  1. Maybe I just dont understand your attack on the brand. You are happy with yours and others are happy with Silverback, agree different strokes...no attack on your perrsonality. Not having a go at your personality, agree that purchases are made for various reasons. For me I have a Silverback because at the time it was the best bang for my buck, now I will look at Silverback first because I have been that happy with the bike.
  2. MorewoodMad, you strike me as one of those guys who once they decide to emigrate feel the need to try to convince yourself/and others that you are making the right decision.Glad you are happy with your Morewood. Not sure there is a need to compare Silverback to Tata, basically calling Silverback a cheap import( sorry Tata).
  3. Value for money they are hard to beat. I am surprised there has not been much response to Henmans comment. We are soooo brand conscious...I have seen Silverbacks being punted here on the Hub. Maybe everyone is watching Henman wannabe Murray being given a lesson in tennis by Rafa!
  4. Love to know where all these poor shop owners live and the pathetic cars they are forced to drive due to "having" to own cycling shops. Good minutes, if they are the for real.
  5. Any idea what the odds are of LA not completing the TDF? I have a sneaking suspicion that something will emerge during the tour to derail his final charge. We may see him taking another "dive". Not long til it all gets going...
  6. Also subscribed. Thanks Minty.
  7. Minty, I think you should get it off your chest you will feel much better for it! You go on about your own business and how times are tough, its quicker to delete the spam than waste a whole morning on the Hub complaining and arguing about it.
  8. Seems like a lot of cash for the weight reduction...not having a go at anyone but is it more of a status thing, to say you are riding 2X9!
  9. What is the benefit of running 2x9?
  10. Yes Holla is inland from Ballito, yes bigger...but not as technical ups and downs. I think you need a combination of the two to get really fit for races.
  11. Stewie911, get on that stairmaster as well! For running its a great leg workout which assists uphill running, without the impact of actually running up hills. I am a firm believer in strong running legs equal strong hill climbing legs on your bike.
  12. No guys sorry my "chirp" about the stem was not bike related! I am not fussy about changing stems/seatposts etc, just looking for ideas. If I walk into a bike shop the sales guy will just say medium...without looking at brands or makes and got me thinking. My thinking is that a smaller bike should be easier to handle and slightly lighter but then you hear that Burry rides a large and he is no giant. Felt thanks for the link, says I should look at 17inch frame.
  13. Or is there a benefit to a smaller one? Is a smaller bike easier to handle in technical stuff?
  14. Is there a benefit to a larger bike? No way I am adjusting my stem though!
  15. I am about 175cm and weigh 78kgs...what size mtb should I use? Medium or small. Is there a clear cut size, or is it dependent on the manufacturer? Thanks,
  16. Soutie69, did you buy yours at the Comrades expo? I could not believe the queue of fools to buy their R495 plastic band.
  17. I have read the three pages of the thread( so far) and can't belive that MJ has not said" only jokes" or "syke" or... Dude isn't single track why we ride MTB?
  18. Sorry my afrikaans is crap...so can't comment too m uch on the original post. What is the average price for bike? If its R10 000, then the R3999 per bike is not too bad. Then think of the R25000 bikes, of which many are sold. I think that 35% is high. Can I mention the word collusion again? The reason the shops were investigated is because they were raking in massive profits. Not too many struggling businesses have been accused of collusion.
  19. Whats wrong with the bathroom scale. It lies when my missus gets on( so she says)but I think its pretty acurate. Surely if you get on without bike, take weight then hold bike and get on...the extra weight is your bikes weight. If not happy do it a few times and take average. Its not about the grams surely...as a potential buyer I want to know if the bike is around 12kg or 15kg not 12.125kg and 14.975kg. Can we please standardise the spelling of chop/tjop/tchop...
  20. Tell me another sporting code that fails at so many world cup/ international competitions and they retain the captain. The problem is Smith is too powerful, he controls the side and the selectors don't have the guts( but Smith has some guts under that tight shirt!)to drop him. We need change. Glad to see Miller has had a call up!
