  1. Was Durban ever considered as a race venue? I'm sure you would get a lot more Jozi interest (and therefore race entries) and that town is perhaps a little more sports conducive.
  2. Had the same when Tissink came past me to finish his cycle leg while hunting down Vanhoenacker. The crowd support was intense
  3. From the organisers Dear athlete We know it has been an extremely disappointing week for you following the announcement of Challenge Cape Town's postponement. As you already know, you will receive a full refund from Challenge Cape Town or you can roll your entry over to 2012 and receive a free relay team entry for friends or family. In addition, we'd like to offer you the opportunity to race at one of our other full distance Challenge events, anywhere in the world - the entry would of course be free of charge. The available races are: 21.01.12 - Challenge Wanaka, New Zealand 03.06.12 - Challenge Cairns, Australia 08.07.12 - Challenge Roth, Germany (limited numbers on first come first served basis) 12.08.12 - Challenge Copenhagen, Denmark 18.08.12 - Challenge Vichy, France 16.09.12 - Challenge Henley-on-Thames, UK 30.09.12 - Challenge Barcelona, Spain If you wish to take advantage of this offer, please contact me before 11 November 2011 and I will put you in direct contact with each of the individual race directors to finalize your registration. Please note this applies to new entries only. Next week the CEO of Challenge Family, Felix Walchshoefer, will visit Cape Town and meet with the City and the Challenge Cape Town team. While there, he will take a close look at the issues that led to the event being postponed, predominantly the road closures and why, despite having permissions in place in time for the launch in March, we were unable to achieve a course that was acceptable for the entire field. This will be both an internal and external exercise and by doing it openly and honestly we will move forward to delivering you an event, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, that South Africa can be proud of in 2012 If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch and I look forward to providing you with a much more positive Challenge experience in the future. All the best Victoria
  4. I like how when you check the Challenge website, the count down clock still says 17 days to go...
  5. For those who are keen. Message from a mate of mine who had entered. Hey guys with ‘apparently’ (I say apparently because an official entrant I have had no notification!! *&!) challenge CT cancelled, im planning on doing my own ‘day out’…. Cos I can. Im gonna going to start at Seapoint Pavillion (50m pool), at 7:30am, • bang out 3kn, in my wetsuit, then jump on my bike • Seapoint, Chapmans peak, black hill, Cape Point, Slankop-Kommetjie, back over ocean view to Scarborough, back to cape Point, Fishhoek, Chappies, back to seapoint pool (about 150km), - with compulsory espresso shot stop at simonstown • Then go for a trot, along seapoint promenade to waterfront, through town, over kloof nek, down camps bay drive to camps bay, back along promenade to seapoint pool. (about 25ks) Just a ‘mother’ day out training in the ‘mother’ city. Winner gets a kick in the balls. Feel free to pass on. I think ill put this out as on aopen letter on the PTC website… Dave 0833053921 Yours in the triathlon underground movement www.plumsteadtriathlonclub.co.za
  6. Just a note from a mate of mine who was entered. Perhaps some of you would like to join... 7. He lives/trains and blogs from CT, so no skin off his back. Bet his entry was free as well...
  8. I have to agree with Garf here. These Challenge clowns have cost a lot of the working class plenty money that they will never see again. Don't worry my man, with BSG Prestige, Buffelspoort Ultra, and the Xterra all coming up in the next couple months, there is plenty to train for in Jozi.
  9. Is that Prestige Ultra confirmed? They are taking ages to finalise the date on the website
  10. Sounds like a euphemistic way of saying cancelled.
  11. Thats about 5 times more training that I did my first time (and currently for that matter). Don't worry about the swim. Its over before you know it. 6 weeks of solid swims 3 times a week at 2km will be more than sufficient. You will smash the day easily with a program like that.
  12. Don’t have enough athletes to get full road closure
  13. Definitely cancelled. Comes from highest authority. Sorry to all who entered.
  14. Vicious rumours doing the rounds that the race has been cancelled. Comes from top Pro triathletes. News to be released on Thursday...
  15. Why not ride your own brand?
  16. I raced this year and last year with two Besemax tabs ten kms from the end of the bike (the only legal painkiller to race on). Advice came from the Physio and the doc, to assist with the ITB issues in the second half of the run leg. Worked like a charm. Can get at any pharmacy. Like Panado, just bit more sport specific. And anybody who has done the epic and not slukked down a myprodol or three in the last two days of the race is lying...
  17. Come on Fabian!
  18. Wetsuit legal? Or you think will be too warm?
  19. Is anyone else having issues with the 70.3 website? Trying to enter and the "cannot find server" error is appearing...
  20. She may have never won a grandslam, but who cares
  21. Road MTB or TT?
  22. Gotta love the US
  23. Got the email!
  24. Where did you hear this? Holy moley...
  25. Thanks Mr Mulebar!
