  1. On the route of the One Tonner this Sunday, about 2,5 km from the start. Neutral till there as a mark of respect?
  2. According to the highlights package he was on a dual suspension even though he was preparing for the gravel world championships.
  3. "Met een armpje in de lucht en een gebaar dat hij er zelf niet kan aan doen, komt Meintjes als ritwinnaar over de streep." and "Louis Meintjes (Intermarché-Wanty) kwam solo als eerste over de streep. "Dit is misschien een zege, maar zo voelt het niet aan", reageerde de Zuid-Afrikaan ingetogen." I think he handled it very well and respectfully.
  4. 210 @ 15h00
  5. I do!
  6. It would be interesting to know what these ladies, and other not sponsored riders, were using.
  7. I prefer the mat to mat format. It removes the benefit of crowding to the front of a start group and makes for a much more relaxed atmosphere. The cyclosportif worked very well and showed that a funride can be held while respecting covid 19 protocols. The racing categories (elite, sub-vet, vet, etc) have never been decided on time. There are either cameras or spotters to see who crosses the line first, second and third.
  8. From the site: 1.1. To partake in the Cycle Tour, riders must in the year of the event turn: 1.1.1. 13 (thirteen) years old; or 1.1.2. 11 (eleven) years old if riding on the back of a tandem with an adult.
  9. I think they should cancel, but they have not. The regulations do not prevent the holding of the event, unless the minister of sport has issued a directive that I do not know of.
  10. Gent Wevelgem not cancelled, it is this coming Sunday. RVV next week.
  11. Wes-Vleteren 12, 2nd bottle from the right, regularly voted best beer in the world, and I agree, is only available at the abby in Belgium. Rochefort 10 comes a close 2nd for me, and I have found them at "The biggest little beer shop" in Bellville and at Roeland St Liquors in Cape Town. Both outlets also had some of the others.

  13. Great ride, beautiful route, excellently organised, great vibe at start and finish, friendly and well stocked waterpoints. I wouldn't change anything. Please repeat next year.
  14. The 45 min compulsory break is really unnecessary. They measure the time in two sections anyway, and the total time can just be the sum of the two. Let everyone spend as much time as they want or need at the pont without having to stress about losing time. The general feeling was that official cars and 100 miler riders should get preference, so without a potential time penalty everybody would be much more relaxed.
  15. Strength vs strength is achieved by having A and B sections, as it used to be and is intended to be implemented. (I do not know why they need to delay this by a season.) As you point out, super rugby proves that franchises by no means automatically produce strength vs strength. All our franchise system did was to take away the identities of the teams. Referring to super rugby again, I read that the NZ teams are asking for the names to revert back to including where they come from, such as Canterbury Crusaders, Otago Highlanders and thus Queensland Reds, Gauteng Lions and so on. I believe teams should have identities and the unimaginative names used in our franchises destroyed that.
