But everyone did the same distance, not sure what the problem is? its less than a 4% difference?

its a difficult one, if you do get into the whole cycling thing, you will definately want to upgrade at a stage, then you are stuck with an entry level bike that you wont get your money back on... so push that budget as far as you can.. But then again, maybe you dont really get into the cycling thing and you keep going on the entry level bike and you are happy... just my opinion, doesnt help really, just planting a seed...use it, dont use it..

Wont this upset the retailers a bit, these guys are bypassing the retailers to sell the stock to the public at the same price (I presume) that they sell it to the retailers for, as far as I understand, this is a no no in the cycling industry especially???

dude, go tubeless rather than tubes.. keep a spare tube with you incase you get a sidewall cut.. i have been running racing ralphs (not snakeskin) for ages without tubes and i ride groenkloof a lot, which has a lot of sharp rocks... it will still be more reliable than tubes...
