  1. Also looking for part time work in Pretoria. Only got one class this year so loads of time. Nearly qualified Mechanical Engineer, anybody got anything?
  2. It might only be me but I can't past the first page of the events section. I'm running Win7 and Chrome. Anybody else having similar problems?
  3. Something occurred to my while riding the other day- the chain always hits the gears on the same side.... would it help to turn the chain around every now and then to even things out?
  4. So I decided to give my forks a service and before I know it I've got the thing in a million pieces and oil everywhere. Anyway, give it a good clean and follow the online service instructions to service most parts and even convert it to a 100mm from a 80mm. Anyway, the online service stuff only gives replacement instructions for the damping cartridge and since I couldn't get seal for the fork anyway, i doubt i'll get a damping cartridge. Long story short, I played around a lot with the oil to air ratio and got it right I recon the only thing that seems to not work as well is the lockout- the oil seeps past the lockout part slowly. I think the problem is that I used a thinner oil as I used 5W from my motorbike supplies but there are no instructions as to what should be used. Any Suggestions? It is a Suntour Axon fork. As I said I converted it to 100mm but there is plenty of space to trill another hole to make it a 120 say, has anybody got any experience in the area? Cheers
  5. Please tell us the brand... want to know what to buy... I know a leatherman also has a lifetime guarantee but that only last for 25years... 5 years sounds decent though, friend of mine trek had a 3 year one and broke at 2 1/2.
  6. It would seem that the problem is that it is a Suntour fork- it is the Axon with remote lockout and is serviceable. Thanks for the advice though.
  7. So, random question, who has the most posts on the hub? (is it something to be proud of?)
  8. I'm sick of LBSs in general actually. Been trying to get my shock serviced for 2months now and they can't get spares or simply don't want to do it. Then they're a ripoff when it comes to the cost- what gives? Naturally they blame the supplier but if they really wanted the business they would make a plan. They also never have stock of the item that you want and take down you name and number to try and find it but surprise- they never call. (It actually just struck me that i might sound like a woman) But I digress, i want to be positive, so anybody got any ideas? New shops? Want to open a shop with me?
  9. I'm not saying ride in front of other cars, but what's the advantage of cycling if you can't skip robots. If it's clear I take the gap...
  10. I have a more expensive Suntour fork, the Axon air fork and all was well and good for the first 1000 or so km. It then started leaking and so i took it in for a service. First the LBS said they couldn't service it then they said I would have to wait till the first week of Nov to get the parts. So basically I'm stuck with a fork tha goes flat in 20km and the lockout doesn't work when it's flat. Feel you pain @snailman
  11. Hi I had a post about adding a like system and was told by admin that we could add a user ranking system. Is this going to happen, or what needs to be done so that we can do this?
  12. Thanks- Very Helpfull
  13. I have a question.... why do you have a saddle bag on the bike on the hamster but not on the one that isn't... Just saying...
  14. Perfectness is debatable...
  15. Erm well what Dirt*Girl?
  16. That sounds like a good system and I'm guessing one would just click a +1 or -1 at the bottom of the post? One way of ensuring that the system doesn't collapse would be to have a daily maximum of +/-1s thus ensuring some idiots doesn't just click +1 for everything or whatever. I'm very for this. Oh and this was in no way connected to the Like this on Facebook button at the bottom of every page.
  17. Do all ANT+ devices work together, in other words- i have a suunto watch that has a ant+ HR monitor and i can add different pods etc, but will a polar ant+ or equivalent pod work with my suunto?
  18. This is an exact copy from facebook, but i think we should have a like button on the hub. Some people have some really sharp comments and it's really annoying reading through everybody else going haha about his/her comment... Also a dislike button just to say that we don't really care about what you just added to the thread...
  19. Flour/Flower- same thing in my mind.
  20. This wasn't you by any chance?
  21. Self Raising!
  22. I managed to do a 24" rim with a 24" tyre but it was a little hassle. can't find a 20" presta tire. Also been riding about 200kms now without any hassles. I also tried using insulation tape to seal the rim but didn't have any luck. would love to know if someone has had a flat and tried to use the cut up tube again? Oh, also instead of Stans which is mother expensive they have stuff at MaKro or motorbike shops for really cheap that works just as well if you ask me. I got enough for 2 wheels for R50...
  23. I think cyclists are very sceptical about anything that they don't understand or that can't really be explained like: 1) Powerbands 2) Contador winning TDF I would like to recall a certain time when everybody was wearing copper bracelets and you could see them working when the green rust appeared on your wrist... it's just a phase but these phases make a huge mental difference... to some people
  24. talking about the grease- i am currently using WB grease but i recently saw some stuff called assembly grease which is an awesome silver colour and a lot thicker than normal grease however it is slightly smoother than normal too. Does anybody know what the manufacturers recommend for these sorts of things? I am seriously thinking of upgrading to sealed bearings as it seems to only have advantages.. any suggestions?
