  1. Today on my ride today back home through the southern burbs. I came across a procession of traffic being held up by a bakkie with their hazards flashing. Once I got to the bakkie it was apparent they were riding behind a group of cyclists. I questioned the driver whilst passing why and that all their doing is annoying motorists further and giving cyclists a bad name, he just told me to be quiet! So I'm just ranting why do this! I'm an avid cyclist who rides 200km plus a week so I know riding on the road has it dangers! Rant over!
  2. Not sure if it’s ethical to post your referral link and not disclose the fact that you get a monetary gain from it after the insurance is in force for 3 months plus.
  3. Having a weekend in Tulbagh this weekend, thinking about the Bone Route. I'm going to be riding alone and I see that it passes through an informal settlement on the way back, any comments on this? Also does anyone have the GPX file of the full trail? Thanks
  4. Hi Anyone used or has one of these, can give some feedback (https://thermowear.co.za/product/back-on-track-saddle-pouch/). I have the Apidura top tube bag that I used for the 36One, the equivalent Apidura seat post bag around 3K, the Thermowear R1150, quite a saving for something that might be used once or twice a year. Thanks for any feedback
  5. I 'upgraded' my half GG entry to the proper one. It's my third 36one, going to find it interesting on the GG.
  6. So you've set the top paddle/ button to go down the cassette now? Must admit I had a few moments on my first ride Saturday fumbling with the switch!
  7. I've entered as a non racer, will there still be a position / time list issued at the end to see where we came on the 'fun' ride!
  8. Hi I imported last year's 36one route to Rouvy. It imported fine, however the top down satellite view doesn't inspire net to ride it. Have you managed a different more engaging visual?
  9. Anyone wanting to sell their solo 36one entry, I know entries are still open.
  10. Im considering doing this on CX this year, not to win. Just for the challenge. If I remember apart from Roiberg down there wasn't anything too bad for a CX. Am I mad?
  11. I enjoyed the race. My hand is still numb though and I have rear that only a baboon could love!! Hopefully I can get through the Swartberg 100 on Saturday!
  12. As WaldoZ states, the full race needs the medical questionaire, I called them this afternoon.
  13. Is it compulsory for the medical forms. As I haven't done so
  14. I have a CX bike that doubles up as a road bike at present, this until funds allow the purchase of a new road bike. I use it mostly on the road and don't think I'm that slow on it! I have 2 sets of wheels, one with 25mm road wheels the other set are tubeless 38mm. I did complete the Transkaroo and been over the Kirstenbosch green belt a couple times on it, and intend to do the Swartberg 100 in a few weeks. I'm not totally sure but I think CX bikes are more limited on tyre widths compared to the gravel / adventure bikes, mainly due to the max tyre size for CX races being 35mm. Gravel / adventure bikes maybe up to 50mm.
  15. I did the same went to the other uitspan farm! Missed my start time, in fact nearly missed the final batch start. I was climbing under the barrier when the off was signaled. Last rider out for the 60km race! I don't think my heart rate recovered for the whole 60km!
  16. This may sound like a daft question. I was lucky enough to pick up a free ticket for the 60km race, just had to pay the substitution fee only (thanks Shaun for that). I noticed on his letter he scanned he was in group EL, I looked in the pack and I see I have a C sticker so would I be right in assuming I am in start group CL now, going off at 7.20. Thanks
  17. This looks rather suspect i think... https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-bicycles-cycling/thabazimbi/2017-cervelo-s5-road-bike/1002224157780911338918309
  18. Mine was in spam
  19. 2K, I have no idea why, and I don't class myself as a snake! Only doe the one tonner, which I didn't think I did that well either.
  20. I have no doubt they will refund me, just a bit disappointing that they hadn't been in touch prior to listing the event cancelled on the site. Yes, I was one of the few last year!! I'm doing the 361 same weekend of the Cederberg 100miler. I had it all worked out to do the 361, Swartberg 100 and Transkaroo with back tob ack weekends, seems thats not going to happen now!!
  21. Just a heads up, after receiving correspondence from the PPA about the possible cancellation of the 2018 event and ideas for how it may happen on the 22/01 Nothing received since this, on checking the Transkaroo site today it states it was cancelled on the 25/01. Nice of the PPA to let me and possible others know the event had been cancelled, and arranging my refund!
  22. Evening all Just getting round to booking my accommodation at the finish point of the event. They only have camping left, I don't fancy getting in the bakkie and driving off anywhere after the event (my goal is to finish even ifs its with 30 seconds to go!). So being a pom and naturally being used to the cold I am going to book a camping pitch. The pitch fee is R300 and allows up to 6 people, if anyone needs to camp let me know as we can save a bit.( which can go towards some more hot water bottle) Marcus
