  1. You and I must suffer from the same sickness.....Dont click on that button !!!
  2. We run Rapide stems and bars on all our bikes...no issues
  3. Are you finding this problem with new brakes and the rear caliper ? In my case I assume the pressure is 100% as the brakes are brand new and installed by specialists, thus me suspecting pads / rotor issue.
  4. I just would expect a LBS to have done this as a service for forking out R6k + for the brakes. The pads are apparently the black "performance" pads. I just don't see why i have to modify / sand a brand new set of pads.Just now ill be accused of damaging the pads...
  5. What i mean by Gradual stops is not flat our over the bars or locking up the rear brakes. Maybe I should have re phrased it..Gradual hard braking. I did however check, no glasing. Im sure LBS would have mentioned this when they checked last week....I hope..
  6. I would have assumed the LBS that installed my brakes would have done that. I did however on my own do a series of about 20 gradual stops for both front and rear giving time between every few stops to cool down. That how i normally do it for all my new brakes.
  7. Hi Hubbers, Hope you can give some solid advice. Apologies for the long post... I bought a new Magura brake set in November last year. For warranty purposes I had to have it installed by the LBS that sold me the brakes. Installation of Magura Trail Sport brake set + new rotors = 5 November 2020 Did not ride the bike until late December ( working during year end rush) Did pickup a noticeable squeal on the rear brake with the first ride ( 1 x loop at Wolwespruit) , but assumed it was still new....give it some time I thought 2 rides later ( 7km in total) brake squeal still persistent. Called the LBS in January to complain and the answer was "just check what pads you have in, performance vs comfort ?? type of explanation" I was told it was probably "contamination" clean rotor or bring in the bike. Next ride, more squeal on the rear brake, so I took the pads off, cleaned pads and rotor well with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Took it for a test around the block, still squeal. Called LBS last week was told to bring in the bike for an assessment. If warranty issue, Magura rep will have to come out to assess. I was not to happy about that, i would have expected a " bring it in we will replace the pads or rotor" no questions asked response but this was not the case. Reluctantly again took the bike in last week. Bike was ready 2 days later and I was told the following: Rotor contaminated( this was after I had thoroughly cleaned and only rode the bike around the block to test). Anyway, I took the mechanic's word and on the way out I also had another conversation with someone in the shop. I was asked what oil I use on the chain. I use Liqui Moly wet lube ( on all 3 other bikes we have) but was told it was bad quality oil and may contribute to the so called "contamination". ( strange as Ive been using this chain oil on our other 3 bikes for the last year no issues) I was told the bike was tested an all is good. They simply cleaned the brakes. That last last Wednesday. Took the bike for a test around the block on Friday...guess what, still a small noticeable squeal on the rear brake. NOTE: No issues with the front brake , all working well. I have 2 other bikes running different year model shimano XT brakes and my own ( prior to changing over to Magura for a better modulation experience) and non of these brakes ever had this squealing problem. We ride the same trails, all have the same riding style, so i seriously doubt the "contamination" explanation. Besides me making a big issue out of this, is there someone else having a similar issue that has resolved this ? Is there someone with some sound advice on what else to try. Do I spend another R450 on a new set of pads just to prove a point ?
  8. I think Most guys riding Mullets do it for the fun. Not everyone is a super X country "need all the Geo i can get" rider . Mullets are cool and they look much better than those skinny 8kg XC machines. Who cares about Geo if you not competing on national / international levels...
  9. I rest my case. This is what any buyer would expect and why the seller probably has a flawless rating. Thanks all for your comments.
  10. Thanks Guys, i don't have a Lathe but whoever manages to make another set, Ill be the first one to order a set of the brass connectors.
  11. Thx, but we will have to agree to disagree. Answering someone is plain courtesy and GOOD MANNERS, not everyone seems to understand that so ill leave it at that.
  12. Anyway, thanks all for your comments. Sorry this post was intended as a message for some sellers to contact me, and it escalated into a mini rant ( certainly justified. ) , its clear that if sellers do not respond to adverts timeously, it is frustrating for potential buyers.
  13. Fully agree with Lowball offers, but plain courtesy also does not cost anything. Again, the seller wants to sell his goods, he should be putting in the effort of communicating with all potensial buyers, but in my case relevant to this post, it was a simple " Hi, Im interrested, whats you number please" Followed by no feedback for more than 2 days.
  14. Hi no hard feelings. Its just that when someone sends a message and the user was online that same day and the next but still no response, then there is no excuse to getting back to someone later. If i sell something or someone contacts me, i flag it on hold immediately...this way all the other poor buggers don't have to sit and wait for me to mark as sold a few days later. That's the point i was trying to make.
  15. No I am not. This is NOT about "losing a deal" its about the inability of the seller to communicate properly which leads to people "loosing deals" Now if i comminicated with the seller and made a stupid offer only to then loose a deal, that would certainly not be grounds for a poor rating. A deal or potensioal deal starts when an advert is placed. The time and effort a seller puts in to answer a potential buyer is part of the service they are rated on. If they don't want a bad rating they should answer all enquiries timeously, mark product as sold or on hold or rather advertise in the Junkmail. To many "couldn't care less" sellers on this platform. Not everyone understands this simple concept and I will not waste time explaining this.
  16. Hi Hubbers, At my wits end Looking for something simple, but it seems as we are in SA, everything seems complicated, ( unlike buying a Toyota, that's straight forward : ) So I'm in the process of a DJ 26r rear wheel build, but NO one in this country seems to have any stock of a 135x10 (32H) bolt through rear hub ( SS or std Freehub body )....any suggestions, recommendations, butcher job ideas, 2nd hand one for sale, all welcome Typically a MTB Hub will work, although the DJ specific hubs apparently has wider flanges for added strength im told, one simply needs to get the SS sprocket conversion kit to take care of the freebody, its the axle detail that seems to be an issue. PS: Dartmoor, Hope, Rapide either don't have this type of hub or don't have stock. Hope getting in stock end March, but R5,000 for a rear hub...hmmm out of my budget BMX hubs ( already SS ready ) may be an option, but with no one carrying stock ( bmx direct) of anything similar, this may also be another dead end.
  17. And that is why they then get a %^&** rating from me
  18. Maybe all members need to pass a compulsory test "how to buy and sell" on the Interwebs to stay on this platform :-) Common sense is actually not that common when it comes to advertising something and not knowing how to deal with the process. As expected, seller eventually replies with "sorry sold yesterday" response as could be expected. I think the classifieds section MUST have a compulsory PHONE Number requirement. No number, no advert. If you want to sell something on a public forum, then be prepared to share your phone number or advertise in the junk mail. Maybe time wasters should be banned for a month or so, so they can wake up. :-) LOL
  19. Hi Hubbers, 1. Mypro 2. DeRosaKing Please guys, if you advertise something, respond to inboxes otherwise you are wasting potensial buyers time. It may also make things easier if you have your contact numbers on the adverts...just saying :-)
  20. Hubbers, Anyone that can recommend a good universal bleeding kit.( Oil & Dot ) I have a Shimano kit, but now looking for something that will do SRAM / AVID , MAGURA. Oh and most critical, where can one then get this. Been on most online shops , no one has kits. Evo has one advertised, but looks like cheap plastic syringes. ( or are they ok ? ) Willing to buy a used kit as well.
  21. Don't even bother trying to buy a used bike. Ridiculous prices asked by owners jumping on the "new bike shortage" bandwagon or use your money on something else. If and when this industry recovers one day, go buy what you want or import direct. Don't waste time on local distributors. All have financial constraints as can be expected and will only import what benefits them and when it suites them. Consumers will have to fall in with their business model.
  22. Pathetic to say the least. Was also scammed by someone a few years back selling Motorcycle parts and it seems these two guys learnt from the same school. Same modus operandi Both attitudes the same. They take no responsibility for their inability to do something right, they wait until you start becoming more aggressive, then they turn on the " dont you tell me what to do" attitude and the next thing you know they are accusing you of naming and shaming them and because of that, now you will never get your money back. This oke is an idiot..how do you own a service centre and not know the difference between 650b and 29r fork,,,really..anyway Robert I suggest you go to small claims court. Sue him. He has to come to Pretoria for this, if he doesn't, hell be found guilty ( because he is) and let them sell all his tools and everything else, but then again someone with this attitude has nothing in any case and probably been liquidated many times before...good luck anyway.
