  1. Cables are still a mess but I love my Habit.
  2. Hi - does anyone have any feedback on the First Ascent Alumina jacket please? I need to get something for Knysna today and this looks like it would do the job. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Entry in. See you there TitusTi
  4. i have a RockShox Reba Race. Was the only thing available 2yrs ago when I build my Niner. Has been reliable but I've also made sure it's serviced regularly. Upgraded to Enduro seals and proper set up has kept it smooth so I'm not complaining too much. Has been stiff enough, but planning to upgrade to a Fox F29 RLC 15QR soon.
  5. yeti makes a 29er? this has been a rumor for about a year now with nothing to show for it. yeti themselves aren't even convinced about the size.
  6. Totally...
  7. I was lucky enough to be able to see the final stage in Paris this weekend... a great experience, but be prepared for the crowds and several hours wait if you're planning a trip there... Here are a couple pics I wanted to share: buckshot2009-07-28 15:06:57
  8. Was this picture taken in the 70's?? no, it was taken yesterday... it's just this crazy new thing in digital photography call a "black and white" picture...
  9. Niner EMD9 DMR STS kit 32x18
  10. usually about 28psi (based on my park home floor pump) and 90kg rider weight. currently using a spec fasttrac LK 2.0
  11. you using TK7.1 rims? they are know for their loose tyre fit and cause 'burps' quite easy with lower pressures, esp. when there's sideways forces. i'm managing to avoid it myself with Spec tyres and higher pressures (still low enough to give comfort and control tho.) 26' tubes work no problem.
  12. some pics from friday's ride http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3419/3242452228_c097abf3e2.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3341/3242450914_0fb5f28125.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3383/3242450002_f806fc4180.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3077/3241616455_292ea1e014.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3382/3242448084_df92cb6831.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3405/3241614131_7e6271d9f4.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3326/3241613463_ba6e835e02.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3365/3242445322_a37fe64d40.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3468/3242443468_3457722bd8.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3466/3242442832_335e9c178d.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3394/3241609567_72e0ce432d.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3535/3242441848_121e8c41ae.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3077/3241608015_756d0e92a5.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3298/3242440240_8c3ec18199.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3084/3241607181_0f7aced890.jpg
  13. i've owned the evo x set for a couple years and had some experience with the karma. the general construction of both sets seems good and i haven't had any problem with them lasting. design is also good and both sets fit quickly to various bikes. the problems i've had is mainly with the huge heavy lead acid battery i got with the evo x set. after about a year, it already discharging all it's charge between uses and it's capacity is now so small that i get only 45 min with both lights on, or about 1hr with one light. so now it's just a very good paperweight. If you like the evo x set, get the newer nicam battery which is lighter, although don't know about it's burn time. discharge would be much less of a factor also. i recently used the karma pro and was very impressed with the light weight and easy fitting. the battery fitted snugly below my stem. the beam was decent. i didn't use it for very long but i've heard that burn time is good (approx. 3hr?). I also just got the helmet kit but haven't tested it yet. I would recommend it if you're doing limited night riding and just want an uncomplicated, light and attractive set up. if you have any detailed questions, you can pm 'spandex'. if you can double the budget and take your night riding/24hr racing seriously, consider looking at a more high end set up. i just used a Night Lighting www.nightlightning.co.nz (iBlaast! i think) which was totally crazy. The battery is bigger but still comfortable to put into a race jersey pocket. I mounted it on my helmet, and didn't need any other light. It was the first time I felt as fast as riding during the day. The burn time on this puppy is rated as 6hrs...buckshot2009-01-29 06:08:22
  14. sweet - see you tomorrow
  15. well said...
  16. don't be such a plonker rock
  17. there isn't a wide range of 'niner tyres available in cpt. i've only come across SB8's and Spez Fast Track's and Captains. If you use tubes, just stick a 26' tube in, you won't have any problems. I had to import my own stans kit (Plus Four) for my DT rims as it isn't imported into SA, but you should be able to get the std 29'er stans kit locally.
  18. thanks Cheryl J and Ronelle - agreed, pics would have benefitted from flash to compensate for the harsh light. I ran out of power on my flash as the race started tho (my fault for now packing fresh one's) Maybe it's also time to step up with some PocketWizards
  19. great pics Cheryl here are a couple of mine, although i don't really like any of them... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3483/3196625966_d9cd0a2553_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3489/3195783709_36b57f31fb_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3531/3195785351_5c340ab7e2_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3398/3196630288_62354f4046_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3401/3196631684_89aa3390a7_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3307/3196641492_43828d8d9d_b.jpgbuckshot2009-01-14 05:11:13
  20. can't join this week - fork is in pieces (unless you have a spare 9er fork lying around). have a good one
  21. thanks. i've done one in the past and apart from the suffering, i was surprised how mental it was. i'm just wondering how much high intensity i should be doing, apart from time on the bike...
  22. I'm planning on solo'ing the Wiesenhof 24hr on 18th Jan and was hoping someone could send me a suitable training plan for the 8 wks I have to get some kind of form? Thanks.buckshot2008-11-21 04:36:04
