When discussing the TDF, always use the disclaimer that you have never actaully ridden pro or elite...that way people will only feel sorry for you and not attack you( like you had just dropped a chain)for your comments.
Please explain why they are so different. Both road and MTB rely heavily on equipment that can and does fail. If you have poor equipment or have not looked after yours then why should anyone wait for you. I think that they are both cycling events, both elite and the both unwritten rules should apply.
Great, been out for three hours, come back and take one hour to read allll the posts to find something enlightening...just wasted an hour. Same guys same view point same outcome. All that matters now is that AC starts in yellow and who ends in yellow on Sunday. For me I would like to see AC make up the 31 seconds he was behind during one of the stages other than the TT, to prove he is stronger and deserves the win even without the chain mishap.
Watched it last night and old Phil said straight away that he had the right to go...the other guy only said later on that he was not sure. I heard on Sky that LA agreed that AC should have gone and reminded everyone that AC had waited for AS earlier in the tour and that showed his sportsmanship. For all those quoting soccer and injured players, during the final minutes of the SWC final Torres went down with what looked like a life threatening injury...and Netherlands took the ball from him and kept playing looking for the goal.
I can see it on Saturday...Matt Gitteau beaks the line again and while running to the try line pulls a hammie...all the Sprinboks stop and kick the ball into touch so he can get treatment! Its an unwritten rule!
Andy made a mistake which cost him time. If it had been the other way round I bet this would have been a different view from our Hubbers. Lots of anti AC here to start with. They all cheat and lie about their activities in the team vans( note no mention of d.....)so get off the high horses guys. But then again I ride for fun have never taken part in a road race or anything provincial so what do I know.
Hagar, in case you return...if you are in Dbn head to Power Cycles( old Shauns Power Cycles) in Umgeni Road and chat to the guys there. They are stocking Morewood frames with the intention of selling you a frame and the components you want. They have stock on the ground and seem to be getting great assistance from Morewood.
Thanks, the runners often speak of training twice a day to increase endurance and fitness quickly. Are there many cyclists who use this approach. The one run is very easy and the other is more intense. The RunnersWorld website is running a story on it at present.

Do you think they would get upset if you ordered online at the cheaper price, and then asked for delivery to their own shop...for you to collect at your leasure? While you are there you can show the walk in customers how they are getting ripped.

Guys and gals, there are lots of rude people on this forum. Colonel may have left, but he is not alone in his agro and mudslinging. As someone else said he did call a spade a spade, nothing wrong with that. I am a bit amazed that the moderator has only arrived now that he has left...and the topic has been removed. Surely some intervention before it escalated would have kept all parties in check. Sad to have people leave the forum.
