  1. I would be interested to know if he felt his time improve with the weight saving.
  2. Andrew..." If you take my Power Balance again I will run you off the road. I am being paid good money to wear it!"
  3. How do you keep the water out while washing? Is that where the seals come in? As you can see from XCM shock, bike fairly bottom of the range so if there is no quick fix at home I think I will wait for my new bike. Not sure its worth servicing the shock for a month or two when I don't have anything major planned. Thanks.
  4. I have heard of air shocks before, but my XCM Suntour shocks have some water coming out of them! After rides/cleaning the beast, I hang it up in the garage, and when I do the water( which is dark and stains everything it touches) drips out of the shocks. This can't be good, what should I do?
  5. This just in...the Sharks will be using the power balance technology this season. The opposition teams are unsure of how to bring them to ground...so great are the powers of these bracelets. The Sharks coaching staff are understandably relieved, as they have no other tricks up their sleeves this season. Season ticket sales are up due to this announcement and vendors at the ground are hailing the Power Balance technology as the answer to the recession.
  6. Gets very expensive taking them every 45mins as they recommend...R15 each, times three plus the entry plus the petrol...it all adds up. Peanut butter sarnies and an energy bar.
  7. I cannot believe I have just read this whole thread expecting to get to read/see something...and nothing. Bump...if thats what you wnat!
  8. MartynS, sorry to hear. I rode there in the morning but in a group. We actually mentioned the fact that it is dangerous to be out there on your own. Loads of guys seem to ride from Giba out into that area, so maybe start from there. Heal well.
  9. Manbearpig...thanks for that great laugh!!!
  10. Yip... and they will be at a stadium near you!
  11. Guys please get over the knife wielding/gun wielding thugs...they are everywhere. My mate was mugged during the day in Paris outside his hotel, when he went back in to sort himself out( bleeding etc) the hotel staff told him he was the 7th guest of theirs mugged over two days. Yes crime is bad, yes they will target tourists, but the security will be good around the venues. 9 pages of mainly negative posts...its coming lets embrace it.
  12. The negativity seems to be a Souf Efrican thing. Our negative rantings do no good in encouraging tourists to come to this amazing place and spend their currency( which we desperately need) The cash injection is exactly what we need to help get us out of our recession. Every european country would give anything to have the opportunity we have. Just take a look at the post regarding the ride in Cape Town this morning, that is world class. Yes we have issues, but so does everyone else, deal with them, alert visitors to them( as we would be if visisting New York, London etc) Yes the negativity is unproductive, the world cup is coming like it not, so rather make the most of it and try to make sure that every visitor is greeted with a smile.
  13. Canaan comp good value...have you tried Dave Wiseman Cycles in Glenwood. They have a great range at that level and very good advice.
  14. I also like the Off Rhodes one. If it is not a race but rather an adventure/ experience or high ultitude training ride, then I think you should try to differentiate yourself from the true races somehow in the name. Rhodes MTB Experience Rhodes MTB Weekender Rhodes Dirty Weekend( sorry just dreaming) Off Rhodes Rage 3 Days Off Rhodes
  15. Not sure they can find any more time in the week to get in the gym. Would like to know if the weight gain of building muscles is a concern.
  16. " I can like to wear a overshoe"
  17. That is awesome...looks a bit muddy. The great thing about this sport is that it is so many different things to so many different people. You can ride the same trail as a multi millionaire on a bike that is a 10th of the value of his. You can get to see the most amazing places in this country of ours. You can struggle for an hour to get to the top of a hill only to turn around and spend 10mins racing down it...or stop at the top and enjoy the view. I love it!
  18. Some input please. I love the look of the GT Zaskar...and have seen some selling second hand on the Hub. The Giant XTC2 also looks like a great bike, nice and light... If I can get the same specs, would it be better to get the new Giant or a second hand GT? I would spend about R11k. Or is there something else out there that I have not seen yet? I am happy with a hard tail( read I do not have enough money to get a soft tail!) and am looking for a light, well specced bike. Thanks.
  19. Thanks Tankman...at least tomorrow on my ride I can talk with some authority( or maybe mumble) on it!
  20. Ok guys educate me/us..."Spinning out"? When you say 52/36 and 11/28...what are you reffering to? What do you need to change to swop to change to a compact? What is the weight saving? Thanks.
  21. I am just glad it was posted under Tech Q&A and not Photos!! Good luck...
  22. " I fully support Neotels move to pull the plug." Can you honestly tell me that Neotel believed that their tenure in sponsoring a pro cycling team would be drug free!! They knew the sport has a poor track record of drugs and the bad press that would follow when one of their riders was caught.
  23. Why dual suspension bikes?
  24. What is ghost shifting?
  25. Food or lack of it seems to be the common thread...didn't Contador forget to eat and bonk last year?
