  1. Was in the same boat as you early this year. You will not find anything decent for the money you want to spend especially coming from a dirt bike background. Maybe an old 26r, but then its going to take at least another 2-4K to get it running well. Good helmet way over R1k already. The bikes you may have seen under R4k will have cheap components, groupsets and wheels...don't waste your money on that, but all depends on the type of person you are...some buy junk and ride it till the wheels come off and buy another piece of c@#p and so it goes, others buy good stuff and enjoy the technology..... Coming from dirtbikes ourselves, you may not take well to a HT.. Also are you wanting to do XC and get very fit, then you need a super light HT with all the bells and whistles or more trails type riding ( like with the dirtbikes) + a bit jumping etc...then you need a Dual sus. You will get many different opinions here as there are many different people riding different disciplines. My advice, first decide what sort of riding you want to do, then think about a budget. You will get good advice on this forum..many guys here that will great give advice...also go read through old posts here...,many beginners / noobs have asked the same questions before.
  2. Looking for a Hanger for an older Giant Reign 2007 Most Giants of that time frame used the same hangers ? Has a NO 7 stamped on Or similar in design, i have tools to modify. 0833978067
  3. Great Post. I too stopped riding back in 1986 and only started riding again at 51 early this year with my 16 yr old son. Wish i had never stopped.
  4. Any of the creative Hubbers wish to give input ? The old Small 2007 Reign has been stripped down and ready for a new piant job. Yes I know its old but its a project and will then probably be sold or become a play bike when done. Any ideas on a nice colour for the frame and decals.? Somehow the matt black may still be on the cards. If so it will be redone as the previous job was sub standard. Other colours that come to mind Payga taxi Yellow Bright Orange Titan Green Metallic silver Battleship / Undercoat Gloss Grey Im not a big fan of the pastel type colours so NO baby blues, Pinks, Turquoise etc. Keep in mind some of the old parts in the picture and the fork going back on the frame. Grips and a few bits and bobs will be added to match new colour scheme
  5. Do You stock the BB86-OUT ?
  6. Thanks All, Only realised now that i omitted to mention I also need to add a press in BB92 Bottom Bracket... References on this will also be appreciated.
  7. Hi Hubbers, In the market for a new complete MTB headset ZS44 / ZS56 . Every shop / Online shop sells a different brand. KCNC seem to be the most reasonable priced thus far. Any recommendations or brands to stay away from ?
  8. If You build a bike, you will get way more bang for your buck...Been in your shoes just a few months ago and got the best bang for my buck by building a bike. Come have a look at both out bikes we built up and decide for yourself. We also ride at red barn and Wolwe...PM me for contact details. Im no expert, but have gone down the same road you are about to and may save you some heartache and cash.
  9. Lots of sellers on the hub have long sold their goods but never bothered updating it, so from a buyer point of view one needs to make sure something is still available otherwise tge seller is simply wasting your time.
  10. Thanks all. Have hopefully done all my homework. Have spoken to Pyga already. Medium is my size just wanting to make contact with size M owners to ask for a test ride before pulling the trigger on one.
  11. Hi All, A Little off topic, but I am not getting response elsewhere. Looking for some 140 Pascoe 650b..owners in Pretoria / Centurion region. Would like to chat about this specific bike. Preferably someone with a M size frame.

  13. Some People are just useless...cant imagine how they get through life !!
  14. My 2c worth as someone that has been on the bike buy / frame buy and build mission the last 7 months. I spoke to a Spez dealer some time back on used bike values and this is what I was told. A new bike looses 40% of its value up until year one. Thereafter deduct about 10% from that figure per year. I'm unassuming the same goes for a frame. As RobertW mentioned previously go find out what a new frame cost back when you bought your bike and deduct accordingly to the scale mentioned. Then also think of the mess the economy is in and ask for offers on your frame. Your frame is worth what you sell it for, not what a lowballer offers you, not what you think its worth or would like it to be, nor what others are quick to "evaluate" but actually don't have the money to buy it. Its worth a solid offer backed up by a sale...that's what its worth.
  15. Hi, Is there a rep from Trail Tech on this forum or someone know of an alternate number. Their cellphone goes straight to voicemail. PS: Did get hold of them via facebook Messenger. Seem a signal problem in their area.
  16. Well One thing is for sure...If you see an advert on any Facebook platform with no location mentioned...be sure the seller is from CPT. Strange how some of the Capetonians think that CPT is South Africa and everyone lives there so no need to post your @#$%^ location :-) Anyway on a serious note...guys if yo are from CPT and do advertise stuff....remember dude...you may (or not) know where you live..... we dont Bru !!!!!
  17. Looks awesome. Silly question. Would it not have been easier to spray the frame black and then have decals made in the green, stick on and seal with the clear coat?
  18. CPT prices on used bikes and parts are over inflated compared to Gauteng and rest of SA. This is based on my experience shopping for bikes and parts the last 6 months.
  19. my 2c worth. Ive dealt with a number of sellers the last 4 months and have found most way t laid back and easy come easy go attitude. Slow to respond to enquiries. Then also the rude ones as mentioned before. IMO its simple...if you place an advert on a public forum and you want to sell your stuff...don't be a D#$%. You are the one wanting to sell your stuff and the buyer is certainly not doing you a favour by enquiring or calling you...you are the seller, you want the money, you jump through the hoops for the buyer. That how it works in the real world. And I will give a crappy rating, even if no deal was done.
  20. Hi Banshee owners, I had some 650b hangers and some flip chips made locally. Hi grade alu and much better quality than the original parts. Since there is no specific category for this in the buy sell section, Ive advertised it under the Groupset classifieds and also share it here FIY. Since I had to make a few units I have some left for if anyone is interested.
  21. Hi Hubbers, any suspension specialists in Pretoria / Johannesburg worth recommending. ? Already have Cogent's details, anyone else ?
  22. It is a 12mm TA 135mm long. Ok so Ive done some homework. This hub most likely came off a 2013 Scott Scale 900RC according to Scott SA. There are options available in the sense of a Thru Axle with a nut on the far end. Pic attached. This however is a costly part making it to costly @ R800 for the axle... Other advice was to get a sold bar and have 2 threads cut on the ends with 2 normal locknuts ( Old school Redneck BMX style) ...hmm maybe not to pleasing from an aesthetic appearance point of view :-) So is there anyone out there with such a DT SWISS or similar 10mm TA off an old Scott ? A used part may be the option to go for ?
  23. Unfortunately NOT...assumed all was good until I tried to remove the cap..Other side cap also seized up, cant even get it off.
  24. Definitely a small MTB frame... Have also been looking around for DJ frames and that does not look the part of a DJ.
