  1. Not sure about that model, but my LG road shoes lasted me 7 years. Pretty good if you ask me.
  2. You trust an insurer that you have to contact via Facebook?
  3. Contact Dragons, they are the SA importers/agents for Suntour. They should be able to point you in the right direction http://dragons.co.za/
  4. Make sure the insurers know the crack is due to the fall. They won't pay out on wear and tear.
  5. I visited 4 of the shops on your list whilst on a visit to Pretoria. Had no interest in buying anything, just wanted to look around. Not one person at anyone of those shops came over to me to ask if I needed help. In fact it wasn't even acknowledged that I exist. What if I was on the hunt for a new bike.
  6. Edgars, most sport shops etc.
  7. You are tall enough for a 29er. It is up to your personal preference. I have read that it is budget that should determine which of the two. By nature, 29ers are heavier. If you are buying an entry level bike, it is better to go 27.5 as this will be a lot lighter (by virtue of having less metal). If you are buying upper end, then 29er can be considered.
  8. Another option is to wear a thin pair of "gym" cycling shorts (without the padding) instead of underwear. At least there are no lines and they hide your naked butt from the rest of the bunch if you wear those cheap, see thru things that Mr Price sells. There is no chaffing either.
  9. Solomons have lots of specials
  10. We as cyclists need to take the first step. No motorist is going to respect someone running a red light, riding 3 or 4 abreast, holding up cars when there is a perfectly good cycle lane to use etc. Charity begins at home.
  11. A seat post is a seat post is a seat post. As long as it holds the saddle and doesn't break, any brand will do. The weight difference between the brands is negliable and won't affect your performance. Just get the cheapest one in the colour that best matches your bike.
  12. Actually the lanes are spotlessly clean.
  13. Cape Town has more dedicated cycling lanes (or pavements) than any city in SA. The cyclists still ride on the road.
  14. have you seen this........https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/74876-focus-izalco-team-10/ You are getting a lot of bike for your money. The groupset alone is almost worth the purchase price.
  15. Are you sure that it is a lifetime warranty? To my knowledge Silverback only offers a 3 year warranty.
  16. My dream is the Etape Tour in France. Takes place on a Tdf mountain stage, the day before the actual Tdf does it.
  17. With all the negative publicity regarding the breakages, do you really want a Scott
  18. That is not the only thread complaining about Scott. There are plenty others. My Scott has given me years of good service, but considering the bad experiences of Hubbers and Scott's poor after sales, I would not recommend them.
  19. yes you can. It is called a Post Mount adaptor. It allows you to fit post mount brakes to an IS mount fork.
  20. Please elaborate
  21. Hehe..........rotors as in disc brakes. You are refering to chain rings
  22. Wait for JZ's next birthday
  23. Measure your inside leg and multiply by 0.65. That is a better (but not perfect) way to measure frame size. Height is not a good approximation. This is more or less the frame size if you get the following result from the formula: 52 Small 54 Medium 56 Large 58 Xtra large 60 XXtra large Also, some brands differ from other in terms of sizing. Rather get a proper sizing done.
  24. Nolipoli, that means you will never own another bike. They all work like that. Its not a good way to operate, but that is how the cycle industry works. I know of 2 people, both buying big brands, who were supplied different frames when theirs were faulty.
  25. I suppose i'm only doing this for sympathy, but only fellow cyclists will understand. 6 weeks ago, I managed to tear my rib muscles getting stuck in the "Letterbox" (Cango Caves). 3 weeks of no riding. Then I pulled a muscle in my lower back which turned into spasm and compressed a nerve causing pain in my leg. Another 3 weeks of no riding. Today, my first ride in 6 weeks. I ride with my daughter to school. She wipes out on a gentle downhill, I hit her from behind and go righter over my bars, breaking my arm. Another 4 weeks off. Can it get worse? Dad and daughter are now sitting at home looking for sympathy, full of cuts, scrapes and bruises. On the positive side, she was called on stage at assembly, full of bandages (thanks to the school nurse) and was made a prefect for 2014
