  1. Hi Hubbers, I have al old vintage Fold up bike what needs a new head tube welded. Any references of good companies in Gauteng ?
  2. Thx All
  3. Thx DR Solomons..They have no 26r in stock.
  4. Hi Hubbers, Friend of ours lost a tire this weekend, but stock seems to be a problem. Any recommendations or LBS with range of 26r Enduro / Trail tires Pretoria / JHB/ Centurion ? or online ?
  5. Hi Hubbers, Anyone with a P/P 160 to 203 Shimano front brake adapter lying around that may be for sale or may have seen one in a specific LBS ?
  6. Ha, Interesting this old post...wonder what that charger Damper cost now ?
  7. Were at the ass end of the world as far as MTB stock availability on just about anything goes. I reluctantly bought a Leatt DBX 3. Worst service ever, still actually waiting for my helmet supposed to have been delivered more than a week ago. Maybe get a cheaper GIRO or the likes in the meantime from Solomons...they actually do keep stock.
  8. I think you may be missing my Point wrt. the retail side of what I Think Leatt is doing/ not doing. With a 3rd quarter income of 11Million dollars, its clear our market is way to small for this big company. https://leatt-corp.com/press-releases/leatt-corp-announces-third-quarter-2020-results/ Shops should keep stock if they want to sell. For to long consumers have had this bad level of service of you want, we order, then I may as well buy online. Im the guy that spent time and fuel driving to the shop, so now i have to first pay for something they want me to fit on...I don't think so. Then the size is wrong, so they have to re order, i have now done 2 trips to the shop and the 3rd one about to happen when the correct size arrives eventually with their 72hrs turnaround time on orders....no this is not a bicycle part we are talking about, apparel must be fitted on and the shops that stock the products, will sell the goods...simple business model. The point i was trying to make is that the manufacturer must ensure their retailers are stocked with at least the bare minimum. This is not the case with Leatt, thus my comments about them most likely NOT interested in the small local market. Go look at other retail industries, the cycling industry needs to learn a lot. Thanks for the heads up on the shops, im in Pretoria though. Anyways, this has turned into a rant which was not the intention of the post.
  9. Thx. Yes, the age old issue...if you don't keep stock in the stores, you wont sell. Unfortunately not everyone is lucky enough to buy personalised protective gear online and get the sizing right. Im convinced Leatt is not interested in local consumer sales, rather their International sales, dont blame anyone however due to our pathetic small market. Its is a pity though, so few International SA based companies, and the few out there does not seem to be interested in local consumers...strange, the local consumers in some cases were what launched most of these companies into International stardom.
  10. Hi Hubbers, Any recommendations on resellers of LEATT gear ( Helmets, Knee/ Elbow guards) etc, Not online shops, have to fit on. Does not seem to be many shops / resellers that keep a compliment of above mentioned goods to fit on.
  11. Hi Hubbers, Anyone know who the distributors are of the IXS Products that i can ask a few tech questions. Local bike shops cant really help with tech questions or....anyone know of a shop in Centurion / PTA that keep a good variety of Knee/Elbow pads ?
  12. I may have missed what type of brakes you are running. If you are running XT's, give me a shout ..Ive now spent months trying to sort out spongee rear brakes...I now know the Shimano's pretty well. Im in Centurion
  13. Thx All. After many hrs of investigation ( Analysis paralysis ) im now concidering looking at the Magura MT Trail Sport set...Hopes are just insanely expensive when upgrading brakes + Rotors.. I have been told the Magura's are great value for money. They also boast a 5yr leak free guarantee i believe.
  14. OneUp Composites are also something to look at and great value IMO or get a used set of the OneUp aluminiums...
  15. Parts availability Of the Formula Cura any good ?? ...Nowadays one has to think about the consistency or parts / spares availability in SA. That for me is a big selling point . The other issue I have with the Shimano's are the lack of service kits for the levers. Banjo and cable combos also ridiculously expensive.
  16. Not Sure yet ./..any recommendations ?
  17. Enduro / Trail Hubbers !!!! Please guys need some advice. Have been riding with Shimano XT M8000 Brakeset for the last 10 months. Always had an issue with modulation ( especially rear brake). Dont get me wrong, XT brakes do their job, but as the pads seem to start wearing out, the rear lever ends up close to grips to have same effect as when the brakes were new. Also the free stroke adjustment screw now all the way in, and brakes seem to only start "gripping" halve way through the pull. I have spend a lot of time reading up on this and it seems its how it is with the XT brakes. So ive been advised to go for a set op hopes and get it over and done with. I have the following options: Tech 3 levers front and rear + X2 calipers ( 2 piston) front and rear. If budget allows, possibly using the E4 caliper up front. Ill still be using 180 Shimano rotor up front and 160 Shimano rotor rear untill im able to upgrade to the Hope rotors. So...what are your thoughts on the hope setup Tech 3 levers + X2 calipers front and rear as a starting point. Im 95 kgs, "built for speed not endurance" , not a hardcore downhiller, ride at Grootfontein, Wolwespruit, Red barn mostly Trails.

  19. Good news, but one could argue that you were lucky. I know of other people where the LBS simply walks away from the issues. Some may disagree...that's why one works on your own bike rather....The Mechanic is NOT the one that spent R80k+ on the bike, the owner has and that feeling of ownership, dedication and meticulous care may just not be the same as the guy whom forked out the R80k for his bike. Oh and for those that say they don't know how to work on a bike...maybe its time to work on a new skill......
  20. Ive had only good dealings with the Pyga team the last few months. I do however think that if the factory does deal directly with the consumer, they should at least have something for a test ride or a database of owners they may refer you to.( popi act may be a challenge though) Unfortunately Pyga is loosing major market share up in the PTA side as their main dealer in PTA has closed down and the other dealer in PTA has zero stock. Its a tough industry to be in at the moment and it will be great to see a local company with a lot bigger footprint in SA. There are serious marketing guru's out there that will make this happen for Pyga....provided that it is part of their business strategy.
  21. Here's my old 26r Mullet Reign, rebuilt for a Youngster. Some before and afters Initially wanted to just re do the frame, then ending up completely re building. From frame powder coating, Pivot bearings, BB, Headset and the list goes on. Halfway through the project decided to Sell it to a mate for his son keen on starting Trail riding. Old but solid bike
  22. Send me a PM...been through part of this a short while back. Still not done with my project but have done a lot of homework.
