  1. Jason you need to find what works for you and your goals. If you are trying to win the race then you need to go from the gun, but if you want finish in the top 25% then you can try to finish stronger. You are going to have to try a few methods and find which works for you. I agree with the warmups and that you must train like you intend to race. A mate of mine is fairly competitive and his angle when he started was to go as hard as he could from the gun, until he blew...every race. Eventually his body adapted to the exertion levels required and he lasted longer and longer before he blew.
  2. Surely you cant post this under Rant and Rave thats far too much agro...surely something more easy going like Chit Chat or Wanted.
  3. Like it and agree the jokes were good years back...not now.
  4. Trout fishing in Underberg...
  5. Advert in the latest Bomb Surf mag, with a bunch of surfers wearing black t-shrits with logos on and the one is " Livewrong".
  6. Its a bit like our attitude to drinking and driving. In other countries it is frowned upon to drink and drive...here you are a tosser if you don't.
  7. With you on this one...cant turn it up loud enough!
  8. Only page 5, this could go on with no change to either sides debate for another 10 pages! Basically when you ride on the road, you take your life into your own hands, the drivers have little or no respect for riders( due in large to the arrogance of riders) and the riders have little respect for drivers( due in large to above). We have to accept in SA that riding on the road is like going for a walk in downtown Jhb after dark with a camera hanging around your neck, long socks with sandles and dripping in bling...at some stage you are going to come across someone who wants to take you out! Dont look for it. For me aggressive riding is not the answer, the answer is riding single file on quieter roads and obeying the laws. Stay safe.
  9. These are the front and rear derailler for the Nomad 80....Shimano TX31 / Tourney 21 speed, Prowheel crankset...anyone have any info on them?
  10. Morning, anyone seen the new Raleigh 29er 80( I think its called). I have heard of one being sold for around R3000, with average components, Suntour shock, mechanical disc brakes etc. Sounds like it might be a very good entry level bike, and with an upgrade or two could very good good value. Actually the Nomad range of bikes look nice all round.
  11. RB, dont touch me on my studio!
  12. I thought you could only use the word agent, with the word bloody preceding it?
  13. Do you think its worth buying the milk and maybe upgrading to cream when I have the cash?
  14. Agreed very good info. I have stayed away from mixing energy gels with 32GI, but seems that for the last bit of a race it may be worth it for a kick. The other thing I have to work on is my pre race meal!
  15. Racist!!
  16. Is the Garmin 305 not more of a running watch?
  17. I think the topic header works better as a statement rather than a question!
  18. Thats only circumstantial evidence though!
  19. Another thread that could have just been fun turned a bit personal. Anyway the good news is that I have convinced my son that if he asks to watch the tour and my missus agrees...he will get a treat! Three weeks of training and he is starting to enjoy it!
  20. What tyres would they be using in the wet? Do they have wet and dry tyres like on motor bikes? I would be terrified going downhill in the wet, especially over the white road markings!
  21. Is that the descent then?
  22. What time does live coverage start?
