIAL NUMBER which is located under the bottom bracket. In addition request for a photo of this serial number and a copy of the Official Pinarello Warranty Documents. A quick cross-check via one of our Pinarello Points can immediately verify if the Frame is Original or False. We have analyzed several FALSE frames which have been confiscated via International Customs Authorities. These frames have been passed through the most elementary of resistance testing. The results showed worrying structural failures that can cause serious damage and / or death to the rider.
  6. Don't even consider a 24inch at 12 years old (unless she is short for her age). Look at an Xtra Small 26inch. I bought a second hand Giant for my daughter. I got it from a Doctor who was planning to cycle from her flat to the hospital, but she never rode it. I paid R1 200 for what is effectively a brand new bike. There are lots of bargains out there, but such small frames are difficult to come by.
  7. Shelly..........this is a thread to boast what bikes you have. There is a classified section where you are more likely to find a buyers
  8. I would have qoted this but couldn't remember their names
  9. Considering the op paid R91 000 for this bike, we can assume that Cycle Science sold this bike at real Dogma prices and made one hell of a profit. These fake frames retail for R4-R5k.
  10. Actually, Anke Erlank, Malcome Lange, Jaques Fullard, Kevin Evans, Cherise Stander, Marissa Van der Merwe are some of the few people who won SA Championships on Raleighs.
  11. Report them to SARS...........they like to make big media things of fake DVDs, cigarettes etc being destroyed.

    Probike

Not a rumour. Probike was sold a few years ago to Scott. It is now known as Scott Sports Africa. Brandon Els has left as well as a few of the other senior people.
  13. The cassette is the last thing that should affect your descision. The only difference between the best and the worst cassette is the weight and how long they last. Generally the cheaper cassettes last longer because they are made to last and not too be light. Cassettes are wear and tear items anyway and will have to be replaced at some point. At this point you should forget about all the technical stuff, it will drive you crazy. Just get yourself a bike and ride it. The most important thing is to make sure the size is right for you. Any reputable bike shop will do this as part of the purchase experience. Value for money bikes to look out for are Silverback, Giant, Merida, Trek, Momsen, Axis, GT
  14. I agree with the original poster on this one. I have had brilliant service from Omnico in the past, but if his statements are true, he has a right to be annoyed. Firstly, they supplied him with a frame with paint chips. That is crap. Was it a second hand one? Secondly, because they were unable to supply him with the same frame as what he originally bought, he had to cough up R2 000 to make his parts fit. That us absolute bull, if they cannot warranty their own product properly, the least they can do is cover the costs. Thirdly, they replaced his frame with a white one (he originally bought a black one). I too would be pretty pissed off if I had bought a black bike (I like black bikes) and was given a white one in its place (I hate white ones). Most people would not agree with me, but proper service would be to order him the matt black frame and while waiting for it to arrive, let him borrow the white one. What I find strange, is that he was told that they could order him the proper frame, but he would have to wait a few months for it to arrive................if CRC, Bike 24 etc can get you your product from Europe in 5 days, why can't GT get him his product too in 5 days.
  15. Wow ive never sees these, how do they stack up in performance. They do look really sweet though. They come in plenty of different colour options. Microshift have been around for years. They are cheaper than 105 and lighter than Dura Ace. The Axxes Pro team rode with them a few seasons ago in SA and Coffidis rode with them a fews seasons back. Revolution Cycles in Cape Town were the import agents, not sure if they still are.
  16. Chuck the Shimano and get some Microshift stuff. It comes in some wicked colour options. There is one with black carbon and green. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/OTc1WDE1MDA=/z/Q7AAAMXQTghRPtMI/$T2eC16d,!zEE9s3!Y8u0BRPtMH0mR!~~60_57.JPG
  17. Sportsmans Wharehouse is selling them. They had one on the floor in PE. The wheels absolutely dwarf the 29ers. Oops...........I only saw now that 2 other people have stated this.
  18. Cancel the order if you can. Have you read all the Scott complaints on the Hub? Another one popped up today with even more people experiencing broken chain stays and even more complaints about the warranty turn around time.
  19. I have always sworn by tyre liners. Nobody seems to agree with me though. Some time ago a friend borrowed my bike for a race (he's never riden mtb) and for some reason he thought it was a good idea to replace my tubes and liners with those pre slime filled tubes. He thought he was doing me a favour. I got my first puncture on my first ride after getting the bike back. I didn't have a spare with me and thought I pump the tyre just to get home. The slime had managed to clog up the valve and I couldn't un-screw or even pump air into the tube. I ended up snapping the valve trying to get it open. I was so p*ssed off with him that day.
  20. Look at the Bell Ukon. It's about R500 and you get a crash replacement policy of 70%. That means 70% off the price of the helmet you have purchased towards another one if you damage it in a crash.
  21. I had a similar problem on a shimano wheel. I noticed that it only clicked when I stood and pedalled. My logic told me that each time I stood, the extra weight on the front wheel caused the spokes to "bend outwards" and the magnet on the speedo would touch the pick up. I adjusted the distance on the magnet by 2 or so mm and the sound disappeared. You could have a similar problem.
  22. I read on Bike Radar that MTN did not get the wildcard entry into the Giro that they were hoping to get. Instead the organisers choice to promote Italian teams by giving them the wildcard entries instead. Pretty disappointing I would say.
  23. Team Discovery disappeared years ago. It might be old stock on special.
