  1. What are the bottlecage holes on the toptube for? a type of "SWAT" system?
  2. great race and great route, only problem was the routes joining.. it really slowed us down lot on the bike, had long single track sections with little opportunity to pass.. will be back for the next though..
  3. Some people use whatsapp to chat to their mates, some people use thehub...
  4. I was very excited to see that message re the short yesterday.. how does the seeding work? do we get it at registration or can we find out before?
  5. have had quite a few guys telling me they are taking my 2x10 groupo.. never hear anything further..my favourite was peter that wasted my time from the Saturday till the Tuesday - eventually told him to deposit a holding deposit and then he went quiet... I suppose he is still fixing a truck in secunda or is it escort??
  6. Resprayed bike with new groupo on :-)
  7. Only once I think and by mistake for our batch, we were sent out to the right at the start and went out for 5km before realising something was wrong, headed back to the start and then had to do the full route - always fun doing a 10km warm up before you actually head out on the normal route.. :-) this was quite a few years back..
  8. http://www.obiketestsite.co.za/joomla30/index.php/component/rokecwid/?Itemid=#!/~/category/id=10163038&offset=0&sort=normal not sure if you have seen this?
  9. A friend cycled past after it happened and he said that a guy in a bakkie passed a taxi on the yellow lane and then lost control and hit the cyclist and the bakkie rolled.. That's what he heard at the scene.. It's terrible and so unnesesary, a stupid twit that was too impatient and believes rules don't apply to him.. Now a family and friends are in mourning due to someone that could just wait their turn, it's typical!! (That's what I have heard, not first hand knowledge)
  10. LIKE - Tri is often about NOT losing time, push too hard and the 5 minutes you make up on the bike, can add 40 minutes to your run.. last year on the Rockman I smashed the bike pretty hard, was lying top 10, then got such a spasm in my back that I pretty much walked the run and ended WAY back..
  11. hahahaha - glad we cleared it up then...
  12. Agree - Smash it is very loose indeed - if you have done a few brick sessions in training, you should know how you feel coming off the bike onto the run.. take it easy when you start running, I always feel super strong when I start the run and realised very quickly that the strength drains very fast... rather start slow and build the pace if you can.. on the bike give it a good go, but don't kill yourself! For your first tri, rather finish thinking I should have pushed it a bit harder, better than blowing up on the run and hurting all the way home... remember to stretch the legs in the last few kms of the bike, stand up, drop your heels, stretch the legs out as much as possible, will really help the transition to the run... enjoy the first one, its a super experience...
  13. 5150 is short enough to pretty much smash it all the way... that said, save a little for the run of course.. but smash it none the less..
  14. chances are their insurance wont pay out if they are proved to have been drunk.. not sure how that would affect your claim..??
  15. haha - luckily I will never have to pass you on the bike....
  16. Going 1x11 - all X01, besides crank which is XX1
  17. haha, in all the excitement of the new fatherhood craziness, I managed to forget to pay for my 5150 bela-bela entry.. I have now entered (and paid) for hakahana! I must say in a way I am relieved, as I haven't swam since Feb and I am keen to tame my newly refurbed and upgraded beast...

  23. I saw the one Kenyan lady, she was riding in tekkies and plastic flat pedals, when I say riding, she was walking the downhill sections...
  24. the course looks really nice, flowing single track sections, nice drop offs, technical bits..they are only showing the first 3 riders basically, haven't seen any of the other riders really..
