  1. I, for one, was an avid road cyclist. I entered as many races as I could, in preparation of what I deemed the "big 3", ie the CTCT, 94,7 and Amashova. Nowadays it is prohibitively expensive to enter road races, and the last road race I did, was this year's CTCT, and my next road race will probably be the 2023 CTCT. Mtb races are also becoming too expensive to enter, and with fuel and other costs of traveling taken into consideration, unaffordable. I do not even own a road bike anymore, and use my hybrid/homebuild Gravel Grinder to do road rides when there is enough other cyclists with me. Riding/training on the roads on your own is too dangerous. I am lucky in that I can get to our local trailheads by using the backroads through the suburbs on my Mtb. Road racing has lost its allure for me, and I don't see how it can be won back.
  2. Cool. We can meet one morning and either do a Botteleray to Stellies ride, or a Polkadraai to Stellies ride. That's if you have the time.
  3. Neville, we need to meet up for a ride once you are down here.
  4. Do you go Mtb'ing with a lock that's sturdy enough to keep a potential "liberator of bicycles" busy for more than a few seconds? I certainly don't, neither do I want to. Hence my decision to ride the trails (which I quite like when I am looking for a relaxed ride) and then go and buy my after ride coffee at a number of spots in Durbanville CBD.
  5. I rode there during the week, no way to secure your bike to the three bike racks, i.e. no locks provided. Asked the guard, he just stared blankly back at me and shrugged his shoulders. See attached pictures of the racks, not even within direct sight of the guard, especially when he's busy at the gate leading into the estate.
  6. It was just for the day of the launch, as they expected the flow trail to be extremely busy (which it was) Under correction here, as it is how I understood it.
  7. Subscribed a long time ago, enjoy your style/way of doing your trail reviews. Gonna miss Melissa's "Hi Guys" and naughty smile for the next few months. Congrats on your pienkvoet that's on the way.
  8. What I take out of this thread is that there is personal beef with Patrick, that is dragged into the open instead of being resolved in private, or bygones let to me bygones. Typical Cancell / Woke behavior. 😉
  9. I also do not use any of the amenities inside the estate, for that exact same reason. I refuse to leave my bike (although not very valuable in monetary sense, but to me it is irreplaceable). How will that guard know that the person leaving with a bike, is in fact the owner. Any person can don a cycling shirt and go and help himself to a bike hanging over a bike rack, in an open area with no access control. I cycle the 5km odd into town, where there is a myriad venues where my bike is in sight whilst having a post ride coffee and snack.
  10. I've got the same goal, 21 before my 60th. Only three to go. Was aiming at 21 in a row, but the two cancelled editions due to the Wind and Covid put a stop to that.
  11. Sadly, yes. There was an incident a week or so ago where a small group got attacked by a few perps who blocked them of with a car, and jumped out with a firearm and knifes. Read this on a whatsapp chat group, not 100% sure of all the details.
  12. Just a general word of caution. Don't cycle alone in the area of the Barrel Pub on the Tiekiedraai road (Burgundy Estate area) There has been a few incidents in this area lately, with another one this weekend where 3 x perps attacked a lone cyclist with knifes and sjamboks. Luckily passing motorists saw what happened and came to his rescue. The previous incident (the previous weekend I think) the cyclist was saved by a carload of Petrol Attendants on their way to work.
  13. How would you have avoided it when a bakkie pulls infront of you, chap on the back jumps off and grab your bike, and the chap in the passenger side of the vehicle jumps out and comes for you, possibly armed? My first instinct was to fight, but when the chap came at me from the side, I let my bike go. Chap who grabbed it initialy, threw it into the loadbin and jumped in, chap no 2 jumped on the back of the bakkie and the driver gunned it, leaving me standing lost next to the road. All of this in less than 30 seconds. So Mr Paraat, what would have done to avoid this or retain possession of your bike?
  14. That's what I said a few years back, before my bikejacking. Reality was, within 30 seconds they had my bike on the back of their bakkie, and I was left stranded next to the road, pepperspray in hand, but no chance to use it. And I thionk of myself as an "paraat" kinda guy, aware of my surroundings.
  15. This is the closest I could get, but seeing that it's in the Ukraine, he is not active at present. https://www.etsy.com/no-en/listing/786988180/scott-decalsdigital-file-ukraine-digital
  16. I have, but they not have exactly what I want.
  17. They were my first stop, but they cannot help me with all the original decals in the original locations. I would like to keep it "original" but with more modern colors. The old Silver design never really stood out.
  18. Anyone that can help with a complete decal kit similar to this? I'ts time refresh my old frame with a new sprayjob and decals. I like this design, and would like to replicate the colors, but want all of the original decals in the original locations. I've looked for digital files, but could not find any for this design. I found one I like, with all the decals etc, but for it's for the Scale. The old Silver package just never stood out for me, I want it to be more modern looking.

It was a great race for Fabulous Fabio, the rest of the guys fought for the rest of the podium spots from the first corner after Fabio took the lead. Don't think the Turn 1 incident affected the outcome of the race at all. Fabio was on rails and in a league of his own. (surprisingly so, for me at least) How about Aleix's miscalculation on the last lap? That gave Fabio a bit more breathing space on the Championship log.
  21. He's a Boerseun from Rustenburg. That's the way they talk the Queens language.....lol.
  22. I offered him an old Truvativ crankset without chainrings. He said that he has the chainrings to fit, so here's to holding thumbs it works for him.
  23. Thank you Phillip, saves me a lot of time typing a reply with my one finger typing skills, and you put it a lot more eloquently than I would have. Peeves me off when the keyboard warriors gets going, without background knowledge. Reminds me of the little yapper sitting behind the fence, yapping while the big dogs walks by.
  24. I'm staying in the Northern Suburbs.
  25. Great. Now to get it to you.
