  1. Hi Hubbers, 1. Need some help to identify the actual model of this hub...( Serial number on the hub comes up blank on Google) 2. The brake side end cap is completely cross threaded and messed up and needs to be replaced. Anyone have a clue where parts are available ? 3. What is needed to run a QR.I bought this from a hubber as a 135x9 QR, but im not sure just a simple axle skewer will do the trick. Looks like QR End caps and 9mm Axle insert type is missing ? 4. This looks like a 10mm TA type hub...if so any idea how to make it work on QR dropouts or should the 10mm TA fit just fine on QR dropouts ?
  2. Halo hubs. Anyone knows who imported / currently importing this brand ?
  3. Hi, do you arrange shipping or do They do the shipping ?
  4. Thanks All for advice, Nick has now completed 3 of our rebuilds.... Thanks Nick !!!
  5. thx All
  6. Hi all, Anyone have the name and number of a senior staff member or owner of the shop please. The general contact number is not helpfull
  7. Hi all, Any recommendations on private wheelbuilders / Shops in Pretoria / Johannesburg to build a MTB wheel.
  8. As a 3 month old member on this forum and mostly a buyer, not a seller, maybe there should be a poll created for/ by buyers. This is based on my experience the last 3 months.Others may differ from my opinion. ( note that lockdown has nothing to do with this) 1- I find it easy/difficult to buy on the classifieds due to incomplete adverts. 2-I find it easy/difficult to buy due to sellers incomplete adverts. 3- I find it easy/difficult to buy due to sellers reluctance to respond timeously. 4- I find it difficult to buy anything due to over inflated prices on used parts / bikes.
  9. Thanks all, Eventually came right, bike now built. One thing that i did learn from this was to support the smaller shops..These huge brand named shops are on the same level as Makro and other similar retailer regarding customer service and staff attitude. Sorry for generalizing, that was my experience in dealing with shops the last few weeks. Thanks all for advice and recommendations.
  10. I did not want to turn this into a ranting thread, however its clear many different opinions of different shops. Thank you for your honesty and advice. I too have experienced the worst service both from CWC and Cycle lab lynnwood the last week even after contacting their head office I do understand shortage of stock, challenges with issues beyond our control, however lack of planning and arrogance by junior staff at store level is another story. No one can get hold of a manager at either of these stores, thus my request for a list of "smaller" shops to move on and support these shops that do appreciate customers business. Regards
  11. Who is that ? dont want to take the wrong advice
  12. Thanks all.
  13. Chains, Quicklink, Chainbreaker tool, Stem spacers, basically a store with just some spares..most places have zero stock.
  14. Hi all, Seems this is the worst time in history to be looking for a selection of MTB parts for a build. Most shops in PTA / JHB area are very under-stocked and the way things are now, I doubt if shops will have a proper selection of products for sale in the near future. Any recommendations for online stores in SA or a link to a list of online stores on this forum perhaps ? (Not CWC & Cycle lab )
  15. Hi all, Is there an acceptable time to allow a seller to respond to an advert enquiry. I have found that most people are very slow to respond to enquiries when sending a message or email. Those that do take the time to add their phone numbers can obviously be contacted directly much quicker. Whats with people...do they or do they not want to sell their goods....just asking. Whats everyone else experience ? Maybe a phone number should be compulsory when placing an advert ?
  16. Good example of a suspected fake S Works Recently sold in Centurion
  17. Fully agree with you 100%...Ive been hunting for a good entry level 2nd hand bike for 2 months. My comment is based from 1st hand experience in the Entry level Dual sus market. Prices Here, Gumtree, Facebook ridiculously high for 5-10yr old bikes IMO. As long as there are uninformed buyers with loads of cash, the sellers will take their money
  18. Thanks Chad, The price range im looking at is unfortunately the el cheapo suntours
  19. I hear you. I forgot to mention that the "frame upgrade" was relevant should I get my hands on a HT, then upgrade to FSR later. From my bike hunting the last 2 months it has become clear that most "good frames" with lousy components are just as expensive as an older "better" bike. I don't know whats happening in the 2nd hand entry level market, but prices are ridiculous for a 5yr old bike, IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT IT COST NEW. I have been told by some shops that a new bike loses 35-40% of its purchase value after the first year and 10% per year thereafter. That is obviously NOT the case with high prices at the moment for these old bikes. Lets face it a 5yr old bike has worked. Anyway thank you for your input. the search continues.
  20. Hi all, Ive been looking for a reasonably priced Dual sus 27.5 for the last 2 months. Nothing worth buying in my price-range. Something more Trails oriented is first prize. Flat Pedals preferred Frame size Medium ( some smalls may work) PLEASE ...Nothing with a Suntour fork Rockshox preferred Giant Trance 2 top of my wishlist but willing to buy any other quality brand and model. Lower spec frame also not to much of an issue as long as group set, suspension and wheels are good. ( can upgrade frame later) Brakes not much of an issue, have a complete brand new set of brakes in boxes. I suspect the market may be flooded after lockdown, so now's the time to make a decision if you want to sell or not ! Budget R15k max If all else fails, I'm willing to look at some HT's Pretoria / Centurion / JHB areas Willing to look at bikes from other provinces if you have a good seller rating on this forum. Regards, Inbox me or 0833978067
  21. Nope, Brand new built up. Frame apparently from NZ...( via China )
  22. Thanks All, Yes a very good looking S Works was for sale in Centurion, obviously not advertised, for sale by hearsay and selling other parts on Facebook, however some other poor soul bought the bike before I has a chance to expose this. Hope they realize its a fake.
  23. Hi All, Looking for Shimano Brake Mineral Oil and bleeding Funnel Centurion / PTA will collect & pay. 0833978067
  24. Hi all, Im looking for a person that knows the Specialized / S works MTB brand very well. I have a few frame specific questions regarding genuine frames vs Chinese copies. Thanks
