  1. It would be interesting to know what these ladies, and other not sponsored riders, were using.
  2. I prefer the mat to mat format. It removes the benefit of crowding to the front of a start group and makes for a much more relaxed atmosphere. The cyclosportif worked very well and showed that a funride can be held while respecting covid 19 protocols. The racing categories (elite, sub-vet, vet, etc) have never been decided on time. There are either cameras or spotters to see who crosses the line first, second and third.
  3. From the site: 1.1. To partake in the Cycle Tour, riders must in the year of the event turn: 1.1.1. 13 (thirteen) years old; or 1.1.2. 11 (eleven) years old if riding on the back of a tandem with an adult.
  4. I think they should cancel, but they have not. The regulations do not prevent the holding of the event, unless the minister of sport has issued a directive that I do not know of.
  5. Gent Wevelgem not cancelled, it is this coming Sunday. RVV next week.
  6. Wes-Vleteren 12, 2nd bottle from the right, regularly voted best beer in the world, and I agree, is only available at the abby in Belgium. Rochefort 10 comes a close 2nd for me, and I have found them at "The biggest little beer shop" in Bellville and at Roeland St Liquors in Cape Town. Both outlets also had some of the others.
  7. Great ride, beautiful route, excellently organised, great vibe at start and finish, friendly and well stocked waterpoints. I wouldn't change anything. Please repeat next year.
  8. The 45 min compulsory break is really unnecessary. They measure the time in two sections anyway, and the total time can just be the sum of the two. Let everyone spend as much time as they want or need at the pont without having to stress about losing time. The general feeling was that official cars and 100 miler riders should get preference, so without a potential time penalty everybody would be much more relaxed.
  9. On the N2/Barrington/Karatara/N2 loop the groups will have to cross each other. How will this be done?
  10. So what do they stand for? Where do they stand in the options I gave?
  11. Exactly the point. Why call yourself "pro-choice" if that includes even only 0.1% of people who think like that? I believe most people are actually "pro-life" but have their own idea of when "life" begins. I am curious to know what those are.
  12. Lies? From your quoted links: “Kathy Tran, a Democrat, was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2017. She introduced HB 2491 earlier this year, and in a committee hearing on Monday, she was questioned about the bill by fellow delegate Todd Gilbert, a Republican. “How late in the third trimester could a physician perform an abortion if he indicated it would impair the mental health of the woman?” Gilbert asked. “Through the third trimester,” Tran responded. “The third trimester goes all the way up to 40 weeks.” “Where it’s obvious that a woman is about to give birth,” Gilbert then asked, “would that still be a point at which she could request an abortion if she was so certified? She’s dilating.” “My bill would allow that,” Tran said.” And “The bill began inspiring outcry among abortion opponents nationwide after its sponsor, Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran, said in a committee hearing on Monday that it would technically allow abortion until the point of birth, if a doctor agreed it was necessary. Gov. Northam, a Democrat, was asked about the bill in a radio interview on Wednesday, and his response only added to the controversy. Appearing to discuss what would happen if a child was born after a failed attempt at abortion, he said, “the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.””
  13. It seems to me that some of us are hiding behind bible bashing, religion ridiculing rhetoric, and avoiding taking a standpoint as to when we believe life should be protected. Here are some options, in chronological order. 1. Conception, because that is when life begins according to science. 2. Implantation, because in layman’s terms that is really when pregnancy starts. 3. Heart starts beating, which is what the USA Republican Party seem to be trying to legislate for where they have a majority. 4. Sentient life, or consciousness (ability to feel pain, awareness of impulses)( I had to google it, CBlake’s position.) 5. Viability, chance of surviving if born prematurely, which obviously would depend on the facilities available. 6. Birth 7. Only if the biological mother wants the baby to live, even if it should survive an attempted abortion. This seems to be the USA Democratic Party’s stance, trying to pass legislation allowing abortion surviving babies to be left to die if the “mother” does not want it.
  14. Have you read the bill? (I have'nt). Maybe it isn't archaic, backward and conservative. The post I reacted to is so obviously rubbish. It would help to stick to facts.
  15. Alabama State House Bill 314, sponsored by Rep. Terri Collins, a lady, makes an abortion and attempted abortion a felony. Exceptions are allowed if the mother’s life is at risk. Mothers would not be punished for having an abortion under the legislation, which would make killing a baby in an abortion a felony punishable by life or 10 to 99 years in prison for abortionists who kill them. The Alabama Senate approved the ban 25-6. The Alabama House of Representatives voted 74-3 in favour of the proposal. The governor that signed the bill into law is a lady. If 32 of the people that voted for the bill were Republican men, then the other 67 that voted for the bill must have been women or Democratic party men.
  16. Strength vs strength is achieved by having A and B sections, as it used to be and is intended to be implemented. (I do not know why they need to delay this by a season.) As you point out, super rugby proves that franchises by no means automatically produce strength vs strength. All our franchise system did was to take away the identities of the teams. Referring to super rugby again, I read that the NZ teams are asking for the names to revert back to including where they come from, such as Canterbury Crusaders, Otago Highlanders and thus Queensland Reds, Gauteng Lions and so on. I believe teams should have identities and the unimaginative names used in our franchises destroyed that.
  17. Going back to provincial cricket is a good move. The present club (franchise) competition was a backwards step. In future I will at least know who is playing who.
  18. It has always been legal where the life of the mother was in danger. Why were the "hurdles" not just addressed?
  19. Ireland used to have very strict abortion laws, but even they allowed abortion where pregnancy endangered a woman's life. Why are you arguing a situation that does not exist?
  20. It was provincial cricket then, and the teams had identities. Franchises are just clubs with funny names and without identities. Both rugby and cricket thought that the English football model would work here but it certainly does not work for me. As an example, who are the Eagles and where are they located? Unless you know what sport, you cannot answer.
  21. If the Zondas are quicker than the Shamals, why even consider the Shamals?
  22. According to this study, the 2 year rainfall is a 1:1150 event. http://www.csag.uct.ac.za/2017/08/28/how-severe-is-this-drought-really/
